  1. Quick MCO question.

Thanks for the advice guys, it's helping me a ton! I will try to focus on the surface of the skin for my next question. To answer your question, I feel the energy very, very strongly, and I can also adjust the intensity by changing focal area. For instance (the way I've been doing it anyway), if I focus on heart center point, in the middle of the chest, I can make it a very intense point the size of a golf ball, or I can expand it to the size of a grapefruit and cover more area, thereby distributing the intensity. This is one of the things that I find makes the practice so cumbersome for me; I have to focus very hard on the size, location and intensity of the focal points, because otherwise the energy tends to get out of control, for instance, it will jump out of the body, move a few inches in any direction, change shape, get stuck, split in half, etc. And that's also one of the main reasons for my question; depending on the intensity and location of my point of focus, I get different results, such as the energy getting harder to move to the next location, getting "stuck" more easily, etc. I have tried just letting go and not trying too hard but then it doesn't really feel like I have done anything at all when I'm finished, and it also makes me doze away. I have to either concentrate on my breathing to stay focused, and lose track of the energy, or focus on the energy, and lose the "emptiness" or "not overdoing it" aspect. On another tangent, is the energy supposed to feel 2 or 3-dimensional? In other words, should it feel like a ball, or should it feel like the surface of a circle (or whatever shape or area)? In regards to my saying I'm not getting much results, I am talking about the actual outcome of the practice. Oftentimes, I don't feel very different after the meditation compared to before I started, and sometimes I actually feel worse afterwards. Only on a few occasions have I felt a true tangible short-term benefit, which is why I started questioning whether I was actually doing it right in the first place. The active exercises (in SFQ) on the other hand, give me very positive tangible results both in the short and long term.
  2. Confusing experience.

Thank you for the very kind and helpful words. I understand what you are saying about there always being two sides on a coin. It's just a bit more worrisome for me when it involves rapid shifts in psychological states, especially anxiety (which also includes physical components such as heart rate and blood pressure). But in any case, I now know that these kinds of things aren't permanent and usually don't last much more than a day.
  3. Confusing experience.

Thank you so much. I found your reply really enlightening! What you say makes a lot of sense. The thing is, in SFQ, Master Lin recommends practicing as much as you want. His belief is that the more you practice, the more results you will get. I practice anywhere from 2-6 hours a day. I'm reluctant to give up SFQ for something else, because I don't think I have given it a fair shot. I was thinking at the 6 month mark, I would get a pretty good idea whether it is right for me. That said, I'm finding I am enjoying my SFQ practice less and less as time goes on. I am also feeling less connected to Master Lin. After having done several phone healing sessions and consultations with him, I not having benefited in any way, it made me lose some confidence in his system, which translates into my sessions being less productive. Ideally, the best thing would be for me to go see him in person, but I am currently unable to do so for financial reasons. He is a very kind and loving man, but that's not what this is about. So I'm wondering whether I should continue and see whether my faith in the system will somehow be resurrected, or go on and try something else altogether. Some of this is definitely due to lack of variety, as with most things that involve repetition, but I do not believe it to be the main reason. I am and looking into continuing to just do the Kundalini Yoga meditation I mentioned, perhaps 4-5 times a day, but I am not knowledgeable enough to know whether it is safe or practical do only be doing this type of meditation several times a day. It's also quite hard (as I have found out), to know which types of practices can go well together. It seems that your best option is to simply adhere to one system and stick with it, but that doesn't always pan out. For instance, if I start working with the yogic system and working on my chakras and raising Kundalini, will I be missing out on the other important aspects of energetic cultivation such as developing chi, storing chi in the Dan Tien, balancing and opening the various channels, etc. ? I have a lot of time to devote to cultivation, and it's something that I love doing very much, so I'm really not sure where to go with this.
  4. Quick MCO question.

Thanks for the advice. I have been doing a modified version of the MCO, called the "Small Universe", which was created by Master Chunyi Lin. I have been practicing every day diligently for the past few months... so I appreciate your recommendation, but I think my questions are very simple and straightforward, and don't require an entire book to find an answer. I also don't think it's a prerequisite for practicing the MCO. In Spring Forest Qigong, Master Lin's Small Universe is a beginning meditation which he states is completely safe for any practitioner, no matter what their level is. I have many, many books and videos about taoist alchemical practices, but because of all the conflicting information, I wanted to get some input from you guys.
  5. Hi everyone! There have been many enlightening discussions on how to gradually train your body to be able to sit in the full lotus posture. I have been performing a rigorous daily stretching program for almost 2 months now and I have made pretty good progress. However, my biggest issue is that I cannot full flex (extend) my ankles. Most people can do this without a problem, but I was born without this ability. I have incorporated ankle stretches into my program, but I am not seeing any progress in terms of ankle flexibility at all! I am starting to worry that this may be an anatomical abnormality that I have, and not just regular stiffness. I have read in many places such as here http://zenmontpellier.voila.net/eng/lotus/lotuseng.html (Scroll down to figure. 13) that it is very bad to attempt the lotus or half lotus position without having your ankles fully flexed as it adds a lot of stress on the knee joint. And I can attest to that! Although through all the practice I have done, I am now able to sit in half-lotus relatively easily, after sitting in this posture for a while (anywhere from 15-45 minutes), my knees are in excruciating pain when I get out of the posture and it takes a few minutes before I'm able to walk. So what should I do? If it's not a good idea to practice the lotus position because of my ankles, how can I practice it at all? Should I just continue working on all my stretches and simply leave out actually sitting in the posture until my ankles become more loose? It really really sucks, because after having sat in the posture, I can really attest to the numerous tangible benefits it has had on my meditations, and now I will have to give that up. Do any of you bums have the same problem as I do? Any tips on increasing ankle flexibility? Stretching my ankles is the most painful thing *ever* for me. It is ridiculously painful for some reason. I cannot even sit in za-zen for more than a few minutes (sitting with your butt on the bottom of your feet) at a time. Any advice at all would be extremely appreciated!
  6. Is Jing = Sperm?

