Les Britanniques ne sont pas habituellement tout bons à apprendre des langues étrangères. Quand en vacances à l'étranger, ils juste parlent anglais lentement. Lol = = = = = = = = = No idea how good the above translation is, as I'm currently waiting for somebody to find a real "Babel Fish" (see HHGTTG) or a Universal Translator (see Star Trek). Bon Chance !!

Hi Kunlun, your English is a heck of a lot better than my French. Welcome Basher

Welcome to the forum, John. Plenty on here of interest (IMHO). Greece and the people living there seem to be going through a really tough time at the moment. Hopefully with the E.U. Bailout things will start improving a little. Basher

Hello Oana, are you still living in Romania ? and if so, are there many Qi Gong Instructors / Classes there ? As it's always better to attend a class if you can. The beauty of this Forum (in my opinion) is that great information can be shared by everybody from all over the World. Basher

Hello Jan, do you find that your T'ai Chi practise aids your Ballroom Dancing and / or vice versa ? Basher

Even though I've been practising Tai Chi for over a year*, I'm still finding it difficult to cope with even the basics. I'm studying the medium frame Li / Lee Style. Variously also known as Yin Yang or Square Yard Tai Chi. I try to remain relaxed & keep my hands in the "Chi Palm" (gently cupped) shape. I try to obey the 70% rule and not take my hands across my centreline. I also try to keep my breathing as natural as possible....until I improve and can start feeling energies etc. But although my (version of the) Form isn't perfect, I think it's my Stances & Steps that need the most attention. I find it extremely difficult to "open" my hips, for the different steps. Presume this is applicable to all Tai Chi styles. So does anyone out there have any hints or tips that could aid my practise ? Many Thanks in advance, for any (helpful) responses. Basher * Yes I know that a Year isn't very long !!!

The biggest threat to your freedom of speech that you probably never heard of!

Just had a Great Idea for a new TV show hosted by two short northern types... " I'm A Politician, Get Me Out Of Here !". Every potential Politician has to go into the Jungle Bootcamp, w e can watch them all of the time 24/7 and judge who (if anyone) would make a good Politician. LOL = = = = = = = = = = = = I'm beginning to agree with Jeremy Clarkson's opinion, that anybody who actually wants to become a Politician is automatically banned from ever doing the job !!! -

Government in the UK has talked about authorising an increase in your Poll Tax (currently based on the market value of your dwelling), if your Home has a nice view !!! Or if you've improved your home with an extension or a swimming pool, etc. We're taxed on our Salaries, our purchases, the fuel in our cars, our savings, etc etc. Even after death they tax our estates, so that they can grab money from our next of kin !!! Next move will be to tax us all on breathing !!! Privacy wise, there are cctv cameras everywhere monitoring every vehicles movements as well as most pedestrians. They tap / mionitor all of our phone calls (Mobiles & Land Lines) and e mails then claim they do all this to protect our FREEDOM !!! Is that Bovine excrament I smell ???? -
If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that Chris Crudelli in his TV series "Mind, Body & Kick Ass Moves" interviewed a Japanese (I think) Karate Master. Who had the ability to put off opponants from attacking him, over a distance of several feet. Chris was a bit skeptical so tried it for himself. Whenever he started to move in for an attack, he felt blocked and overwhelmed. Not sure how or why it worked. I'll need to dig out my dvd & take another look. About 25 years ago I witnessed a demonstration by a Tai Chi / Kung Fu Grandmaster. In which he made the entire class of 40 students & Instructors sway and eventually lose their balance. I myself felt "pushed" over from a distance of several yards. But as I was a student / willing victim, I was still skeptical / unsure if this would work out on the street. Also Derren Brown once did a very similar thing in a martial arts class and claimed it was just a phsycological trick. Basher

Ooops, I forgot THAT one !!! LOL. Cheers All for the responses. The Old Taoist Grandmaster of the Lee/Li style passed away in 1994. But he always used to say there were a thousand "secrets" to the Internal Art(s). He'd start you off by giving guidance and by pointing the way, but most you had to experience for yourself by constant practice. "The Reflection in a Pool of Water, never reveals the waters depth." Guess I've just started getting my feet wet !!

My current teacher is Tony Swanson & whilst I always try to follow his or one of his his senior Instructors corrections as much as possible. I'm still feeling kinda awkward / slilted in my movements. Was just wondering if any Bums had the same difficulty in moving correctly between each stance, when they were beginners, and how they overcame their weakness. Thanks Cheers Mr.T.

As I wrote, I'm no expert but perhaps take a look at: Taoist Sexual Meditation: The Way of Love, Energy & Spirit" by Bruce Kumar Frantzis. A highly respected Teacher of the Internal Arts (Tai Chi, Ba Gua, Xing Yi, etc). Basher

Hi Coglet & welcome. Unusual, but interesting opening "post". I think it would be quite difficult to live the life of a Taoist hermit, whilst living in a normal family situation. I believe Love making to be the ultimate expression of our love, trust & respect for one another. It's about being close / intimate with another kindred soul and about giving, rather than just receiving pleasure (IMHO). A spiritual, as well as physical union. Sex can be part of that, but it can also describe the physical act, whether that be mutual lust or in extreme cases, Rape. Believe there are Tao Bums that believe in total abstinance, sex wise. But from my (very limited) understanding I think it's more about learning to retain your semen (energy or "essense"). I'm not one of his biggest fans, but some of Mantak Chia's "Healing Tao" books do go into great detail about various ways of doing this. From both a Male & a Female perspective. Enjoy your journey Basher

Not heard of your Teacher before, so did a quick search (via G**gle) and found his website. Looks interesting..... Could / would you care to share some of your Art with us ? Absolutely No obligation to do so, I'm just curious to know if you combine your talents in any way. For instance, do you Paint / Draw Energies or Feelings etc ? Basher
