My issue with Free Will is that it continually challenges me. Man it feels better to say that! It challenges me because, well... You all keep changing your mind. And it appears to agree with the point I was posing there. As a God , if there is free will, God has to keep his hands off the pie. or man cant base behavior on physically constant 'laws' otherwise. He cant show his mettle truly ,if he is influenced to behave in one direction or another. To cleanly leave free will intact, one would also have to keep ones mouth shut. (figuratively speaking) Creation though , once done, is self evident. The various traditions describing The creator-s desires must therefore be fake,, since it would undermine the plan of free will if they were not. And if there is no free will there would be no reason to 'go through the motions'. And either way ,, there is no way to gain favor or lose it. Right? Along the same track,, asking gods questions or ,for things, is also a non starter.. since, if satisfied , would undermine again uninfluenced free will. God creator , if existant , must be silent once the ball is in play , right?

Yes, I read the rumors , and april 30 has come and gone, as have the other 'release' dates.I havent seen any verification that it has happened this time either. I wanted an accurate answer , not "just any Ol' response. + Theres a difference y'know. (wheres that clock when you need it ?) But any way , If God cant answer even that , simple practical question , who would he be to ask about the meaning of life of? Let alone, pander to. Additionally, if the responses to questions are not of concrete value... that is to say , they dont reflect the state of how the real world actually is then , the is no proof that any of it is valid. It leaves one in a subjective web just as entangled if the question had not been asked. The response I did get might seem to indicate that the answers to questions are often readily available , that one can seek in order to find, and sometimes such is a small matter. Which is certainly true , accurate , and important to consider. As far as any evidence goes, Gods plan would be to "eat and be eaten", might makes right etc.. Yahweh , was perfectly willing to dispose of all men , I think the same goes for Shiva, and the Eastern gods tend to just leave everyone to their own problems. Why be supportive of any of these ? if one is actually compassionate. Who is the god of compassion which delivers a free pass and front row seats to all regardless of what they do ? ,,,, and then if this is the case, do whatever you please, because Gods favor is not conditional. With all options on the table ,it can easily be construed that god created man with survival of the fittest as representing goodness, and mans propensity for compassion is his failing ,and the thing to be overcome , to gain his favor.

I feel like I got skipped for a like Well ,maybe my post wasnt of sufficient sentimentality , at the time I thought it was, but reconsidering now ..maybe I am actually the hard arse I get accused of being.. My SONY dream machine is around 22 yrs old now -still going strong, but I prefer the phone to beat it to the punch with the sound of seagulls and swashing waves which is less abrupt. Next best plastic appliance was the original Mr Coffee machine, (and I only tossed that having decided it was an eyesore). Its nice when an item lasts , does its thing faithfully etc.

This is just how I read it all , just me maybe.. Im thinking theres truth in it , but consider one who has done this , well they might beat themselves up over it, yes the person was following the paradigm of religious folks before him , but that wouldnt make his guilt go away. He pounded himself for years trying to come back to a situation of ease ,like back to when he was a young innocent boy ,, and IMO he finally came to the realization that he just could not beat himself enough to make it go away, he'd litterally die trying to escape his self inflicted misery. And it was only when he forgave himself that he could open back up. Thats how we end up with the 'morals' of the whole story ,, Re: suffering, relief , human nature , the middle way , and the human condition. It is the low point to contrast his ultimate triumph, the story is not one of straight up meteoric rise from the norm we live and "hypothetical heaven of the gods" It is a human story of fallibility confusion and finally revellation. IMO

Its the kind of thing that works a bit initially but , it is labor that creates the value of the coinage to the individual who earned the coin, this assessment about how dear that coin comes is what makes one reluctant to part with it, and THAT is how the money retains a value. To dump a basic level of cash out on the public drops the value of cash actually being earned. Yes it does redistribute the wealth to those who arent working , and yes having everyone involved with the economy is a good thing,, (which one isnt if they cant produce or purchase anything) but it undermines the value of the coinage and drives capital elsewhere. You can picture this mechanism if you were to have the idea that you are just going to announce that the value of all your drachmas , will tomorrow be worth ten drachmas. Just announce it. "Hey everyone !" I hereby multiply your money. The effect will be chaos ,not a doubling of wealth ,, because money is a means of exchange of weath which is actually the tangible item or labor one buys and the importance of that weath is a fuction of that which was required to gain the item as well as the inherent value of the item. The cure for the poverty problem is to get everyone involved in EARNING. Not having everyone involved is why a country might have a geat economic product , like oil , and the vast majority of the populace has little to nothing.

Which would mean that you became bad as you drank the water. IMO the reality is that there is water in the glass, but the idea that there are halves is erroneous , (because that requires an imaginary 'whole' to say one doesnt have.)

