Shiva’s 112 Meditation Techniques 1. Radiant one, this experience may dawn between two breaths. After breath comes in (down) and just before turning up (out)—the beneficence. 2. As breath turns down from down to up, and again as breath curves from up to down—through both these turns, realize. 3. Or, whenever in-breath and out-breath fuse, at this instant touch the energy-less, energy-filled center. 4. Or, when breath is all out (up) and stopped of itself, or all in (down) and stopped – in such universal pause, one’s small self vanishes. This is difficult only for the impure. 5. Consider your essence as light rays from center to center up the vertebrae, and so rises livingness in you. 6. Or in the spaces between, feel this as lightning. 7. Devi, imagine the Sanskrit letters in these honey-filled foci of awareness, first as letters, then more subtly as sounds, then as most subtle feeling. Then, leaving them aside, be free. 8. Attention between eyebrows, let mind be before thought. Let form fill with breath essence to the top of the head and there shower as light. 9. Or, imagine the five-colored circles of the peacock tail to be your five senses in illimitable space. Now let their beauty melt within. Similarly, at any point in space or on a wall—until the point dissolves. Then your wish for another comes true. 10. Eyes closed, see your inner being in detail. Thus see your true nature. 11. Place your whole attention in the nerve, delicate as the lotus thread, in the center of your spinal column. In such be transformed. 12. Closing the seven openings of the head with your hands, a space between your eyes becomes all-inclusive. 13. Touching eyeballs as a feather, lightness between them opens into heart and there permeates the cosmos. 14. Bathe in the center of sound, as in the continuous sound of a waterfall. Or by putting the fingers in the ears, hear the sound of sounds. 15. Intone a sound, as a-u-m, slowly. As sound enters soundfulness, so do you. 16. In the beginning and gradual refinement of the sound of any letter, awake. 17. While listening to stringed instruments, hear their composite central sound; thus omnipresence. 18. Intone a sound audibly, then less and less audibly as feeling deepens into this silent harmony. 19. Image spirit simultaneously within and around you until the entire universe spiritualizes. 20. Kind Devi, enter etheric presence pervading far above and below your form. 21. Put mindstuff in such inexpressible fineness above, below and in your heart. 22. Consider any area of your present form as limitlessly spacious. 23. Feel your substance, bones, flesh, bold, saturated with the cosmic essence. 24. Suppose your passive form to be an empty room with walls of skin—empty. 25. Blessed one, as senses are absorbed in the heart, reach the center of the lotus. 26. Unminding mind, keep in the middle—until. 27. When in worldly activity, keep attention between two breaths, and so practicing, in a few days be born anew. 28. Focus on fire rising through your form from the toes up until the body burns to ashes but not you. 29. Meditate on the make-believe world as burning to ashes and become being above human. 30. Feel the fine qualities of creativity permeating your breasts and assuming delicate configurations. 31. With an intangible breath in center of forehead, as this reaches heart at the moment of sleep, have direction over dreams and over death itself. 32. As subjectively, letters flow into words and words into sentences, and as, objectively, circles flow into worlds and worlds into principles, find at last these converging in our being. 33. Gracious One, play. The universe is an empty shell wherein your mind frolics infinitely. 34. Look upon a bowl without seeing the sides or the material. In a few moments become aware. 35. Abide in some place endlessly spacious, clear of trees, hills, habitations. Thence comes the end of mind pressures. 36. Sweet hearted one, meditate on knowing and not-knowing, existing and not-existing. Then leave both aside that you may be. 37. Look lovingly at some object. Do not go to another object. Here in the middle of the object—the blessing. 38. Feel the cosmos as a translucent ever-living presence. 39. With utmost devotion, center on the two junctions of breath and know the knower. 40. Consider the plenum to be your own body of bliss. 41. While being caressed, sweet princess, enter the caressing as everlasting life. 42. Stop the doors of the senses when feeling the creeping of an ant. Then. 43. At the start of sexual union keep attentive on the fire in the beginning, and so continuing, avoid the embers in the end. 44. When in such embrace your senses are shaken, enter this shaking. 45. Even remembering union, without the embrace, the transformation. 46. On joyously seeing a long absent friend, permeate this joy. 47. When eating or drinking, become the taste of food or drink, and be filled. 48. Oh lotus-eyed one, sweet of touch, when singing, seeing, tasting, be aware you are and discover the ever-living. 49. Wherever satisfaction is found, in whatever act, actualize this. 50. At the point of sleep, when the sleep has not yet come and the external wakefulness vanishes, at this point is revealed. 51. In summer when you see the entire sky endlessly clear enter such clarity. 52. Lie down as dead. Enraged in wrath, stay so. Or stare without moving an eyelash. Or suck something and become the sucking. 53. Without support for feet or hands, sit only on the buttocks. Suddenly, the centering. 54. In an easy position gradually pervade an area between the armpits into great peace. 55. See as if for the first time a beauteous person or an ordinary object. 56. With mouth slightly open, keep mind in the middle of the tongue. Or, as breath comes silently in, feel the sound HH. 57. When on a bed or a seat, let yourself become weightless, beyond mind. 58. In a moving vehicle, by rhythmically swaying, experience. Or in a still vehicle, by letting yourself swing in slowing invisible circles. 59. Simply by looking into the blue sky beyond clouds, the serenity. 60. Shakti, see all space as if already absorbed in your own head in the brilliance. 61. Waking, sleeping, dreaming, knowing you as light. 62. In rain during a black night enter that blackness as the form of forms. 63. When a moonless raining night is not present, close eyes and find blackness before you. Opening eyes see blackness. So faults disappear forever. 64. Just as you have the impulse to do something, stop. 65. Center on the sound a-u-m without any a or m. 66. Silently intone a word ending in AH. Then in the HH, effortlessly, the spontaneity. 