Practice, lifestyle, and personal preference
oildrops replied to Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan's topic in Daoist Discussion
I think it would be delusional to disregard my physical existence as a conduit to the energetic self, so I view my body as an antennae. Sometimes as a science experiment. I wouldn't intentionally mistreat a plant or animal, but I sometimes mistreat my own body out of unconsciousness. I try not to think of immortality. I see no difference if my energy remains intact- when my body is no longer pumping matter around in its machine like state- or disperses into infinite fragments or somewhere in between. It's not in my control. I think there is a balance between enjoying the pleasures this world has to offer, and enjoying the clarity gained from choosing pleasures wisely. -

Advantages and Disadvantages of staying in the Lower Dan Tien

I think focusing on anything too intensely would cause an imbalance. Focusing on different centers for me can affect a change in perception. If the perception becomes too intense (like when I center on any one point for too long) then I will move my awareness somewhere else and gently until I am not focused on anything at all. If there is too much energy in one part of my body and not in another, then I imagine my body is an empty chamber where energy naturally wants to disperse evenly. So my goal is to relax enough so the awareness is sinking and rising/ expanding and contracting at the same time, adding a little extra attention to areas I feel blockages, but accepting the blockage and then letting it know it can leave. I mean why hang around here blockage? There are so many other things out there to not block. I have generally had a difficult time with energy lumping in my throat and upper chest, and then it seems to want to disperse out into my arms rather than through the solar plexus. -

You can create your own utopia in most places. I am coming to the realization though, that it's much harder to do in some areas on the US. We are on a fast decline here. -

Yeah? What's the difference? The universe does not care. I sure as hell do. (btw, difference is 3 syllables... )

I think chanting and alternate nostril breath pranayama would be helpful to balance the brain hemispheres. Sometimes all the body needs is a good workout. I used to have paranoid/delusional episodes.

Good story. What kind of rock were you? Metamorphic seems appropriate. I'm sure the spider forgives you.

Can you give any insight on how you identify emotional and psychic vampires? I would think it is different for everyone, based on personal weaknesses. A side note: those "weaknesses" are what creates our need for others, but I guess it comes down to people either exploiting your weakness to make you dependent, or helping you strengthen and grow. I could use better intuition for avoiding emotional vampires.

I'm feeling this as well lately. It seems to me people just love to shit on each other. We are bred to become competitive and aggressive and those traits have been accepted and perpetuated. I still continue to be open to people, it's just a matter of not becoming attached and/or letting go when their plans no longer run parallel to my own. One thing I have learned from moving around is that it's important to have acquaintances, and hard to find friends, because good people hide out and those acquaintances will help you network.

Breakfast: Oats with Maple syrup and hemp seed, or two eggs fried in vegetable oil over salad Snack/lunch: Smoothie, Nuts, and Seeds, Fruit, Veggies and Hummus Dinner: Greens, Brown Rice, Fish (Salmon, Trout, Sardines) Beans, Whole Wheat Pasta, Fruit, Steamed Vegetables. I use a lot of spices for this meal, and eat the leftovers for lunch the next day. A lot of days I just snack on Fruits, Veggies, and nuts all day. If I want to eat something bad, I'll just eat it. No use fighting against Ice cream. I buy thin skinned vegetables organic when I can afford it. The most important things for me to feel good are to limit white flour, sugar, and dairy.

I can say from experience that a backpacking trip as a first date can go incredibly well. You'll want to get your backpacking chops together though, I don't think most women like to take care of their man in the woods. Vmarco has some good advice for you. You don't need to spend a lot of money to put together a good pack, just remember to bring lots of ways to start a fire and proper insulation. Here's another tip: Dark beer in cans.

I think what white wolf is referring to is the atomic structure of water reacting (geometrically?) to the energy of the blueberry, sunshine, and the worm poo and migrant workers that grew it. http://is-masaru-emoto-for-real.com/ I like the idea, I think that if we can change our own and others resonance with intent, then why not food and water? I would like to see more research on the subject.