I dont want to speak for anyone but me on this , but , I look at it that it is our dissatisfactions wich drive us to do things to reachieve satisfaction. if youre satisfied you keep your cards and "stick" , you dont draw again unless youre confused. When nothing is happening, there is no change ,, no "active living" , no marriages or reportcards no selfrecriminations etc.. This doesnt mean you cant have a boost from a nice meal of red curry , or smell roses ,, it just means that the cycles of getting back to that satisfaction recur unless one can... reach for relief from these external pleasantries and gripes. I figure everyone has felt themselves losing their temper, and you can either,, play that paradigm , swelling the dissonance intentionally in hopes perhaps of popping through to another 'place' ,, or you might dig somewhere else with muscles that have no mass , collect yourself , relieve the heat in your head ..and do the functionally fit thing. Everyones done both ,, but has everyone looked close at that strange phenomenon of control they had? Does everyone peel that access hatch open wide enough for a camel to walk through ? Well , it should have given you the idea that the jesses need to be held on to in order to keep the bird from flying off the hand reflexively. That one is being kind by removing them is still confused , Intentionally leaving it alone is compassionate , not having abused it for years implies no obligation, finally letting it go is then end of an applied imprisonment ,......... you dont deserve a gold star for that. To see that as kindness requires an umm short term view. Besides ,the guy is probably going to grab another one and start over. Just removing the jesses isnt releasing the bird fully unless youve brutalized it. If youve trained it to be bonded to you then having them on or off is moot, in terms of escape, except as an encumbrance. and I didnt say one had to leave the leathers on to abandon it. Well Im not a falconer , but I did watch some clips and maybe If you had looked around more youd have seen that they are used to kill foxes which are highly prized , killing other birds largely being a waste of time since they eat a half pound of meat a day. So by others.. basically the bird is punished by being tethered whilst flailing around which they hate ,,and so when they think they can get away , they do, and I dont blame them one bit. The kinder way is to limit the use of jesses to situations when the bird needs to be closely controlled, they arent needed for getting the birds to return. Its just a mind trick some employ because they dont know any better.

Well the thing was flying before, so the straps werent holding it down, sure youd take off straps and hood- to unencumber the bird, ,, but how is leaving it alone inhumane? Theres no other option I can think of ,because if you continue to feed it its going to hang around rather than get itself secure. And if ,youre waiting for it to abandon you ,strapless, it wanders around camp getting into trouble . Thats irresponsible , how could you be so cruel?

I like the "if used properly" caveat., because those who would be your enemy , or are operating from another paradigm , may not respond in the way you might like.,, and of course , it can backfire bigtime. I think that speaks for itself.

Youre absolutely right Rara , if it was just some cultural quirk like boomerangs , then a single culture can say they have some special link to it , an ownership of sorts. But the rational consideration of real things isnt exclusive . So.. By the same token , rational considerations which differ from that suggested by the TTC etc also have a validity, which is why some people entertain those ideas instead. And thats why the TTC was written in the style it was.

I think youre exactly on target but.. youre being influenced by a cockeyed idea that bettering yourself directly means fitting the ideas of what someone else promotes as "good" or 'negative'. I always like to use my cat as an example , so forgive the implication that you are a cat, but ,, she isnt operating on the moral paradigm at all ! Yet , to an observer, she is a 'good' cat. Shes pleasant..... and still can do her jobs as a cat , which are to eat mice ,and keep me company. I repeat for emphasis,, the moral paradigm doesnt facilitate or make happen the 'goodness or negativity' that she displays. She just IS , whatever she is. Like wise , you or I am , whatever we are,, and without the self judgemental paradigm we still would be. Picture you are alone on an island , does the idea of goodness or badness still apply? I say no, I wouldnt be doing things to be good or nice or mean. Id just be living. Not living on an actual island , one has to daily come to terms with the additional factor of society though ,right.. but the idea of what good is ,, is still just as fungible, you can do whats expedient, you can be pleasant to retain friends , or you can be mean because you dont want any. Assuming you have some of the normal social instinct of any human , you will trend toward being nice for that reason alone.. thats not phony forced or fabricated. The same goes for some of the other paradigms. Like I said at the beginning , I think YOU are on target, I think the confusions are someone elses.

One cant live and act in a situation of non-dualistic reality, There is no ONE , which would require something to differentiate oneself from and there is no living , which requires the paradigm of non living as well and there is no reality vs unreality , unreality being an untrue assessment of what is and there is no acting. because that requires space and time and change. You can attempt to view the world less 'dualistically' from an emotional standpoint however, that is to say you can be accepting how things are rather than getting wrapped up in false perceptions negative assessments and so forth. IMO If you look at a forest ,you may note every tree is different , ,, therefore , there is no trueness to the idea of the 'trees all being the same" the grouping of 'trees' is a mental thing which simplies what is actually true. All the things that are over there really are over there, but they arent the same . There is no tree which is the tree, or has some exclusive claim to being a tree. You can mentally include or exclude any thingies from the grouping , but the grouping itself isnt real. both unity and diversity are fake ideas , which you may use for thier functionality but ultimately its still untrue.

Well ,lets say you slipped up somewhere in your 'cultivation',, it happens,, If you were clear on what it was you did to get out of the habit or mindset etc , then being able to see ones 'footprints' could be helpful. This would be an instance of needing them for a specific purpose,, and since anyone might screw up here and there , the situation of them having no potential use, isnt as likely as them having potential use. Yknow, , the light rambling verbal exchanges which might seem boring right now, really just serve the purpose of emotionally connecting. Engaging in such , should be done for that reason, because you wish to be in touch with someone else. It may be that as you look closer at yourself , the"important" stuff to you is this stuff. I figure , at some point , you wont be so concerned with the internal things , and youll be settled about it. When that has come about , youll see the important thing has become the small talk again... but from a new perspective. Id hope you dont put the folks around you on a shelf until that happens though, make time for each, and not in a stingy way , but with an enthusiastic rich way. Pay attention to what is going on , dont rush back to private self consultation. I know I personally havent done enough of that. So you can use me as an object lesson , as in .." dont let this happen to you!" And yes , skip trying to be funny , or exciting , let them be funny and exciting just being patiently ready for them to appreciate this stuff in themselves , helps make it go there , because they want to have a good time too.
