So was he a buddha?
-
Why do you think it's relevant?
-
Thanks Jetsun.
-
Excellent point. If the teacher isn't a buddha - how can they teach the Truth?
-
Sure. That was rude of me CT. I apologise.
-
I'd be interested in seeing the actual quote please Jetsun because I think that you may have misrepresented the thrust of his point (please note the may). Although this is very much a relative truth, I'd hope that even hard-core Buddhists would agree that this is a wise default position to adopt, at least up to the point that ultimate Truth has been realised (and perhaps afterwards if that's a way that liberated innate happiness freely chooses to express itself in the world)?
-
That's a bit too obscure for me, so I'll leave you discuss that with someone who's interested.
-
Finished now?
-
I've noticed that too.
-
I've noticed that.
-
.......for making my point for me.
-
Thanks again.

You're very welcome CT - but again, I'll leave that to you because, as I said, I find no fault in God's creation.
-
Interestingly, I didn't name him and he shamed himself: so you'll have to deal with the insincere ones by yourself CT. As for setting the world to rights - I'll leave that to you as well because, as far as I can see, God hasn't screwed up.
-
Absolutely not. He's by no means the only insincere hawker of fairy stories.
-
You don't need siddhis and you don't need to tell fairy stories to see when someone's insincere. I've sat directly in front of a so-called rinpoche trying to inflate his own importance and that of his 'teachings" with such fairy stories and by the time he'd finishished he couldn't look me in the eye.
-
You're welcome. I prefer this solid lettering.
-
It's not my area of expertise - just opinion and preference but I think that the existing banner has too much going on and it isn't as warm as the other one. I prefer the colours and the simplicity of the other one. Maybe there are some graphics people here who could help?

De nada Ken BTW I saw that MPG had designed this one as well: - I really like that. Perhaps instead of splitting the Neigong Forum either side of the meditating figure it would look better if the silhouette was moved over to the far left (because there's not much going on in the scenery shot there and the RH side is more interesting in that respect? Also, because "Neigong Forum" is intrinsically asymmetric it may work better if you don't split it with the silhouette?

@ Rara Interesting question. I dealt with this quite thoroughly in the Buddhism 101 Course that I ran but as you seem to have missed it I'll answer it again by PM by the end of next week (or in person, if you want to meet up over a tea/coffeee).
-
You're correct - no real teacher would eject a sincere seeker. The insincere eject themselves (although they occasionally need some assistance in finding the exit). The sincere will come across a real teacher and, as you seem sincere, don't abandon the search prematurely. You could find someone able and willing to help you much sooner than you imagine.

That first link is very sad - I hope she's OK now. Some people seem to be very badly affected by TM Here's something else that's worth a read for anyone tempted by the TM nonsense: - http://minet.org/ (minet.org) http://thetaobums.com/topic/20595-mantras/ (thetaobums.com/topic/20595-mantras)
