  1. Rules for winning an internet argument

Because the discussion begins to turn into a battle , and the personal buttons hurt humiliate and distract. Few people can keep their cool past a few volleys ,most know this, admit it ,acccept it and yet know its wrong. Therein lies the joke.Im sure you know the simpler deeper reason as well, that folks attack to preserve themselves either because they feel theatened rightly, or that they are so dug in to fallacy, theyll never admit one iota of it as untrue.

  5. The origin of mankind

Reasonable.. but praise, which can be done for various reasons, and- caring about the welfare of someone else not for personal gain.. is another. Are you saying that its the norm to have warm care for people based on their production value? Lets take for example Mr Trump or Hillary Clinton, neither is very likeable IMO , but the are seen as doers , and they get supported on that basis ,, but I dont think I would be saddened about a difficulty they had any more than they would give a hoot about me. So if a ship was going down , I wouldnt be the first to Call out, Politicians and children first ! SO as a norm, do people really CARE for these people, It can go either way , I know Presidents like Lincoln and Kennedy certainly were grieved ,but in normal life .. acquaintances .. dunno. + I was reading a thing about morality last night , and that which was promoted as the highest good was to serve both self and society , to be nice and kind and promote these as ideals . That this kind of merit benefited the person who acted like that ,, BUT it seems that this is sort of misleading if the public doesnt really care in return for persons with these values,, the values being professed as best for the individuals welfare probably isnt.,,, nice guys finishing last etc. This does , by the way ,eventually feed back to the origins thing.
  6. The origin of mankind

I was thinking along the lines of acumen in general rather than business. Speaking only for myself , I thought in general someone is more concerned with whether they thought someone was good , rather than clever. as in 'Screw that guy!' but not this guy . .. frankly I don't know the actual public view on this.
  7. The origin of mankind

I'm thinking other people care more about the fate of someone that exhibits kindness , than acumen. Is this true?
  8. The origin of mankind

Maybe true, but what is 'properly' in this context? From the point of view of an outsider, well they may not be as impressed with the mathematical reasoning someone else can do. Im thinking the word fool , can indicate different things about people , not just errors they might make but things which they don't ummm partake of.
  9. The origin of mankind

Lets say someone gets all that payload safely off earth, and hurls it into the sun, and it causes some sort of solar burp, a flare ,ionized jet ,,to come right back at us.

  15. The origin of mankind

Hmmm, It may be that on the scale of universes dark energy is a thing of its own, and that life or sentience may only exist on our own scale.
  16. The origin of mankind

Exactly! On the grand scale , gravity rules the galaxy and atomic forces are almost inconsequential, but on the molecular scale ,gravity isn't really important,, because the relatively weak effects of gravity perpetuate across distance and functions collectively , which is not so for .. the 'strong force' holding quarks together . Its not that any of it is false or unreal, its just an effect of scale. The conceptual words we use , fit the scale at which we live.
  17. The origin of mankind

What are 'them' (they) if they neither solid nor have defined location? There's nothing 'indicate-able' to have 'properties' either! ... but on the scale of your home- and what we are familiar with -something constitutes your roof. An atom by any other name still smells as sweet. The problematic issue is not that there is nothing , its that expectations based on words for things as we already consider them , dont hold up on that scale. I can make up a word for the condition which atoms are Situ,(as in, Atoms are made of situ. ) but if no one adopts- accepts it .. theres just no word or comparison -for it.