Hi everyone! I have read in many, many places that jing is stored in semen, but I have not found a definitive answer to the following question: Is it the jing located in the actual sperm cells, in the seminal fluid, or an alchemical by-product carried within the liquid but not in a physical form. If one is infertile (due to hormonal treatment; can produce seminal fluid but not sperm), does this mean that jing is conserved? If it is conserved, can it be manipulated in the same way as if it were stored in the sperm cells? Where does it stay before relocating in the sperm?
  7. I sincerely apologize if this is the inappropriate section of the forum to be posting this, but I figured it would get more views. I'm desperately trying to find an obscure file that I know occult.bz has, however, they recently closed sign-ups and it became invite-only. If you have an invite, could you please PM me? I have a lot of original stuff to contribute myself. All the best!
  8. alternatatives for the tao bums?

Dude! I applied for membership over a week ago and never got a reply. =( edit: Nevermind! Turns out I just never got a confirmation. All is well.
  9. Sitting in Full Lotus

Very inspiring! I had been doing a rigurous stretching regimen for about a month and got to half lotus and I sort of gave up.... This thread has made me decide to keep on truckin'!
  10. What is Enlightenment?

My favorite is Alan Watts' description of enlightenment: "Everything feels like normal every-day reality except you're floating about 2 inches off the ground"
  11. DMT is the polar opposite of a state of emptiness. It is pure chaos. Awe-inspiring, blissful, terrifying... but chaotic. It's as far from a meditative experience as you could possibly get. Ayahuasca is way overrated as well IMO. I know people that have done it multiple times and have gained nothing from it. It's not a very life-changing experience.
  12. Dr. Yan Xin

Dude... you're selling the PDF for 50$ ??? I'm no legal expert but I think you're breaking a few IP laws there buddy.
  13. Dr. Yan Xin

Dude, you ROCK. Thank you! If you don't mind, could you share your experience with these tapes?
  14. Dr. Yan Xin

It's been a couple of days and still no news from the forum. Are there any special requisites or something...?
  15. Dr. Yan Xin

Same here... how long does it typically take to approve a new membership? I haven't received any confirmation emails or anything and it's been a while now. Anyway, can't wait to join the group!
  16. Dr. Yan Xin

Let's keep this thread alive in hopes the elders (lol) will spot it and can chime in. I'm going to start the first book this evening.
  17. Dr. Yan Xin

Ah.. I didn't know what you guys were talking about... I hadn't even started reading the first book ... lol. I'm going to get on it! So if I understand correctly... it only describes step 1.... step 1 of what exactly? The 9-step child longevity program??
  18. Dr. Yan Xin

There's lots of places selling it online that might be able to ship to the UK. What's in that book exactly?
  19. Dr. Yan Xin

There were some members on here discussing the tape about 4 years ago... if we're lucky they might stumble upon this thread. Otherwise, I fear it is pretty much impossible to get.
  20. Dr. Yan Xin

Well, I literally went through 15 pages of google to no avail. Nothing. Nada. Does anyone have an invite to theoccult.bz ? Perhaps I might have some luck there?
  21. Dr. Yan Xin

Does anyone know where I can get the "Child Longevity Nine Step Qigong" audio tape? There was some discussion on this a few years ago on the board and it seems the only place you could get it were on eBay and even then they were poor quality counterfeits. Does anyone still have a copy? I'd be willing to buy it since it seems impossible to find anywhere!
  22. Dr. Yan Xin

Very interesting! This is the first time I hear of this man. Google was not able to provide much in terms of published material... (except for the one book that was mentioned here). Mostly anecdotal accounts.
  23. Need a healthy reminder...

Hey guys, I apologize if this doesn't belong here, but I'm in need of a bit of support. For months I have been on the right path with my practice, my perspective, with life, with everything. I was doing so great! I never missed a single qigong or meditation session in my schedule (which I do about 10 hours a day of), not even once. Then my ex-girlfriend came back into the picture a few weeks ago (she broke up with me half a year ago), and things started getting bad for me. She is now dating someone else, but claims she still loves me and all that silly stuff. However, I'm not allowed to see her or call her.... the whole thing is very complicated and totally nuts! My ego came back full-force, I realized just how much control I am allowing her to have over me, and it is affecting my life in a very negative way. During my practice, my meditations, and during my sleep, she always appears. It took me a long time to be able to stop thinking about her, but now she is back in the forefront of my consciousness. I feel like I have lost my connection with my true inner self and divinity, and I'm having a hard time getting it back. I know it's only a matter of time before things get back to normal, but sometimes just a few words can have such a tremendous impact.... I love you bums and thank you for being here!
  24. Need a healthy reminder...

Wow! Lots of great posts since I last checked. I will absolutely read them all but I don't have the time right now. I just wanted to say that (today), I thought about her maybe once an hour, and only for a couple of minutes at a time, whereas before that, it was pretty much constantly (very bad)... like once every 5 minutes for 5 minutes... so yeah.. all the time lol. If I can keep this up I'm golden. I think that if I reperform the ritual, I will have to imagine the cords still being attached? I think that would be counterproductive since I already cut them, no? Anyway, thanks again my fellow bums. You are saving me hundreds of dollars in therapy haha
  25. Need a healthy reminder...

I just performed a cord severage, following some basic guidelines I found online and my own experience and intuition, and I suggested to her to do the same, at the same hour as I did. I must say I feel immensely better. I don't know if I did it right, but I sure as heck think it worked. I have read some places that this ritual must be repeated a couple of times to be effective. Is this so?
