Why is "Enlightened Movies" in Off Topic?
  3. Fake News

In fact, to bring it back on-topic, it's about Skinner's pigeons.
  4. Existence, Life.

If Nisargadatta said that, he was very misleading because it can be seen in two ways; one of which is completely wrong.
  5. That's a nice segue to the next point that I wanted to raise which is the safety aspects of learning a practice (even one as apparently safe as the practice of Lovingkindness meditation - let alone one which is stated to be a 50:50/blue pill:red pill situation). The way that I look at this is influenced by my encounter with Chaos theory a couple of decades ago.
  6. Dunbar's Number also needs to be taken into careful consideration because of the practical implications.
  7. Rainbow Body....a matter of karma?

What do you think spiritual development is? What are you striving to achieve?
  8. The problem is that most people don't actually listen to themselves in a meaningful way, because if they did so, they wouldn't harm themselves (and they'd do their best to avoid harming others). Facts and logic won't do it - but there are other ways of helping people to learn to make healthy decisions. If you can teach your children to be emotionally literate (which can only be done by modeling that yourselves - i.e. both parents plus - in today's society - your healthy group of friends/extended family) then they will naturally learn to make healthy decisions when they're adults.

Aikido decides life and death in a single strike, so students must carefully follow the instructor's teaching and not compete to see who is the strongest. Aikido is the way that teaches how one can deal with several enemies. Students must train themselves to be alert not just to the front but to all sides and the back. Training should always be conducted in a pleasant and joyful atmosphere. The instructor teaches only one small aspect of the art. Its versatile applications must be discovered by each student through incessant practice and training. In daily practice first begin by moving your body and then progress to more intensive practice. Never force anything unnaturally or unreasonably. If this rule is followed, then even elderly people will not hurt themselves and they can train in a pleasant and joyful atmosphere. The purpose of aikido is to train mind and body and to produce sincere, earnest people. Since all techniques are to be transmitted person-to-person, do not randomly reveal them to others, for this might lead to their being used by hoodlums. Morihei Ueshiba (ca.1935)

Unfortunately, the "criticism" here was never polite (let alone respectful). Here's an exellent example of a dissenting voice (flowing hands) starting his own thread to voice respectful and polite criticism. Job done.

The Owner's Permissions present an interesting conundrum. From my perspective, on the one hand, if I still wanted to teach my Path here, I could easily so do. On the other hand, when I come across something that I consider to be potentially dangerous (or at best an exercise in futility), it's still a bit difficult to issue a clear and unambiguous warning.
  14. Incidentally, who is "Abraham"?
  15. I should perhaps have made it clear that I wasn't advocating the "thinking" step in the way that might be implied from my response.
  16. This is true roger. Do you see clearly how this process unfolds and what to do if you find that initial step elusive?

  19. I think that most of us are indeed bored shitless Karl. I'm just cutting to the chase for us (the bored shitless group).
  20. That isn't what I said Karl. That's another way that you get it wrong.
