Having a cigarrette just puts smokers back in the state in which a non-smoker is in all the time (i.e. not suffering nicotine withdrawal). Allen Carr wrote a great book (The Easy Way to Stop Smoking) which reveals the confidence trick in great detail. Once you've seen through this con, you lose all desire to smoke. It a bit like discovering that you're already wearing the spectacles for which you're searching. (There's an obvious parallel with some spiritual paths here. )

Has anyone had bad experiences in Neidan and overcome them?

Kundalini: The Evolutionary Energy in Man by Gopi Krishna is indeed a must-read for anyone interested in playing-around with this stuff. The outcome for Gopi Krishna (after an horrific ordeal lasting decades) was, basically, that he cut-off from normal human relationships and that he could write in verse, in different languages and he claimed to be a prophet. After reading this autobiography, if you're still interested in Kundalini Yoga, you'd probably be wise to find an appropriately-qualified* teacher and practicing under their personal supervision. Make sure that you meet the teacher and his/her students in-person and ask yourself if s/he and they walk-the-walk (are they happy and at peace?). *Lineage, lineage, lineage. -
That's an Interesting reply but it doesn't actually answer the question. Never mind. Thanks anyway.

That's very kind - but I can't think of anything to add.

It's extremely interesting to view this from a Taoist vantage-point rene. Thank you.

I'd be interested in knowing whether you consider that Wei Wu Wei (Terence Grey) gets it "right" as well.

It's more "kitten" than "little cat" but "little cat" is fine as well. You just need to find partners who don't mind you treading on their toes for a while - it's about far more than the moves anyway - as I'm sure you know.

Help with two (divine?) experiences since I began meditating.

The first "experience" sounds like it might be what some people refer to as "Enlightenment" or a "Glimpse". A glimpse may be full or partial. It is a gift of Grace, although many people mistakenly attribute it to being a result of the practice that they were doing at the moment of the "Glimpse". This can be real a problem for many people because they can seek to repeat the "experience" instead of integrating it. Following a "Glimpse" this period of integration (not unusually years or decades) sometimes leads to what some people label Self-realisation. I'm unaware of the existence of any rule which states that you should not discuss these "experiences", however, it might be wise to bit a bit circumspect in certain situations (e.g. at work ). -
