  1. Is taking an entire bottle of melatonin safe?

Where I come from we call that sleep.
  2. I really dunno the answer to where the mind is specifically. I'm not sure it makes a difference. But I would say, that it strikes me as clear , that the possibility for life lies in every square bit of space , every atom has at least the potential to be part of a living thing, whether or not it does, depends on the situation of the partcle. Situation itself , relies on matter or energy , differentially distributed in real space. Therefore if life itself is a function of relative distribution of those phenomena, then mind may also be. Mind then is a ubiquitous potential throughout the universe , it may not have distinct location. As Lao theorizes about, there really are no definative divisions between things, the divisions are arbitrary mental confabulations, so mind may have no limit in dimension either. It may be thT there are only concentrations of mind centered upon the situations of greatest complexity.
  3. Is taking an entire bottle of melatonin safe?

Ok.. I was just thinking that not getting enough sleep doesn't help much jingwise either.
  4. Food

Between the sichuan pepper , woodcraft ,and fatback , I think I want to marry TM right now
  5. Is taking an entire bottle of melatonin safe?

You only live once, and you have a ready excuse:) I thought that retention thing was just for men , the thing says female.
  6. ...

    I'm compassionate about you.
  7. Bias against New Age

Nicely said ,agreed , even so, I myself find it very difficult to let go of my convictions. I suppose the more I can the better off I might be. But then someone says they can survive a fall of thousands of feet -based on their sentiments- and I have to start all over again!

  9. Watching The Birds

I think the (early) birds are starting to move back northward now, Saw some stuff around this weekend which were out of town for breeding. Hawks ,a shrike , yellow throated warblers.
  10. Bias against New Age

Is it the wiser one who hates or is hated? Unreal real spirituality ? Imperfect enlightenment? Pearls before swine? Wheres the lightswitch at?
  11. PP

It certainly has significant drawbacks , Ill grant you that.
  12. PP

Number of people reaching enlightenment ? Pbfft ha ha ha ha How the hell would anyone have any idea? You can't even get concensus on what it is! Let alone calculate the rate 2500 years ago.
  13. PP

There are pros and cons to our large society. They were already coming to understand that 2500 years ago! Which is why we have the dao of confucius! Thelearners description of monkeysphere and human motivations are really rather accurate. Other people especially the neurotic , tend to drag in the unwary..but that is even true of small families. SO blaming your society for its complexity , or being against it in some way, isn't aiming you anywhere helpful ,, unless you want to run off to a retreat somewhere.
  14. Which name are you? I didnt catch the censoring part, but its an interesting subject ( if one can get past the heavy speculative aspect of discussing the habits of cave men.)
  15. Alchemical reality

Disease and time consume our flesh
  16. Failed Attempt

Put it in the forefront rather than in textual studies and maybe itll get more play ? Why segregate Chuang's taoist text out of the main discussion area? It is CENTRAL to Taoism , not some offshoot subject of esoteric value. Location location location. For structural purposes it might be possible to leave the thing out in the main area a specified period of time , and if the thread gets too long or falls asleep , it gets relegated back to the shelf and a new bit begun.
  17. Coming off caffeine

I wish I still had my moms old cook book, she had lots of bitter tasting recipes. Everything from cake to candlesticks!
  18. Building inner force

Did you skip my follow up question as a boo-boo , didnt want to get into it , or felt it was self answering? Ive got questions to ask you, and you are seeming evasive which suggests me not to. For instance my inner force has been on the rise , and its not a good thing, I may just have to split for a while.
  19. Building inner force

"Thoughts are impediments to seeing your own face. Dont give rise to any thought , and discover who you are". Papaji The person who said that shouldnt be giving any criticism of someone elses teaching skills IMO Not only is it not explaining anything, its telling me not to have any thoughts either. If someone wants to piss me off royally they should copy him. Krishnamurti said that thoughts are inevitable , in the interview I saw, and that suppressing them was a counterproductive waste of time . So this guy Poonja isnt in line with Km. who did impress me, precisely because I didnt hear anything like poonja's quote . Put on top of that the thing about westerners which he could just keep his mouth shut about, and we are just destined not to be on the same side. There are many different paths to truth (or none, if you resonate with Krishnamurti or the Dzogchen masters) and that is specifically because each of us is unique and each of us will respond to different perspectives. I obviously agree with that. If they are all fingers pointing at the moon that doesnt exist , they ARE all wrong. I really dont need his wrong opinion, I have my own.
  20. Building inner force

    Sounds like stamina.
  21. I enjoyed the heck out of that (especially the raccoon) ha ha ha Lots of good insightfull points , but it doesn't seem very taoish. I wouldn't mind seeing more stuff like that..but a lot of folks are outside my monkeysphere. Sincerely, Stosh
  22. Coming off caffeine

A cup of coffee may have somewhere in the neighborhood one fivehundredths of a gram of fat. Maybe two calories tot if you dont add anything. It irritates some folks , some folks get headaches if they miss it, but its chock full of antioxidents. Do you need more antioxidents ? I have no problems either consuming coffee or not. Of all the vices folks can entertain .. coffee is pretty tame. If its annoying you quit , take some ibuprofen before you get a migraine rather than after, They should be gone for good in a few days , just live with it that long , dont 'substitute' if you are wanting to quit something ,, because youll probably just bounce back and forth between vices. IMO

Im not really 'into' the idea of reading Poonja's criticism of Krishnamurti's views until I have a whack at them myself. And then once Ive had a whack at them myself I wont really need to know Poonja's opinion, but thanks for the suggestion, if I wasnt so pigheaded it might be very informative. Im not one to advocate celibacy either , thats up to someone else, but I do agree that 'other folks' can be very distracting , unsatisfying ,or drag one into their neurotic behavior patterns.
  24. Building inner force

I'm not sure, I would prefer to be considered the gentleman ... But,, Lemmme phrase it differently, once one has been smoking, the tendency is to repeat the habit. There is a perception of distress connected to the new abstinence,, the ordinary view is that one must exercise a thing called willpower to do so. Krishnamurti appears to have said something to the effect that if ones self gets out ahead of the impulse, there is no willpower needing exertion so the behavior doesn't happen in a misguided attempt to exert . Does it sound like I am close to the understanding of either of you?