67. Feel yourself as pervading all directions, far, near. 68. Pierce some part of your nectar-filled form with a pin, and gently enter the piercing. 69. Feel: my thought, I-ness, internal organs – me. 70. Illusions deceive, colors circumscribe, even divisible are indivisible. 71. When some desire comes, consider it. Then suddenly, quit it. 72. Before desire and before knowing, how can I say I am? Consider. Dissolve in the beauty. 73. With your entire consciousness in the very start of desire, of knowing, know. 74. O Shakti, each particular perception is limited, disappearing in omnipotence. 75. In truth forms are inseparate. Inseparate are omnipresent being and your own form. Realize each as made of this consciousness. 76. In moods of extreme desire, be undisturbed. 77. This so-called universe appears as a juggling, a picture show. To be happy, look upon it so. 78. Oh beloved, put attention neither on pleasure nor on pain, but between these. 79. Toss attachment for body aside, realizing I am everywhere. One who is everywhere is joyous. 80. Objects and desires exist in me as in others. So accepting, let them be transformed. 81. The appreciation of objects and subjects is the same for an enlightened as for an unenlightened person. The former has one greatness: he remains in the subjective mood, not lost in things. 82. Feel the consciousness of each person as your own consciousness. So, leaving aside concern for self, become each being. 83. Thinking no thing, will limited-self unlimit. 84. Believe omniscient, omnipotent, pervading. 85. As waves come with water and flames with fire, so the universal waves with us. 86. Roam about until exhausted and then, dropping to the ground, in this dropping be whole. 87. Suppose you are gradually being deprived of strength or of knowledge. At the instant of deprivation, transcend. 88. Listen while the ultimate mystical teaching is imparted. Eyes still, without blinking, at once become absolutely free. 89. Stopping ears by pressing and the rectum by contracting, enter the sound of sound. 90. At the edge of a deep well look steadily into its depths until – the wondrousness. 91. Wherever your mind is wandering, internally or externally, at this very place, this. 92. When vividly aware through some particular sense, keep in the awareness. 93. At the start of sneezing, during fright, in anxiety, above a chasm, flying in battle, in extreme curiosity, at the beginning of hunger, at the end of hunger, be uninterruptedly aware. 94. Let attention be at a place where you are seeing some past happening, and even your form, having lost its present characteristics, is transformed. 95. Look upon some object, then slowly withdraw your sight from it, then slowly withdraw you thought from it. Then. 96. Devotion frees. 97. Feel an object before you. Feel the absence of all other objects but this one. Then leaving aside the object-feeling and the absence-feeling, realize. 98. The purity of other teachings is an impurity to us. In reality, know nothing as pure or impure. 99. This consciousness exists as each being, and nothing else exists. 100. Be the unsame same to friend as to stranger, in honor and dishonor. 101. When a mood against someone or for someone arises, do not place it on the person in question, but remain centered. 102. Suppose you contemplate something beyond perception, beyond grasping, beyond not being. – you. 103. Enter space, supportless, eternal, still. 104. Wherever your attention alights, at this very point, experience. 105. Enter the sound of your name and, through this sound, all sounds. 106. I am existing. This is mine. This is this. Oh beloved, even in such know illimitably. 107. This consciousness is the spirit of guidance of each one. Be this one. 108. Here is the sphere of change, change, change, change. Through change consume change. 109. As a hen mothers her chicks, mother particular knowings, particular doings, in reality. 110. Since, in truth, bondage and freedom are relative, these words are only for those terrified with the universe. This universe is a reflection of minds. As you see many suns in water from one sun, so see bondage and liberation. 111. Each thing is perceived through knowing. The self shines in space through knowing. Perceive one being as knower and known. 112. Beloved, at this moment let, mind, knowing, breath, form, be included. http://o-meditation....ion-techniques/ No discussion on meditation is complete without mentioning the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra This 5000 year old ancient Indian text on meditation is considered by many as the last word on meditation. Vigyan ~~ Science ( in Hindi ) Bhairav ~~ An ancient mythological God of Hindu religion. Tantra ~~ ( A mystical spiritual path. Read more) Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is an ancient text on meditation. It contains 112 techniques of Meditation. Basically in the form of a dialogue between lord Shiva and his wife Parvati (refer to as Devi in the book), this books discusses 112 meditation techniques which can be used for realizing our true self. The book starts with a question from Devi regarding the nature of reality. She asked Shiva about Universe, about fundamental nature of this world, how one can go beyond space and time to understand this truth. The remaining book is all about Shiva’s answers to Devi’s queries. He does not tell her what is. He tells her a method…then another method.. then another …he goes on. He tells her how. He tells her how one can realize this reality…through 112 methods of centering in the self. The methods are in their seed form. The entire book can be written in one long piece of paper. However, these methods in their seedy form point towards various powerful meditation techniques. On contemplating upon these techniques, one can find one of the most impressive and powerful collections of meditation techniques which are simple yet very effective. It is said that 112 techniques of meditation of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra are all inclusive. It is said that there is no meditation techniques which has not been covered in Vigyan Bhairav Tantra. These Meditation techniques are for people of all age and all times. These meditation techniques were for those who had lived in the pasts, for those who are living in the present and for all those who’ll born in future. This meditation techniques are for all humanity of all time. Past, present, future. It is said that it is impossible for anybody not to find a technique (out of 112 techniques) suitable to his own level of spiritual development and inner temperament. http://www.meditatio...irav_tantra.htm

