  7. wei wu wei

let us steer again into a more Taoist frame of mind, from the Wen-Tzu we have: "In high antiquity, real people breathed yin and yang, and all living beings looked up to their virtue, thus harmonizing peacefully. In those times, leadership was hidden, spontaneously creating pure simplicity. Pure simplicity had not yet been lost, so myriad beings were relaxed. Eventually society deteriorated. By the time of Fu Hsi, there was a dawning of deliberate effort, everyone was on the verge of leaving their innocent mind and consciously understanding the universe. Their virtues were complex and not unified. Coming to the times when Shen-nung and Huang Ti governed the land and made calendars to harmonize with yin and yang, now all the people stood straight up and thinkingly bore the burden of looking and listening. Therefore they were orderly but not harmonious." I've come to the conclusion that the Tao is real, yet does not exist. Thanks to thelerner for helping me to simplify. Thanks to dawei for allowing me to explain myself. For some time, I have worked on an audio note detection process, in an unorganized way (much like how I practice tai chi): demo_electric.mp4 I merely was attempting and overthinking the way in which I might make the audio project available, and allow me to keep the process private. It seems there is no feasible way. About the Wen-Tzu quote, leadership was hidden, spontaneously creating pure simplicity, there [is] a(re) living being(s) behind this Tao idea. There are living beings that create the machines we use on a daily basis, whether mechanical, electronic or otherwise. It seems to me that we, as a world, are cooperating enough to regain 'pure simplicity'.
  8. Middle Class Daoism : Bagua vs MMA

so, wu tang style? I watch alot of movies. I litreally have a box set titled eight trigram fighters or something. I'm more into this for the health benfits, even though I am a smoker. So balance I guess. Is Wu Tang, Shaolin Style the same?
  9. wei wu wei

nonaction (wu wei) is not action without knowledge. There is a difference. To clarify, I'm asking a answer to a koan. It is an advanced and abstract question that I've asked in my original post.
  10. wei wu wei

識 识 shí to know; knowledge I'm American
  11. wei wu wei

True to marblehead, I'll humble my interpretation of action without action. It is more about following the way and being guided than acting ignorantly, yet at the same time, if one is guided, how does one act without knowing; would be my original interpretation of action without action. Effortless action is the action without action wikipedia interpretation. So I guess my question is wei wu shi ? So I'm thinking to apply an answer to create a computer encryption algorithm.

Isn't Ba Gua an advanced form of Feng Shui?
  13. Swallowing saliva

From my tai chi chuan and meditation book: At a more advanced stage, a much more powerful feeling is experienced. the abdomen becomes very hot and one suddenly feels a surge of vital energy go back into the base of the spine, then up the Tu Mo to the top of the head. As it comes over the top of the head and enters the Jen Mo, a flow of very clean and sweet-tasting saliva is felt in the mouth. This is distilled from the ch`i, which then flows down the Jen Mo in the form of water.
  14. mandlebrot energy map

Zooming out on a quadratic mandlebrot yeilds an interesting image. The red channel is the real value of the complex number. The green channel is the imaginary value of the complex number. the blue channel is the phase of the complex number. it seems to me that right portion of the above image is anthroporphic in a recursive style. Could this mandlebrot set be a map of a human's energy fields? I've heard somewhere that enlightened folk have ten energy centers, and there are three other dots above the crown, in the labeled image.

  17. Undefine the Way

From the wen-tzu [p.224, v. 1; Thomas Cleary's Taoist Classics], we have: "The way of heaven is a pattern, the way of earth is a design; unity harmonizes them, time works for them, thereby developing myriad beings. This is called the Way." Unity is the key word in this verse, in my opinion. For high virtue is not contrived, just as the way is undefined. Am I being ignorant by even posting this?
  18. Undefine the Way

Certain senses, I believe, such as sound or scent, are able to be recognized by divine beings and ephemeral, alike. I agree with Michael Sternbach that we finite in our human viewpoint; however we are advanced enough to observe. Our observation is a series of finite accounts, all put together to form an approximation of the infinite. The next sentence on the page: "The Great Way is even, and not far from oneself. Cultivate it in yourself, and that virtue is real. Cultivate it in others, and that virtue is endless."
  19. There is an ad that I've noticed on this site for terry dunn. Try one of his videos; I made it though maybe the first half hour of it, and had to stop; it was too intense. The idea is to take your breath and coordinate your visualizations with movements as well. In the video he speaks of a grounding technique used in tai ji; he speaks only of the lower tan`tien for grounding ( at least I think so; see above ). As I've been sitting in half lotus more; I've been grounding with my upper and middle tan`tien. Has anyone ever tried that?
  20. tazo lotus tea

As this is my only connection to the eastern world paradigm, I have a question for those whom happen to be of eastern descent. I have heard that the lotus flower is sacred in eastern culture, and reserved for the esoteric among us. Foolish as a fool will claim to be wise, does this commercial product: http://www.tazo.com/green-tea/decaf-lotus-blossom-green degrade the status of the lotus flower?

  23. T`ai Chi Tu and Fish

Please pardon me if this topic is considered political. I tend to take anonymous interactions lightly. Blending separate ideas in my mind, I've created my profile picture while reading a T`ai Chi Ch`uan and meditation book and studying the Christian bible at my church. We were reading the book of Mark in the Gospel, and the pastor mentioned that the early Christian's used the fish symbol as a code. If two men met traveling, one would draw an arc in the sand, and the other would complete the arc so both men knew each other was Christian. In the T`ai Chi Ch`uan meditation book, it describes the diagram of the supreme ultimate or T`ai Chi Tu symbol as a double fish symbol which originated from observing the shadow of the sun from the main pillar of a home while the sun rose and set. 'The design [T`ai Chi Tu] is also described [as a] "pair of fishes nestling head to tail against each other".' - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taijitu#Modern_yin-yang_symbol I was not alive 2000 years ago, yet am able, through film, to imagine the struggles of early Christians; I am also of western descent. Yet, browsing, I find this particularly interesting: Read from the bottom right, up one over one. Shield pattern of the Western Roman infantry unit Armigeri Defensores Seniores (ca. AD 430).[6] Is this there some ancient connection here?
  24. T`ai Chi Tu and Fish

oops... that above image regards meridians, I'm thinking of psychic channels... http://underthemoonshadow.blogspot.com/2012/03/eight-main-psychic-channels.html please ignore the header of site???? now sure what that is about.
  25. T`ai Chi Tu and Fish

jessup2, The ouroborous is extremely interesting. The image from China you have provide above describes the jen mo and tu mo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acupuncture_points#/media/File:Chinese_meridians.JPG It is in the book I am reading regarding meditation. As I've been walking to work I have been breathing from the brain to the kidneys to the lungs. The book describes the kidneys as the root organ of a human body, more important than any other; just like a tree's roots. Anyway, I am sort of lax with meditation, yet always find time to practice. I suppose that I am sort of taken to the philosophy that any time is a fine time. Meaning, I do set aside time in my day, yet practice though the day. My understanding of breathing from the brain to the kidneys is to breath down the tu mo (the psychic channel that runs along the back of the spine), and then breathe into the belt channel (along the waist) to fill the lower tan tien with breath and then up the channel of control which runs through the center of the body into the lungs; I've improvised the last portion [from kidneys to lungs]. I find this fascinating. It is amazing how certain unchanging patterns have existed through generation upon generation. Nungali, Forget the hate, see the vine.
