As a schoolboy I started reading the Books by Tuesday Lobsang Rampa, purportedly telling his life story and his journey from a monastic life in Tibet, to his time in the West. Years later, I was disillusioned / upset that most "experts" called him a complete fraud and a fake. But having re-read them all (several times), I would urge all those with even a mild interest in Tibet, Paranormal / Psychic Abilities or the Occult to give them a go. His descriptions of Tibet (spoiler alert) prior to the Chinese Invasion are simply incredible & highly entertaining. I'd suggest that you start at the beginning and read "The Third Eye" & if you like that try No. 2 "The Doctor From Lhasa" & "The Rampa Story". If you're not hooked by No.3, I wouldn't bother with the rest. As I believe they are the best of the bunch. PS: Ignore "My Visit To Venus" as it's a rip-off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobsang_Rampa

Welcome Jade, as Soaring Crane asked, : "Perhaps you'd be so kind as to explain to us what MC, MW, DS and DV stand for? Thanks!" I'd also be interested to know! Hopefully you'll not suffer from excessive "Bashing" here...though there are several lively debates !!! Basher

https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Battle_of_Waterloo Today is Thursday the 18th June 2015 and here in the UK it's a bright, sunny & warm day. Exactly 200 years ago, there was an enormous battle near the small village of Waterloo, in Belgium. The day started out dull, overcast & it rained hard, making the ground wet & slippery. A hotch-potch Army led by the Duke of Wellington of (mostly) Anglo, Irish & Dutch Regiments, together with some Brunswickers were the only thing in the way of the Emporer Napoleon reaching Brussels. By the end of the day, and with the help of our Allies the Prussians, led by Field Marshal Blucher, the French forces were in total disarray & Napoleion had to flee for his life. He was captured a few days later & sentenced to Exile (again) on St. Helena. A small island in the Atlantic, where he died a few years later. Now how, do you ask, is such a pivotal battle in European history being commemorated in the UK ? by....absolutely nothing whatsoever, it appears. In Belgium, on the site of the battlefield there's a huge ceremony going on. Belgium have also struck a coin, to mark the event. The French are pretending they won (how's that for a PR spin!!!) Perhaps those in charge here don't wish to upset the French, as we're all now part of the EU. (Edit: To add link)

Hi Cobi, yes interesting thought indeed.....perhaps no WW1 or WW2, but would the rest of Europe / the World have stood back & let France rule everywhere ? I think not ! How many lives would it have cost ? Who can say. Lest we forget, during the French Revolution, Napoleon was also the one who opened fire on unarmed men, women & children with Grapeshot (ie Nails, shot & other bits of metal fired from a Canon). Napoleon was a tactical genius, of that there is no doubt. He rewarded Loyalty and tried to bring some se,blance of order out of the previous chaos. He aspired to be like one of the ancient figures from history, like a Ceasar or Alexander the Great. He brought pride & some magnificent architecture to France, but at quite a cost. He did however, make some huge errors of judgement.....attacking Russia in 1812 for instance. Hitler repeated that mistake in WW2.

Hi EbbTide, forgive me for stating the obvious, but try using the search box (top right). Hopefully you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Nice Tree btw.

Phew ! It's after reading of experiences like yours Juno, that I realise how lucky I've been in Life (so far, anyways). As I look a little "thuggish", most people try to avoid confronting / challenging me. They're not to know that I secretly help out little old ladies, by getting stuff down from the top shelf of the supermarket. (That's just between us, by the way). A short, unassuming half-Chinese Grandmaster of Kung Fu I used to know, somehow always managed to avoid trouble. If it ever erupted, he'd left 15 minutes before. As he could sense the change beginning to happen. Stay Safe and may your Angels always watch over you.

Maybe the "Angels" got her !!

YOU LOOKED !!!! So you think the Rules don't apply to you, eh ? Just, to everyone else ? You Naughty "Bum" :D This is an Experiment, to see how many people view this thread, even when asked not to.

When Building the Panama Canal, thousands of workers died from Malaria. Malaria still accounts for thousands of deaths each year, I believe. Scientists have been "fiddling" with nature & have managed to create Mosquitos that cannot produce any off-spring. They've "released" these genetically modified insects into areas with large Mosquito populations. In the hope that after the mating season, the number of "natural offspring" (i.e. Malaria carrying) Mosquitos, will be greatly reduced. Now the intent is (obviously) to save Human Lives and/or suffering from this disease. No Mosquitos are actually killed, unless you count the potential newborns, that never arrive as a result of this genetic modification. But it's definitely going against Nature. So does this point to an Abuse of Power ?

Should have a forum section for herbs, supplements, etc.

Re the above...perhaps we need a "Ditto" button added !!! Nice one Dawei. :D -
Forget the quote (presume it's from the Tao Te Ching). Something about a Leader should do so with a light touch & should be almost invisible in their dealings.

I like that idea Songtsan, I've read a number of posts on here which mention them. Would make sense to have them in one area. -
I (more or less) agree with Jeremy Clarkson (ex Top Gear Presenter) on Politicians... Anybody that actually wishes to run for Public Office should be automatically disqualied from doing so, for life. We need politicians who put their constituants first & themselves last !! Who'd ensure that everyones lives were improved, rather than lining their own pockets by fiddling their expenses (by taking money funded by the public). Grrrr

A lot of them are even from the same (small) group of Schools The "First Past The Post" System isn't perfect, far from it. Because all of the "Losers" get far fewer seats & it's therefore a lot more difficult to stop the Party in Power from just doing whatever they want. There are NO SEATS at all, for all those people who didn't actually vote in the first place. But how on earth would the "Proportional Representation" idea work in practice ? As you can obviously have 1 x MP for every 300,000 votes, or whatever number. But MP's are also meant to represent their constituances. So do we scrap that part & just have local Government Elections ? Don't know the answer, but I remember seeing a photo of a Billboard on FB. On which was a picture of Kermit & the text was "Vote Muppet. You're going to get one anyway !"

I was a "Lobby Steward" a couple of years back, dropped off here / the Net for a while to concentrate on other things... like Family / Work / Training . I just pop in occasionally, to see if I've missed anything 1) Profound or 2) Interesting. For future Reference and to completely clarify things once & for all.....The Mods are the ones who AREN'T "Rockers" Edit: To correct 1 & 2

I'm not even sure that Deci would be interested in coming back to the fold. Although I used to enjoy our PM's, I did wonder how many different personalities she had/has. Presume that DB was banned for a legitimate reason, so cannot really go against the Mods decision, as don't know the full facts. Besides, as someone pointed out previously, if I want to know her thought thesedays, I can simply look at her Blog.

A friend of mine recently died from a form of Cancer. He was a Daoist Tai Chi & Kung Fu Instructor who had trained for 20+ years & who practised every day & tried to eat healthily. Was his art therefore deficient in some basic energy practises ? If so, what more could / should he have done ? Or as rainbowvein notes above, did he just not recognise his own "Yin-ness" until it was too late ?
