  1. Hello from Michigan

Welcome come onboard. Jesus was a great guy. OK. he's the greatest guy in my book so far. Too bad the church in general don't know how to read bible.
  2. Limits of Practice

In general anything can be a signpost/landmark. Basically it tells that you where you are. There are so many of them at different level, that your body/mind just regard the familiar signposts as white noise, you are not aware most of them. When you get to some places that you haven't been before or not very familiar, you noticed the signpost/landmark. Should you keep going or turning back? It's up to each individual in different situation. There are tons of them. Some of the signpost/landmark ar customized, i.e. only you can feel/see them. To compare your signpost with another person is useless most time.
  3. The Question, The Purpose, The Way

Truth is self-evident. The self is the person who practices meditiation. Self hypnosis is a tool in the bag of meditation tool kits. Meditation is more than self-hypnosis. Two years ago, I started meditation because I wanted to enhance my sexual pleasure. I was very "dedicated". I actively seeked sexual pleasure outside my daily meditation as well. The meditation worked better beyond my wildest imagination. In two month I had sexual pleasure that I had never experienced before during meditation. The effectiveness of meditation was evident to me. The "side effect" of my meditation was I also experience the pain and suffering first hand that I caused others during my sexual pleasure quest. I was so ashamed of myself. I totally changed the goal of my meditation. To make a long story short. Now I meditate to have a better life for me and people/things I love. My old meditation technique doesn't work anymore. I stopped mediation. My life got worse. So I picked up meditation again. I was on a wild goose chase. Now I believe I'm on the right path for me. Because my life is getting better. Again, it's self evident to myself. Self hypnosis is useful because to convince others (and your body) you have to convince yourself first. It's huma natrual to have doubts. Sefl hypnosis can help convince yourself of something. Then you have to figure out how to turn the conviction into "reality". If you don't take the next step. Self hypnosis beccome self deceiving. I hope I make myself clear.
  4. Seiki

Greetings. Now you can post in other forums since you've made the first in the lobby area. Nice video clip, by the way.
  5. Some Thoughts

Life is a paradox. I really like Astral monk's signature: Gender:Male Location:Road to God's Eternal Palace Interests:Weed, asian girls, social issues, swords It's like an open book. I'm sure I'll have a good time smoking weed and discussing girls with him, though I don't smoke that much anymore.
  6. I'm seeking diet advice

Sounds like food nazi to me. I love pork. It's a stable food in China. Some research showed that lean pork is healthier than chicken. Chillies and seasoning are good for you in general. Diversity, customization and moderation. Not two people react the same to the same food. A "healthy" food maybe good for John, it doesn't mean it's "healthy" to you.
  7. Some Thoughts

thetaoiseasy, Thank you very much for all those wonderful tips and insights. I basically agree with every single sentence. I've learned a lot of valuable and important things. You're at much higher developement level than me. I don't know if I can help you with your practice. I've been on this forum for almost a year. I've come to know wonderful people here: some grumpy retired professor, some struggling artist, some artistic youth and some eccentric seeker. Though I haven't met any, I have a mental picture of them based on their posts. However, I don't have a picture of you. You're so balanced, at least from your writing. You could be any wise master from any of those movies. I'm a firm believer of diversity. If every one follows the "tao" and be true to himself. The whole world would be in perfect balance at higher level. Everyone has distinct DNA, so everyone must have some special "talent" that others don't have. What is yours?
  8. Limits of Practice

You're at pretty high level. It's very hard to say anything without causing more variation to muddle the karma. Then again, diversity makes life interesting. One of the question that only you can answer yourself is "did you enjoy those experiences yourself overall?" All those manifestation came from your mind originallly. Why them? Personally I like Tebitan_ice experience more: naked beautiful woman and kundalini girl dancing for him. He's a lucky dog. I adore female body. I don't like random weird thing happen to me during my peaceful sleep. I'd like enjoyable experiences. I'm a simple guy who enjoy the normal male fantasy (yes, it's a fine line between fantasy and craving/lust. The good news is I'm making the line wider and more blurred . I can never understand these people who enjoy horror movies. They pay to get scared to death! However, I'm not going to ban horror movies just because I don't like them. Or think those people at lower level of development. They like what they like. I like what I like. So long everyone is authentic and respectful of each other. We all can have "fun" at the same time. Do you really want to experience how it feels to be "crazy"? I was "crazy" twice. I appreciate the things that I learned during that phase. I just wish there are less dramatic ways to teach me the lessons. To be honest, I'd rather watching and touching a beautiful naked girl than going crazy. Thanks for sharing the experiences. Now I know for sure I don't want to go to a Vipassana retreat. What a horror movie!
  9. Talking To God

Thank you. I did some mirror gazing for a few weeks. I felt something usual. But I didn't know what to watch and what to do. I'll definitely try it again. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Talking To God

Phoenix rises from ashes. The symbol of Tao is a circle. Death makrs end of the old chapter. It also indicate the beginning of a new chapter: rebirth. They're not exactly the same thing. But they are in the same spot. When you get there, you have a choice. I know what I'll pick.
  11. I think it's called "jade pillow". If you believe Chinese folklore, it's called rebellion bone. The blockage there indicate defiance against authority. Have you been having problem with government? Tax?
  12. The Question, The Purpose, The Way

What your eye sees is real. What your ear hears is real. What you nose smells is real. What you tongue tastes is real. What your body feels is real. If you're happy with them, you're in Tao. If you think they're fake or want something better, good luck with that.
  13. Talking To God

