  1. The Dream of the Butterfly

Since the thread seems to have fallen asleep I guess its ok to tell my own dream from last night. Im walking up a street in Bklyn where I grew up, I get to an intersection about the width of a four lane road, to my right on either curb there was a row of 15 guys about three feet apart, each set up with a fishing rod cast out into the street which was filled with green shallow water about a foot deep. So I turned generally in that direction and asked what they were fishing for. Noone answered at first but an angry old dude turns round and says , they're fishing for Billyjacks, and only two of them had caught one , and they were both at the same level.

When are you ever walking and everything around you doesn't move relative to you? at the very least, the ground is being traversed.
  14. Irritations

The rules of virtue don't have to be flexible, sometimes there is no perfect choice. My rule is honesty, I do consider it overall to be a virtuous choice, but , my enemies do not make it something I can apply to them. My rule is a thing I need to prioritize, In the gangster thing, one would have to make a choice. Lie, or be silent , or betray. The behavior may still have flexibility, I don't need to dismiss the virtue of basically telling the truth. Who really expects all the answers to be perfect? that one should always benefit by following the rule? I think its unrealistic to expect that. The alternative is to have no rules, that integrity lies in ones native nature. ( I just think rules can help to elevate us from that 'base level' performance ,,carry us through dubious circumstance ,, guide when we are in a tricky situation,,, Tao suggests we dont need formulaic rules IMO)
  15. Irritations

Id like to change your mind about the stuff in this post.
  16. The Dao is Sacred?

True , but then ,, that's another example of not being able to tell. ( he asked how could he tell, not how it would be if he could not tell)
  17. The Dao is Sacred?

The objects around you would appear stationary.
  18. The Dao is Sacred?

Sacredness is an attribute people imbue to certain stuff. There is no sacred attribute otherwise. What color is sacred stuff? Is it extra big, more fluid , defies laws of physics? Obviously not. Just as things have no non attributed beauty. You can feel that everything is sacred , or that nothing is. And you can decide based on this attribute ,which you assign, rules of behavior , or not, if you want them. Thats why such stuff is called illusion. You may apprehend it, but its all in your head.
  19. Trust thyself ( and let god sort em out)
  20. There ain't nothing you can do about any of it, no one is benefited by your upset. No one , nada ,nobody , nohow ! I don't pay any attention whatsoever to the news anymore. Guess what ! its all still the same. I don't need to consult my moral compass , I don't have to take sides , have an opinion, express outrage etc etc. At this point in your life the only thing that can really change your mind is what information its fed. Seriously, you'd make a fine moral decision if it came to your doorstep , you are confident about that ,aren't you? So you don't need to explore, nor do you need vindication. IMO its a wiser move to worry if you want mayo or mustard on your sandwich.

  22. Irritations

Lessee,, , hmmmm,,,,,,, I'm irritated , ,, umm , I haven't mastered my emotions, I am not living in the present moment, I haven't experienced a transcending revelation which changed my attitudes... , I still have the illusions of egoic expectations.. No mark has been left upon my transient soul which indicates I am enlightened.
  23. Irritations

I get irritated, therefore I am not enlightened.
