  2. Howdy

    Nuff said.
  3. Hello all from Stately Manor!

You are once, twice, thrice welcome here M'Lud. I believe that it's a Taoist trait to be both Jolly/Laughing & Cavalier ! LOL
  4. Hello folks

Exactly, Sinfest ! Oops, I've said too much !
  5. aloha my fellow bums!

Welcome Nelida, it'll take you quite some time to read everything on here !!! Basher

The Google that can be named, is not the real Google !!! Welcome
  7. Tao particle

If the Tao is Omni anything it's also (surely) Ubiquitous !!! It's just easier to say / spell Tao (IMHO). LOL Also, if Tao includes but isn't confined to just "Nature", (ie includes non living things) does that actually mean that it's totally limitless ? Or are we perhaps just too dumb to figure out exactly what is or isn't part of the Tao. Scientists currently believe that all matter is made up of Atoms, Molecules, Quarks, etc etc. Yet even the densest, hardest objects known to man are apparently 99+ % "nothing". (i.e. the gap / space between atoms, molecules, etc). So does the Tao = the Void ? Please help me to understand..... Basher (New Student of Tao Particle Class 101)
  8. Feng Bo (Earl of the Wind) aka Fei-Lian

A Chinese (non Tao Bum) friend of mine sent me this.... close but no Cigar. http://a2.att.hudong.com/36/74/300001340445131321747715814_950.jpg I'm really after a nice Painting / Statue etc of the Male God. But thanks for the thought, Celine. Basher
  9. Feng Bo (Earl of the Wind) aka Fei-Lian

Many thanks for all your efforts Virtue, much appreciated. I'll attempt to search for more, using the information that you've provided. But am obviously still interested in anybody else's photos / information etc.. Basher

Hi Road Runner, is there a story behind that user name ? If so, does it involve a Coyote, a huge Weight, or anything made by Acme ? Basher
  11. I do not wish to be here

Is he perhaps a Taoist Immortal, sent back to the mortal realm to tell off naughty Taoist Bums that are doing everything wrong ? (sorry I'm reading "7 Taoist Masters" at the moment & got carried away. LOL) Christian has free will & has made his decision....we can choose to disagree with him & /or his parting statement. We can also choose to ignore it/him, wish him well & continue on our own journeys..
  12. Trying to find out who these gods are...

Whenever you get fed up of throwing opinions at each other, I suppose you could start throwing the "Gods" !!! "On a different note if anyone happens to know about Feng Shui is it bad to have Guan Yu standing right above my head while I sleep?" Answer = Only if he needs the bathroom. ==================================== Has anybody ever seen a statue of "Feng Bo", The Earl of the Wind (holds an open ended sack) ? As I'm extremely interested in tracking one down. Think he's been usurped by the goddess "Feng Po Po". Basher

  15. Wu Wei: Real or Myth?

Stosh & Boy Thanks to Both.
  16. Wu Wei: Real or Myth?

Boy, thanks for that "Fingers Pointing Towards The Moon" (Wei Wu Wei/Terence Gray) moment !! I'm often guilty of overlooking the Blinkin Obvious !!! LOL I know that I'm a relative Novice, in a room full of Academics & Sages but it seems to me that this thread has become "a lot of Fuss about Nothing". The above was actually my attempt at Taoist Humour !!! (Void/Nothingness/TAO) Obviously, judging by the Tumbleweeds blowing past, my meaning got completely lost in Translation !! LOL Would amend my quote to read, ... room full of some Academics, some Sages & some Onions !!! Lots of people on here with VERY STRONG opinions... I'm right, you're an Idiot, kinda thing. I'm reminded of the Sign hanging above the Entrance to several Buddhist Temples in Burma/Thailand and the Potola in Lhasa, Tibet (if Tuesday Lobsang Rampa Books can actually be believed). "A Thousand Monks, a thousand Religions". Lots of us may be searching for spiritual advancement/enlightenment, but is there really only one way to get there ? Basher (The Novice) PS: WWROA thanks for the PM.
  17. Wu Wei: Real or Myth?

I know that I'm a relative Novice, in a room full of Academics & Sages but it seems to me that this thread has become "a lot of Fuss about Nothing". Unless the actual Author has discussed it fully and comprehensively with you in THEIR own native language (Which must be the same as yours, to get all of the nuances). How can anybody possibly state for certain, what was originally meant or intended ? The Author (s) lived in a bygone age, with a different life and perspective from 99% of us. Even our perceptions tend to change over the course of our own lifetime(s) due to any number of different experiences, both 1st & 3rd hand. Each of us must travel our own path & come to our own conclusions.... (All of the above = IMO obviously) Basher
  18. A perfect wuwei act

Sorry Stosh, I was just in one of those "devil may care" moods today !!! LOL. Could the Water analogy simply mean "be pliable & adaptable in all circumstances. When you arrive at some sort of obstacle, simply go around it." ? Basher
  19. A perfect wuwei act

Darn, I've been doing it wrong all these years... hugging the dogs and walking the wife ! LOL Basher
  20. A perfect wuwei act

Here in the UK we've been beaten over the head with various "Health & Safety" Regulations & our formerly respected Police, Fire & Ambulance service have all had their hands tied up with Red Tape. So much so that recently Policemen weren't allowed to try & rescue a man found floating face down in a pond that was only about 2 foot deep. As they didn't have the correct "diving" equipment and hadn't gone on a course teaching them how to safely drag somebody out of the water !!! Eye witnesses said that the chap had just gone to the waters edge & fainted a couple of minutes earlier. But the senior Police officer there threatened to report any junior Officer that entered the water to effect a rescue !!! He then made sure that his Officers were kept busy stopping members of the public trying to wade into the Pond to drag the guy out !!! Eventually some Paramedics arrived, the guy was pulled out and guess what ? He'd drowned !!!! Moral of the Story : If you ever see one of these Health & Safety types drowning... leave them there and let nature take its course. It'll make the World a better & safer place !!! Perfect Wu Wei. Interesting, but won't the Earth's Magnetic Field, act as a shield protecting the Planet & all life / matter on / in it ? Basher (the non Scientist)

  23. Hey

  24. Running away from the News outlets

Here in the UK, a great number of us are sick n tired of hearing / reading about who a particular Sportsman or minor (z list) celebrity has slept with this week !!! Which Banker or Politician has been caught fiddling their expenses or cooking the books !!! How is any of that more Newsworthy than say a natural disaster, war, famine, where thousands are dying ? News / Newspapers should report on NEWS, (ie factual reporting about things of importance) not gossip/fashion/fad diets/etc etc... But believe somebody once published a Newspaper which only reported "Good News". Stories where disasters were averted by acts of heroism, animals were rescued unharmed from various unlikely locations, spiritually uplifting tales, optimistic views of world events, etc. Sounds great, but the trouble is....nobody bought it ! Appears that the majority of us "like" to know everybody else's secrets !!! Sad, but true. Basher
