  1. "Time is the speed of light."

Speed of dark being much faster? hmm dunno, if light travels at the speed its supposed to, a laser shone from the moon, from its point of view ,reaches its target as soon as its emmitted,,,,,,,, taking zero time, and travelling in a straight line through curved space. Right? But from its targets point of view, it has one and a third seconds to move out of the way. The light would have to hit its target instantly and miss it entirely.
  2. "Time is the speed of light."

Aha! Now I know why, the faster I drive, the sooner I get to work.
  3. Zeng's three daily checks

You already got one. See Post #9
  4. A strange form of suicidality

I know generally this kind of question is really aimed at folks who would identify with the op. But frankly I don't think wanting to die was ever an idea I entertained , nor do I think it would have ever occurred to me to consider that as an option to embrace. If I said I related to the idea, that would support an excuse for someone else. Rather I would offer that its a stupid idea that probably wouldn't have occurred to you, either,, if some genius hadn't introduced it into circulation , like the existence of guys up in the sky , unicorns , quantum physics , and so forth.
  5. Winston probably wasnt doing himself any favor writing all that. A person has to actually choose that they want the embers to die down , so Id add another tip I didnt see, fury is animating and on some level, we either like it ,or feel its correct. The point of abandoning knowlege, is that one gets off the habit of figuring whether ones upset is correct, deserved or justified. With that obstacle abated, one is left judging whether the inflammation is desirable. If one just plain gets a kick out of the fuss , then they likely arent going to tone down for long. Railing over things may just be temporarily blowing off steam, but if it works, it works..... for a while at least. Winston probably enjoyed assembling his article but it doesnt represent a solution that its designed to inspire, because one doesnt really need to understand, one needs to choose..... Imo.
  6. Zeng's three daily checks

    You win that round
  7. Zeng's three daily checks

Ah! I was assuming the master to be Zeng zi's , but yeah He could be directing someone else regarding their master. Quite right. Though it would be slightly presumptuous, if the masters don't all teach the same curriculum , How could Zeng properly advise a person to obey -that which Zeng ,or his master - considers bogus?
  8. How does a sage support himself/herself

It doesn't sound "natural" at all to me not to voluntarily wish to participate at some job, some cooperative effort. Nor does it appear to me that being a hermit or beggar has anything to do with "blending in" .The sage may take his job lightly , and without high aspiration , but that doesn't mean he or she would be in attentive or irresponsible.
  9. Zeng's three daily checks

Who you ask what ? ( and it is fine for you to be a a fan of those things IMO but why does the OP suggest that its not taught by the master ? )
  10. Zeng's three daily checks

Curious,, , the master doesn't teach loyalty or honesty.
  11. Watching The Birds

Yep , but I do find it odd that the cues somehow suggest proper orientation for vertical , whereas flipping side to side can change the appearance of an image.
  12. Watching The Birds

    confused now,
  13. The Father and Son of Taoist Philosophy

Possibly quite true , but in order to make this assertive instruction , one sets himself up for contention ,,, and therefore must also understand the pragmatic value of taking a stance- themselves. The thing then ,is whether the contention is actually over fame. Not whether one is taking a contentious stance. Its would be a false assumption to contend , all contention is done for evil reasons , it would implicate the author on those grounds as well. How then is Chuang tzu exempt from his own declaration?

  15. bum here

    Ok
  16. bum here

I have definitely been on a path of ego devastation as I lose more and more. It has been more painful than rewarding, it seems, and that confuses me. And kind of scares me. I wish I never woke up.
  17. What is the answer to the universe?

Did you forget to mention it was an american car?
  18. bum here

Just an opinion ,, but drive and will , stem from feeling an actual reward. Its not a thing one can effectively fake. If there is reward sufficient in letting go- you could. But in the unpleasantness of a panic , there's no sense of reward. Growing up to who we are at any given time,, we've learned some things which are detrimental to our well being. It can be hard to sort out which those things are vs that which is really in our own best interests. For ex: Is this dropping of the 'ego' truly the treat advertised? Maybe you just arent wired for "allowing", and secure what you want by actively pursuing. Then again ,, If you can accept what you really want, as actually being fact,,and allow those things to stand unthreatened,, you may find the self trust to allow the passing of old paradigms which really trouble you. ( if there is anything of that sort)
  19. What means Yin Yang?

    Its the symbol for irony.

  21. What is the answer to the universe?

Just out of curiosity , what was the common flaw , (or the flaws of more-than one form of BS which didnt ...supplement ) ?
  22. Art As A Spiritual Quest.

Whats on the leg of the angel type, by Euclid? and how is the wind blowing the hair of the one by Plotinus? And is it suggested that michelangeo is looking at his modified knee , actually considering how the philosophy compares to his reclining wife. ..(other knee)
