  1. What the hell is the abyss anyways?

Sorry , I thought you started this thread to generate discussion , though you already are quite familiar with the subject.
  2. Sex

Psyche was the tripartite nature of the soul , Thumos ( thymos) was one of the steeds , and was essential for developing manliness, source of anger and drive - the other steed was appetite and the charioteer of the three aspects of psyche was reason ,, Psyche was also the wife of eros but thats a different paradigm. If one wants to make analogies Ego the charioteer of reason restrains appetite of ID and the drive of Superego ( thymos) The combination of which is psyche

I do wonder though , who all the houris are supposed to be, and what happens to them when youre busy or they no longer are virgins or if ones wife meets you up in heaven.
  4. [TTC Study] Chapter 72 of the Tao Teh Ching

Well it has be sexistly said, that a man makes it so they can live , and his wife makes it so they can live well.
  5. My new Buddha statue

GrandmasterP, I'm afraid I'm not well-versed in a lot of this. I don't know what you mean when you quipped, "Go figure". What are you deriving from the fact of his left-handed cosmic mudra, and being black? (If you don't mind answering.) Im gonna guess the big guy is poking some fun at societies penchant for depicting god figures as similar to themselves,, so it is a bit surprising to see something that doesnt show that trend. Depictions of Buddha vary from locale to locale as Im sure youve already noticed. Though Im thinking the tradition said he had red curly hair and was left handed. But the important thing is the dhamma , and not as much the particular representations emphasis.

No proof , besides, we dont know if she does any hard style martial arts.
  7. Yeah, even as it was, I think he threw the things off the darn mountain! temper temper tsk tsk
  8. Moses was given superpowers and stone tablets by his god to help him convince the masses that he was endorsed by his god , without those he would have been banging his own head against a wall,
  9. Yeah, me too agree with the action. C'mon WWROA, youre really looking excessively preoccupied with this issue , IMO youd feel better once you decide to let folks do what theyre going to do , and just make the food decision for yourself , rather than shift the tide.
  10. [TTC Study] Chapter 73 of the Tao Teh Ching

Ha ha ha ! well said ! Yep I can go on and on , parse things down to a gnats behind. Guilty as charged.
  11. Meditation harm?

Why is it that one ' slides back' ?
  12. I agree, IMO the word chi could use a prefix or suffix to denote what one is referring to. ( better yet , ban the word entirely and use an accurate term)
  13. Im just checking on Cd's current stance , lots of folks look at chi ,,,,in their own way.
  14. How does your garden grow? This season

I had very good luck with cayenne peppers , found them to be extremely productive.. ( down here) but the fresh rabbits would suit me just fine . ( Id skip raccoon, but am curious whether the relocation takes hold, they tend to be strongly territorial )
  15. [TTC Study] Chapter 73 of the Tao Teh Ching

Well as you said, ' it won't matter when youre dead'. My boss says,, ' Cmon, this isnt going to be important to you a year from now if you even remember it. and these things I see as wise perspectives to have , and not very different from my external perspective thing. Yeah , my boss can put pressure on me to say, work late , because he thinks something is important TO a customer , and so that makes it important , TO him , and its only important to me , if I have an internal imperative to keep my job OR I have an internal imperative on behalf of the customer or my boss. .. But any way you look at it , the tao doesnt care , my boss cant actually hand me his imperative and the customer cant hand my boss his. As far as feeling some NEED to resolve a difference , one of us would have to feel like it was important TO ourself. Rarely does anyone want to change their opinion , neither you nor I really feels a need for it , we both get through our days just fine as we are , so there really is no demand to make that happen. so I end up concurring that theres no need to fix things that arent broken. ( long way round to the same end- eh?)
  16. [TTC Study] Chapter 73 of the Tao Teh Ching

Im glad you like that external imperative thing, its a 'pet ' concept I use of late, to just back off and let things be as they are. I forget it often , but when I dont , it reminds me to check on my internal ones, examine whether the thing is really important to me to react to , or to resolve .... ususally I find I really can let things slide , be patient , let them take care of themselves. When I forget , which is often , I get churned up over nothing. ( external to ones own imagination)
  17. Huh, I thought you promoted the idea that chi was breath, and were very particular about that, are we seeing here a change in that? ( some sugars are stored as glycogen in both the muscles and liver - the rest is converted to fat - not going to the bladder- and its the excess insulin production by the pancreas which results in diabetes - which is the failure to continue to produce enough insulin to clear the bloodstream of excess sugars- which then may show up in the urine stored in the bladder in situations of high blood sugar)
  18. [TTC Study] Chapter 73 of the Tao Teh Ching

That probably true , but since there is no external imperative .. that should be fine too , right?
  19. That theres nerves in the gut , fine , that the brain interacts with body ,, fine That one visualizes three energy centers as having physical locations ,,fine That one sees mind associated with energy centers , fine But if yall are saying you really believe that the nerves of your intestines are where your mind resides .. y'all are mixing 'philosophical' constructs into a melange.
  20. I read something a bit different , that the Greeks associated the head with reason, wisdom, The chest with will, and courage , and the abdomen with appetite temperance . If they had experience in battle , Im figuring that they would have had a good idea about the effects of trauma to the head and did understand it had something to do with thoughts. So I disregard that other idea (which I also heard).
  21. [TTC Study] Chapter 73 of the Tao Teh Ching

Yeah , Im mostly cognizant of your feelings on this , We have some complicated disagreements on these things, but if we wait patient enough maybe we wont be so opposed.
  22. Since when is lower Dantien mind?
  23. What the hell is the abyss anyways?

Yeah! ...... But .. Whoever SAID that a man can't marry Raisins ! The Tao doesnt care if you marry dried grapes whether they have boobs or not!
  24. [TTC Study] Chapter 72 of the Tao Teh Ching

    You are indeed wise
