@ Owledge I have found a strange passage: They became troubled because Adam had recovered from all the trials. They assembled and laid plans, and they said, "Behold Adam! He has come to be like one of us, so that he knows the difference between the light and the darkness. Now perhaps he will be deceived, as in the case of the Tree of Knowledge, and also will come to the Tree of Life and eat from it, and become immortal, and become lord, and despise us and disdain us and all our glory! Then he will denounce us along with our universe. Come, let us expel him from Paradise, down to the land from which he was taken, so that henceforth he might not be able to recognize anything better than we can." And so they expelled Adam from Paradise, along with his wife. And this deed that they had done was not enough for them. Rather, they were afraid. They went in to the Tree of Life and surrounded it with great fearful things, fiery living creatures called "Cheroubin", and they put a flaming sword in their midst, fearfully twirling at all times, so that no earthly being might ever enter that place. The Tree of Life? hmm -
Just curious if anyone follows a western mystical tradition (in addition) and any similarities? differences? with eastern... in a general sense I believe in ancestral knowledge / blood/ DNA knowing? Being of European decent I assume if I found the traditions of my ancestor I would resonate more with the teachings... / though i may have had past lives within other racial groups? although truth is truth in particular Celtic / Druidic I have briefly look at Hermetics and Egyptian any help would be greatly appreciated

@Zhongyongdaoist - I appreciate your response and insights, do you have a blog or something? (edit: http://innersagetao.net cool ) Building on your last post: The Notitia contains the earliest known depictions of the diagram which later came to be known as yin and yang symbol.[1][2][3] The infantry units armigeri defensores seniores ("shield-bearers") and Mauri Osismiaci had a shield design which corresponds to the dynamic, clockwise version of the symbol.[1] The emblem of the Thebaei, another Western Roman infantry regiment, featured a pattern of concentric circles comparable to its static version. The Roman patterns predate the earliest Taoist versions by almost seven hundred years.[1] ^ a b c d Giovanni Monastra: The "Yin-Yang" among the Insignia of the Roman Empire?, Sophia, Bd. 6, Nr. 2 (2000) ^ In Celtic art, the motif of two interlocking commas that appear to swirl is a recurrent one which can be traced back to the late 5th century BC.[9] With a view to the much later Chinese symbol, art historians of the La Tène culture refer anachronistically to these clinging pairs as "yin yang".[1] Ancient languages are fascinating, I have only just began looking into this... amazed at the similarities Basically if you can read Sanskrit you can read Old Slavic + old runic alphabets found in ancient Egypt? The mythologies are very similar also - For the most part the history we were taught at school is complete bogus for some reason there has been great effort to keep the past hidden, distorted etc this passage always has me intrigued According to the biblical account, a united humanity of the generations following the Great Flood, speaking a single language and migrating from the east, came to the land of Shinar, where they resolved to build a city with a tower "with its top in the heavens...lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the Earth." God came down to see what they did and said: "They are one people and have one language, and nothing will be withholden from them which they purpose to do." So God said, "Come, let us go down and confound their speech." And so God scattered them upon the face of the Earth, and confused their languages, and they left off building the city, which was called Babel "because God there confounded the language of all the Earth."(Genesis 11:5-8). Arkaim: Russia’s Ancient City & the Arctic Origin of Civilisation "The Babylonians believed in a mysterious paradise in “the far north” where a race of great sages lived; and the ancient Greeks too extolled a northern Elysium in which they believed the Hyperboreans, a wise, peaceful and long-lived race, lived in great splendour and prosperity. Even though Delphi was regarded as the centre of the Greek world, its god Apollo and his sister, the goddess Artemis, were acknowledged to be originally deities of this secret land far to the north, where stood the cosmic axle that the Greeks called Helice, “That Which Turns.” Many Greek historians as well as later scholars located this northern paradise in Scythia or the Altai, and as having its source in the shamanism that grew up around the semi-mythical magicians and pole-lords of Altai. But research and sacred tradition both suggest its origins go further back still to northeastern Asia within the Arctic Circle, to a society that flourished on the shores of the Siberian Sea." http://www.newdawnmagazine.com/articles/arkaim-russias-ancient-city-the-arctic-origin-of-civilisation

I do remember one account of an aya experience I read some time ago... these two forces... one of light and one of dark... the dark was trying to "get them" bring them down etc into their world? the light side was telling her not to give into fear etc and to rise with them easier said then done I guess are these things you? aspects of... of subconscious thought forms? I have had one experience where I became quite in touch with my thoughts and the effects... in terms of negative thoughts... i was like binding myself with razor wire tighter and tighter... constricting myself -