Last night I decided to practice spontaneous movement in my mind - imagining myself moving as per feeling It was fun... I remember a person asking here once for a method of practice suitable for a small boat they spent most of their time on... Can one just imagine practicing such things? I'd be interested in an experienced Qigong/ Tai chi practitioner not doing the practice physically but entirely within ones mind and sharing their feeling of it? Double Happiness to all who read this!!

hahaha ^^ also what i find funny is that the condemnation of killing animals is considered insane and in need of "professional help" While others gloat ( Verb:Contemplate or dwell on one's own success or another's misfortune with malignant pleasure ) of their consumption of said killed animals.... With a sense of pride to boot.... strange, very strange. oh you are anti human...? oh verbal abuse... boo hoo you are insane! you need help! BAN HIM BAN HIM! GET RID OF HIM! ahaha....hmmm strange, very strange. I need some tea.... -

ah yes I knew the... everything is a concept thing would come up... I assume you understand what I am saying however... I don't assume you to be buddhist based on other posts... I don't expect you to defend it etc either... I did spend some time studying buddhism in my youth - even at one stage perhaps evening calling myself such. I spent time volunteering at a buddhist monastry (tibetan) for a month also and had even considered becoming a monk. Considering Zen monasticism. I soon woke from this silly dream + silly stories and moved on. My purpose here is to provide a counter agrument as Buddhism has been made out to be the perfect untouchable path to "enlightenment" / freedom (whatever that is). I found it to be quite the opposite anyhow. I was late teens then I am around 23 now. This is just another perspective for others... I say be cautious. Now I understand that I havnt provide too much in way of reasons why on this particulur thread... though I suppose i have more or less in a number of different threads... As I said briefly before...granted there are some interesting/ thought provoking aspects to this philosophy I wouldnt rush out and start bowing to plastic golden statues however. Buddhism is just as "satanic" as christianity + all the religions of Abraham... Everything has been so polluted / distorted / manipulated etc that these things now are completely worthless... one drop of poison will ruin the entire well. My religion is no religion my religion is experiential truth my religon is to empower people /// work in progress... ^^ haha Peace! -

