Getting involved in Afganistan was not France's way to make up with the US for being so verbal about being opposed to the war in Iraq. ISIS would not have a base of operations in Iraq but for the incredibile stupidity of Bush and Blair.

No. France considers that ISIS (and AQ) needs to be "wiped out" but that the USA was wrong to invade Iraq in the first place and the French continue to refuse to step foot in the place (at the moment). However, although they are not putting boots on the ground, they are dropping munitions and prior to the incidents in Paris they had already dispatched the "Charlie" (de Gaulle) to ensure that they could fly these interdictions from French territory. Furthermore, regarding Africa: despite wordwide howls of protest (at the time) the French hit AQ in Mali hard and fast and there are still some 3,500 French and Foreign regulars and irregulars mopping-up the remnants of AQ in North Africa.

Because there's nothing other than Advaita the question is meaningless in this context. Why do you imagine that Advaita (Impersonal Consciousness) would need defend itself against anything? (That's rhetorical BTW). If you can't grasp the points made in the OP video then you're wasting your time with a Direct Path approach and you need to prequalify yourself by following a Cosmological Path first.

The separation between church and state is at the heart of the issue - whether it is the Catholic church or the Islamic church (or indeed any other church). The meddling of any religion in secular matters will simply not be tolerated. Conversely, religion is considered to be a private matter with which the state should not interfere, unless it chooses to attempt to interfere with the state.... Furthermore, since the revolution, there is a culture of questioning all authority and holding it accountable. You would probably have to live in France for quite a long time to understand the complexities and subtleties. Certainly, no-ones going to be able to explain it fully on an internet forum. As for the OP, speaking for myself, I couldn't care less.

These dickheads should certainly not be killed except under circumstances that a failure to use lethal force would allow them to kill or to seriously injure other innocents. It's my sincere hope that they're taken alive, tried according to French law for what they have done and locked safely away from civilised people, if it's found that the idiots who did this are the ones put on trial. They should certainly not be tortured because the rule of law as agreed by the democratic will of the people in a free-thinking, civilised society should not be jeopardised by the actions of these primitive, medieval twats, who in no way represent the true face of Islam. Just read some Rumi for confirmation if you've the slightest doubt about that fact. This is not Rumi... Why are we still laughing at you? Isn't that obvious..