I have contemplated "self-annihilation", I figure that it will have to come sooner or later... this personality will die, from dreams - I have been other people/ actors? something ties them together though..which is beyond them / behind the mask. So maybe we both die and are born at the same time into our fullest expression. I have one assurance and that is, that ultimately I AM THE GREAT TAO (WE ARE).. Chuang Tzu and the Butterfly? usually we perceive being either Chuang Tzu or the Butterfly / each not knowing of the other - What if we can perceive both at the same time? To know you are both? to know you are many... you may die one death but gain infinity. Or you are this consciousness dreaming of all these different experiences... So maybe Chuang Tzu isnt both... but is just Chuang Tzu dreaming of being a butterfly. I sometimes do a mirror meditation... staring at this body... disconnecting from it... not identify with it in anyway (I find this quite simple)... and the body becomes this total foreign thing... which can be scary seeing this stranger in the mirror staring back at you... if I look longer my body seems to disappear and I can see the wall behind "me" / observation point... perhaps once you realize you are not the body / beyond it... perhaps one is not the personality (just another body / vessel / mask that we play with) so perhaps the "self annihilation" is simply taking off the mask ^^ all guess work - @ present I can't imagine what you have experienced directly or how I would react in a similar situation or that you haven't contemplated these things already I guess your experience is more intense? than others because you are at a different level/ degree junior league / a league / pros etc maybe they are getting solutions to junior league... but your beyond that now... we only get what we can handle? I have another thought Perhaps you need to take this plant head on... do not yield to it... command it... with great will / authority (with respect )- have clear intentions beforehand... what you want to achieve + questions that you want to ask, go in prepd. if the plant tries to overwhelm you, push forward, never surrender - tame it. Will is everything without will = self annihilation - havn't a clue - hope this is of some use peace! ps: youve had similar experiences a couple of times but have been able to keep it at bay? so you know that you are in control ultimately Maybe even ask it, What lies beyond this "point of no return" what am I to expect if I take this leap? What are the alternatives? -

Interesting stuff Sinfest - I have looked into Norse mythology a little myself, never made teh chakra connection Odins story is an interesting one Before the world existed, he and his two younger brothers, Vili and Ve, killed the primal frost giant Ymir. They used Ymir's bones, blood, and flesh to form the universe. Odin arranged the heavens for the gods, the middle world for humans and dwarfs, and the underworld for the dead. He then created the first man and woman from an ash tree and an elm tree. Odin was credited with great wisdom, including knowledge of magic and divination. He had paid a high price for this gift, however, giving one of his eyes in exchange for a drink from the well of Mimir. The waters of this well, which seeped from among the roots of the World Tree Yggdrasill, contained great wisdom. Another myth says that Odin stabbed himself with his magical spear, called Gungnir, and hung from Yggdrasill for nine days and nights in a living death. This self-sacrifice gave him knowledge of the runes, the Norse symbols used for writing and fortune-telling. Thanks Jetsun, I will have a look at that also you may find this article interesting excerpt from http://www.northernway.org/school/onwarticles.html Vedic Origins of the Europeans: The Danavas, Children of Danu from http://www.vedanet.com Note: This article shows how the Proto-European Aryans, like the Celts, were originally a Vedic people called the Danavas or Sudanavas (good Danavas) connected to Vedic kings, sages and yogis. Many ancient European peoples, particularly the Celts and Germans, regarded themselves as children of Danu, with Danu meaning the Mother Goddess, who was also, like Sarasvati in the Rig Veda, a river Goddess. The Celts called themselves "Tuatha De Danaan", while the Germans had a similar name. Ancient European river names like the Danube and various rivers called Don in Russia, Scotland, England and France reflect this, as do place names like Den-mark (Danava-Marga), to mention but a few. The Danube which flows to the Black Sea is their most important river and could reflect their eastern origins. In fact, the term Danu or Danava (the plural of Danu) appears to form the substratum of Indo-European identity at the base of the Hellenic, Illyro-Venetic, Italo-Celtic, Germanic and Balto-Slavic elements. The northern Greeks were also called Danuni. Therefore, the European Aryans could probably all be called Danavas. ///

