I stole the anglicised spelling from the Welsh, yes- though i am Irish and generally pronounce the term in the Irish way "Abhainn" (Ow-in). Well spotted Wayfarer... interestingly i originally tried to capture the name Wayfarer, but alas twas gone!

Well in a nut shell, i suppose i wanted to know how John Chang performed meditation- but i think specifically above i was asking whether his meditative experiences were akin to Shamanic Journeying or Zen type meditation as explained above. I think in the long term the first question is more pertinent.... is there any definitive source of instruction regarding his meditation (as opposed his superhuman capabilities)? Edit: by that i mean sources or resources that are potentially available.

I saw an advert for Li Family Physical Culture being discussed once- the organistion was a bit of an unknown entity. Do you teach Lee Style Tai Chi? Could you introduce the style to those members of the forum, including and especially myself, that are ignorant of it? Many thanks Awen Edit: perhaps my request was a bit careless, as i just realised that there is a plethora of information on the website

Edit: to correct typo Zazen is the practice of letting everything drop away, until one goes back to a promordial state... this is contrasted with what i suggested as being the understanding of JC's words that i came away with- nonetheless zen meditation when very deeply entered into by an individual of great capacity CAN lower heartbeat and in effect appears to be much akin to a bear's hibernation- however this is not what i was asking.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating it...... But moving back to the theme of this thread..... for the last number of years when i imagined JC performing "the meditation" i imagined that he moved into some hyper-reality whereby he would have simultaneous communion with spirits (i.e. his dead master) and ability to travel (a la astral travel) and access to vast tracts of knowledge that he otherwise would not have...... is this all unrealistic, and in fact the meditation is much more Zen-like? Or is it just a case that we dont know and are speculating? I think i should clarify the maybe obvious point that i have not read any of the books by former or alleged students of his.

Going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your firey words stem from English being your second language rather than your distance teacher's influence..... that said.... A BIG WELCOME!

Sorry Sifu Garry but i don't quite follow Do you mean it helps in the same way as making herbal tea does, or that one can transmit energy into others as a product of SYG training, thereby healing them?

yea bro, reviving the 7 year old thread to sell your book was a bit humorous, but doing it in multiple threads is just spamming -
bringing 7 year old threads back to life to try sell stuff..... tut tut!

i tried a bikini on once, but was asked to leave the shop..... damn consumerism!

I have read both current threads on SYG, and i keep reading the word "healing". Does SYG have a healing aspect that can be applied to others, or is it self-healing a la meditation?

I was just wondering why anytime i look up taobums in google and click on a page that is identified as coming from TTBS (i.e. this site) i get redirected to a site that appears to be either attempting to download spyware or malware onto my computer (i believe it is called URL4short.com or something of the sort). This website wont allow me to close the tab without clicking a few buttons on the page, and i continuously have to resort to closing all internet browsers using task manager. Has TTBS not been able to contact Google about this? Many thanks Awen

Hi RedSoul Yes JC is the reason that many many people sought out and joined this forum. Unfortunately that particular tradition is closed at the moment, and Mr. JC isnt taking on new students. Nonetheless, people have eventually come to terms with this and there are other systems of QiGong that ARE taking students. I hope your stay on the forums is a fruitful, positive and enlightening experience. All the best Awen