Techniques over concepts when it comes to the great ? Buddhism has too many concepts though it says no concepts... On what authority does Buddhism have to say that life is suffering? (the entire foundation of Buddhism is based on this) None. Why not tell that happy little bird singing its wonderful songs outside your window that life is suffering? You have adopted the beliefs of a pessimist. In the west it is called philosophical pessimism... we do not worship or deify philosophers. -

True that ^^ * * * * * I don't believe these groups have humanities best interests at heart... / any beings $$$ I read scientific - peace be upon science the greatest profit that counter for one example everything you have ever been taught about diary + calcium etc and it effects on the human body.... most of the 'research' having been funding by the dairy industry itself... Similar to the days when smoking was good for your health? 'research' / propaganda funded by cigarette companies. -

Also just to clarify - I am saying vegetarianism as an idea is morally superior I am not saying that I am morally superior. There are numerous thing I myself must strive harder for I admire those with the consciousness / will etc to pursue such things - they are an inspiration / guide When an athlete trains their body, will and consciousness etc to optimum I do not undermine their efforts to be better... I look to them as a inspiration Or when a person tries to excel in anything of good... these are all admirable things. Why do we condemn those who aspire so? -

If people want to bring the Bible into it... Vegetarian Diet in the Bible Proverbs 12:10 teaches, “A righteous man has regard for the life of his beast,” and Psalm 145:9 reminds us that “The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.” The Bible depicts vegetarianism as God’s ideal, and the diet conforms to the central biblical principle of steward-ship. In Eden, all creatures lived peacefully, and God told both humans and animals to consume only plant foods (Gen. 1:29–31). Several prophecies, such as Isaiah 11:6–9, foresee a return to this vegetarian world, where the wolf, lamb, lion, cow, bear, snake, and little child all coexist peacefully. Christian vegetarians, while acknowledging human sinfulness, believe we should strive toward the harmonious world Isaiah envisioned—to try to live in accordance with the prayer that Jesus taught us, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven” Genesis 1.29: God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. Genesis 9.4: But flesh with its life, its blood, you shall not eat. Leviticus 3.17: It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood. Leviticus 17.10: And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. Leviticus 17.12: Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. Leviticus 17.14: For as to the life of all flesh, its blood is with its life: therefore I said to the children of Israel, "You shall not eat the blood of any kind of flesh; for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off." 1 Samuel 14.32-33: And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood. Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed : roll a great stone unto me this day. Acts 15.20: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. Acts 15.29: That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. Isaiah 1.5: Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of the goats. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood. Isaiah 66.3: He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man. Isaiah 65: The lion shall lie down with the lamb.. they shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord. The  apostle Paul wrote that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), and it follows that we should care for our bodies as gifts from God. The Bible describes God’s concern for animals repeatedly (Matt. 10:29, 12:11–12, 18:12–14) and forbids cruelty (Deut. 22:10, 25:4). Importantly, after the Flood, God made a covenant, stated five times, with animals as well as humans. All creatures share in the Sabbath rest (Exod. 20:10; Deut. 5:14). The Bible describes animals praising God (Pss. 148:7–10, 150:6), shows animals present in eternity (Isa. 65:25; Rev. 5:13), and affirms that God preserves animals (Ps. 36:6; Eph. 1:10; Col. 1:20). Animals and humans look to God for sustenance (Pss. 104:27–31, 147:9; Matt. 6:26; Luke 12:6) and deliverance (Jon. 3:7–9; Rom. 8:18–23). God’s covenant in Genesis 9, in all five instances, is with all flesh, not just humans. -

Of course vegetarianism is morally superior what else would it be? ^ I mean this in the best possible sense also. Just as say a person drops a few books... people walk past and ignore them and another person stops to help. The person who stops to help is morally superior in every sense. @ Viator... using a dictionary to define what is right and wrong for you? -

I invite anyone who believes their teeth are designed for hunting and eating meat to go chase down a wild buffalo and bring it down... teeth and hands alone. Verbal abuse doesn't come close to inflicting torturous conditions + murder. Empathy is what it is to be Human(e) // especially in regard to animals. How pathetic for man to kill a lamb.... -

Well the child doesn't have much of a choice really? Adults who do eat meat ... are murders yes. Something like 150 billion animals are killed every year for selfish human wants. I doubt anyone he would be so selfish though... everyone here practices compassion etc as that is the spiritual path - the path to freedom. -