Thanks Scotty - I will have a look I have a feeling that the land/ earth will bring forth as does naturally keepers of the wisdom/ earth / ancestors / mediators perhaps we are called, but yet to find or maybe we have to start again or unlock our DNA / ancestral knowledge somehow - Before I just saw a video of a Mo Pai/ lineage holder / shaman who had a vision of the future - / how history was moving on and the old wisdom was vanishing... will there be new wisdom? or no wisdom? hmmm

how do you manage to maintain the mundane and the divine? i desire for the most to study things of an esoteric nature, find myself and so on. another part of me says I have to contribute to humanity and at least try to alleviate some of the darkness... "save the world" < maybe its the way its suppose to be / doesnt need saving, just save yourself from the cycle / unconsciousness. i am close to finishing my uni studies (architecture), though i feel whats the point? i'll just be adding to the mess... most of the modern world i find soulless, meaningless, degrading - humans < what fantastic potential... breaks my heart to see people working like robots I feel the monastic life maybe just as much a trap... perhaps a wandering sage? haha i think the Tao is breaking me down

Why man must give up Food and Sex in order to Evolve
eye_of_the_storm replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
I, nobody must do anything - unless your overloads tell you to. The things posted are valid to a degree and to the degree of the person reading them We (society) do need a lot of refining in terms of diet and sexuality Only .01% maybe ready for such as the above... living on light etc Repression can be corrosive As Osho would say..something like - have sex, have lots of sex, have so much sex you come to a point where you no longer desire it... then you can focus on the path... but do not repress and try to practice while sex, sex, sex is always on your mind. He had a little story: Monks always went to him asking about sex Prostitutes went to him and asked him about spiritual things - the prostitutes are more qualified for spiritual teaching? I dont think no.no is 100% necessary but we do need to refine Most of the accounts of Taoist sages/ immortals (that i have read (limited)) - diet was very limited (but expanding) - fresh mountain herbs and pure water + air which one could say is light? light + water (liquid light?) = plants, fruit, trees? Everything is just a dense form of light (sound?(OM?))... enlightenment... maybe referring to weight also / density of things... one must become lighter...lighter than air? maybe thats how the immortals could fly through the sky... i believe it totally. Mountain herbs + pure air, water = very light forms of energy... you are what you eat. Its a science, not speculation. Then i suppose we move onto cosmic sex and eternal/infinite mirrors...eyes, window? and union with the divine through sex... but how many ppl have met another with such ideals, willing to practice? One has sex to transcend, not out of lust... perhaps out of deep devotion on a number of levels // sacred union of yin and yang Shiva and Shakti -

@ OldGreen To practice Zen or the Martial Arts, you must live intensely, wholeheartedly, without reserve - as if you might die in the next instant" - Taisen Des awesome quote and thanks for the advice @ thelerner I have been considering ("wandering sage" style, haha) travel as my alternative, starting off in my own country/ natural environment and working/ helping on farms etc to pay my way + so I can maintain connection to nature + flexible / I can really start to go with the Tao take a sketch book with me too thank you @ Harmonious Emptiness more helpful advice greatly appreciated - thank you and thank you also Gerard @ Small Fur you may have missed To see the divine in the mundane = the divine being dull, lacking interest, of baseness though i agree in part every atom being a spark of the divine etc I see the divine in nature, music, art, spoken + written word, through some humans but what isnt Nature? perhaps I should say "higher" expressions of the divine / or more conscious expressions of the divine? but i still think there is more to it.. in terms of "good" and "bad" it is difficult to deal in absolutes, when you are not absolute? peace -

Hmm thanks Tulku excellent response I am also aware of the dark occult agendas on this planet and the massive collective trauma humanity experienced ages past. I have done small fasts before and have experienced the things you mentioned in small degrees longest fast has been 3 days... after that I felt much lighter spiritually/physically + heighten senses, peace, my need for sleep went to about 4-5 hours and was waking up completely refreshed + more vivid dreams I have wanted to go further, but it takes time + working up to it, which i have never done, just jumping in + lack of a clean/ natural, quite environment, being pulled back into the world. I am vegetarian though, health maintained I will again become more serious about fasting -

Hello Tulku, Thanks for your responses - I may join a monastery... perhaps skip the bloody ones though or maybe my own hermitage somewhere in the mountains It would be nice to join a "spiritual" community or at least people so inclined i understand and like your serious straight forward attitude... perhaps there is too much middle path? and getting nowhere / day dreaming and fence sitting all this non action action stuff ahah < though I do understand this concept - being "in the zone"? kinda thing -