Great power comes with great responsibilities. Would you like to have fun and care free or work day and night and knowing your decision effect lives of millions? Or your thoughts effect lives of millions? You're still young. Go out to make some friends of your age. Don't let old folks like me to pollute your mind.
  14. Eat food. Simple. In your heart, you want food. You for some strange reason deny yourself the basic craving. What's wrong with eating food? All the food is good. Your mind made it bad. Sorry about my straight forward approach.
  15. Talking To God

more_pie_guy, thanks for the links. Those people basically has the similar idea like me. We're the producer, consumer and food. Trinity. We're the coder, code and decoder. Trinity. We're the heaven, earth and human. Trinity. Wer'e the doer, doing and watcher. Trinity. We're the dreamer, dream and observer. Trinity. We're living in a world that was directed by ourselves. It's a feedback system. Our desire provide direction for the next chapter. Our karma decides the actual outcome. If we stop desire for a long time for the past outcome to catch up, we can see and feel the direct feedback loop. If we desire water, if we have good karma, water will appear somehow. If you have bad karma, the water is nowhere to be found. Back to topic. WillingToListen is part of us. Each of us who's reading this thread and noticed WillingToListen suicidal thought must have suicidal though occassionally ourselve. I know I do. Though I don't want to kill myself for sure. But I'm not value my own life too much either. Deep in my heart, I just want to quit. The good thing is his name "willingToListen". That implies that we don't want to die. We're looking for reason to live. We can all help WillingToListen in two ways. Of course, talking to him and encourage him to live is good. Another way is to get rid of our own thought of suicide. If you don't have any suicidal thought, you either don't find WillingToListen post anymore or WillingToListen doesn't want to suicide anymore. Love Conquers All.
  16. Taoist Third Eye Training?

I guess everyone is different. I'm not good at visualization. And I don't know how to say one prayer for 10 minutes either. The common approaches (candle/nose/star/brow gazing) don't require visiulization. And you get feeback about your process. I like samuel sagan's book.
  17. Spiritual growth and the strain on marriage

It's not her. It's you. Your true feeling about her is reflexed back on you. What happening around you is a mirror image of your true thought, feeling, emotion, speech and action. Allow me recap the development from begining when you started the spiritual path. You: wow, I've found something so cool and exciting. I'm so happy. Her: good, my hubby is so happy, I'm so glad. : a few month later You: I wish I could talk to someone about my cool discovery. Her: I wish my hubby can talk to me more. : a few month later You: I wish my wife be more spiritual like me. Her: I wish my old hubby back. : : Now You: Should I find a new wife? Her: My hubby doesn't love me anymore. I'm sure if you speak in your heart to her that you love her, you'll stay with her regardless what's happening and you're totally happy. And mena it. She'll be content with your spiritual practice.
  18. Intensity

Thanks for the reminder. It's kind of fall into the chronicity story. I wasn't happy about my progress a few month back. I started training harder and longer, two to four hours weekdays, and six to eight hours weekend. Finally last night I had a few divine revelation. One of them was "slow down". Then I saw your thread today.
  19. I don't go to Church, Synagogues or Temples because I have faith in myself. OR I have faith in my creator, who's provided everything I need to succeed whatever path I take. When I lose faith, i may go to these places to let others tell me where to walk.
  20. Spiritual growth and the strain on marriage

Wow, so many good insights that I can use myself as well. Love conquers all. Love yourself, love your wife, love your kids and love everyone and everything around you. The "solution" will present itself sooner or later. It takes time to learn new skills. I remember it took me a while to learn swimming. In the process, I choked on the dirty water, had cramped legs and minor ear infection. I took swimming to be healthy not to be sick. The set backs didn't stop me learning. Eventually I succeeded. The spiritual development is a lot harder. Allow yourself more time and patience, and occasionally set backs. If you can do that, you automatically give your wife more time and patience. Enjoy the journey. Buddha said it's better travel well than arrive early. What's the rush? We have all the time in the world. I heard that Finland is a beautiful country. I might visit it some day. To be honest, don't treat me tortillas that I can have it every day here. Can you prepare some Finland specialty if I visit you?
  21. Taoist Third Eye Training?

The classic taoist book "the secret of golden flower" talks in great details about the "third eye" thought it didn't mention it name directly. Because the "third eye" is more than just an "eye". The book also lists a few confirmation signposts of the development. The samual sagan (sp?) book about third eye is probably more accessible for beginners. The signs in this book are easier to obtain and verify. It advices to taste food through the "third eye", listen to music through the "third eye" and smell through the "third eye". The activation point is between the eye brows. Some taoist book to advice practioners to look through the nose tip all the time. There are some well known excercises to train third eye like candle gazing, star gazing and brow gazing. What you can "see" through the "third eye" depending on your own vibration rate and your karma/virtue. If you have a pure heart, you're more like to see heavenly scene and you're surrounded by angels. If you have a dart heart like the joker, you might see hell. Everyone around you is some sort of demon. You may also see the entity inside you if you subscribe to that belief. IMHO, your meditation can't go too far without a functional "third eye". "watch" your thoughts, "watch" your breath and "see" the illumination are common phrase in meditation books. Without "third eye", how do you "watch" or "see"?
  22. Questionable Mak Tin Si Sect

After reading their bio, I felt very sorry for them. They both had been abused as child. I'm glad that they found each other. I hope the best for everyone involved.
  23. Cousin Marriages

When uniformity is valuable, cousin marriages are encouraged. When diversity is valuable, cousin marriages are frowned upon. When they are the only two people in the whole word, I guess they have to reproduce regardless of marriage.
  24. Some Beginner Cultivation Tips

Alternate nostril breathing. Again this is well known method in yoga. I learned it a while ago, and I just wasn't sensative enough to know its effectiveness. Recently I started doing it again. Wow! It's so effective to clam my mind to meditation state. I have to remind myself to use it every day. I don't know the theory behind it. I couldn't find any plausible explaination online either.
