Wow thats a heavy heart but there aint no need to call my use of the word need a trick I try to stick to the realm of the world we walk and talk in Im fine with whatever that is, most of the time I cant bring myself that say ,, the hurt of a hurt DOESN"T matter I just was brought up to care about things ( certainly too much too often) but ....I care about my job, and my life ,folks around me, and even whether my kitty cat is happy with her dinner. How silly is that ! I just try to keep the weight of the world light enough that my days dont suck deity butt partly by taking the highs of even dinky 'blessings' seriously and writing off the things that aint so hot. "Just write it OFF ! " as Cosmo Kramer might say. Sure its cherry picking ! Why NOT cherry pick! Its my darn illusion ! My reading of the TTC is about the mundane world and I think it provides perspectives about mundane topics ,, yep I know It isnt a dogmatically supported view But again its my darn Illusion now and Im sticking to it. For me.. The ethereal world AND the mundane world both get a hefty grain of salt ( ironically becoming ... lighter ! ) By the way I know I am being rather vague here , I dont know the ins and outs of your situation only you really would anyhow , and I am not blowing smoke up your ass either. A great deal of what physically comes about owes itself to ....internal climate. ( not talking magic here either) Stosh -

Just an opinion but .. The tao provides us with all we really need ( illusory or not) it provides us with things to do a place to do them all and the means to accomplish some of them -
Give yourself as much a break as you would give somebody else , (about now and whats done and what will be even yet) not doing so is a waste of time. I have to keep reminding myself that what I consider ' play ' or ' fair retribution' isnt universal , I get grumpy and let a bit of it fly around , but like a squall that burns itself out real quick there is an aftermath I didnt intend Old habits die hard , and since I dont believe in "grace" , I figure I just have to live down what Ive done or said , and try to recalibrate Its my conviction that there is a tipping point I need to notice , when things are going to go south Im usually wrapped up at the time which makes it difficult to see, but I think it is always there. Ps dont label yourself as a hypocrite either , If the left hand may have said something the right hand didnt see at the time ..So what. yesterday is gone and we all have fresh boo-boos to make

Descriptions and explanations of "The Now"

I was under the impression that I had been told that all things- events were connected to one another ,, that events and objects were indistinct, , presaged or completely reliant on all other things and events to be. It conflicts with seeing all events as "standing alone" ,, and Im not sure if I can have a Karmic disposition of my own either. Either view is fine , though they seem to contrast , IMO ... but the thing is .. I just dont see what the effect - difference the conceptry is intended to have on me or my Karmic disposition. Can you relate it ? -

What? I thought it was well put , and I googled up some other quotes I liked but yes , it aint my usual fare. Then again , you could be defensive about a beverage , which would be an odd bagatelle, (but common enough.). Sorry If I was playing too rough -

Coffee isnt crap , its very high in antioxidents , the highest levels of any regularly consumed item Im told Some folks try to find something bad in anything pleasurable It has its blessings too , in moderation or reasonable abundance its certainly a rather innocuous "vice" then again,, deprivation for the heck of it ,doesnt seem spiritual to me either ironically it helps to keep one regular ! Tea on the other hand is One of the most famous and important statements attributed to Tilopa is: βThe problem is not enjoyment; the problem is attachment.β[5]Tilopa -
The four letter F and S curses are both of german origin , and in my experience they know the meaning.

Might I suggest to pick one frame of reference and stick to it? create the game as a game or consider life as it is Solving both simultaneously ... may point you to corrections in one frame which really relate only to the other. The frame of reference of the experience of an attitude isnt the same as calculating how one might feel under certain circumstances Actually doing the legwork can be surprising

If the game is to be a video game ..... well the earth moves beneath our feet whether we will it to or not , our bit is to try to stay balanced with the state of affairs such as they present themselves , so have the game time out and reincarnate you with either a net positive advance toward enlightenment or a net regression ( you could also have tests of character inbetween 'lives' to decide what incarnation you are going to have to live with next turn.) There are plenty of Juicy demon-angels to encounter and winning happens when the game is finally done.

No I am serious.

Im not the focal point of reality Whether I have that as an illusion or not
-
It isnt my personal credo but there are at least others who consider life a trip toward death that life itself is such an imperfect and stressful situation that the end of it permanently is the desirable thing
-
individual death would be opting out if a living person was the center of reality then this other persisting phase would be different either synonmous with the entirety of reality or exterior to reality
-
If the game keeps you as the center of the reality, then by quitting the game you relinquish the spot So the object of the game was satisfied by ending it. Start a new game

Being satisfied with the present is an antidote for expectations to examine- that for which you have hopes- and find that anticipated satisfactions are no more satisfying than the satisfaction you already have,( or can have) neutralizes the impetus to chase other stuff. Often folks ( including myself ) chase illusions out of habit , and knock ouselves off the perch. The level of peace and satisfaction that one thinks they can have , or do have at any given moment is a largely empty-arbitrary assessment. Despite even large changes in folks lives, they tend to return to their natural level of happiness over time if they dont continually refresh their 'reasons' to be dissatisfied. So I believe I agree with Vmarco that one should refrain from those behaviors that amplify false expectations or sway us away from the paradigms of our own peace. Simply put We tend to be our own worst enemy , so stop it. IMO

I 56 , N 75, F 12, J 11 One in a hundred but Im in there with Jerry Seinfeld ,Martin luther King ,Judo Ant Steve and neichuan . Do we have here an extra high participation here of INFJ 's ? Its a bit like handwriting analysis I figure, seems accurate after the fact ,but it isnt likely predictive. IMO

Or they may be happily chattering instead of indulging in 'cultivation'.

Potentially yes , I could be inhibiting progress to a truth by holding to a perception of free will. It is just where I am at now ,consequently ,,( if there is no free will ) then it is outside my ability to change my perception of the issue. No person has convinced me yet , presented an argument to me ,which ,,,I consider strong - to the effect that ,, there is conclusive benefit to be had in abandoning --- the illusion of free will ( or ego for that matter) I have read assertions galore , that there is afterlife , that there are gods , that some special amazing sort of enlightenment is attainable while alive etc. I am willing to consider assertions ,, but I dont jump for them, I just check them out and consider the content first. The mundane ,knowable peace ,of a contented belly and a quiet mind is really quite wonderful in itself , I dont have to chase the strange rainbows that others see. It is Ok if unknown random brings to me greater riches at its own pace , or if my own intentioned drifting does. Many have said that one can chase his own tail with futility , and to overshoot a mark misses as cleanly as to undershoot. -
As precise and descriminating as terms may be.. they often refer to things and ideas ( forms) which have innate fogginess , grade into their opposite, or are just objectively uncertain specimens in themselves. Black grades into white through a situation called gray , but they are ultimately just relative points on a brightness scale. For the purposes of discussion folks can adopt a stance of 'suspended disbelief ' which simplifies the situation enough to have it point to conclusions and thereby help answer the ultimate question of What do I do Now? Knowing an individuals or group definition for Daoism may point a direction to follow for a person who is uncertain ...at a later time a person may reach a state of comfort with the factoids and retain a sense of the direction they should follow.

I googled up the far eastern Knots to 'get' your reference , if its referring to the linkage between now, past ,and future .. It isnt a problem to be solved or defeated ( its a perceptual model) ,, and the same goes for dependent origination ( also a knot reference ) Einstein asserted that God doesnt play dice, so in large degree I figure he would be comfortable with dependent origination... but quantum physics which came after him , seems to be indicating that dice is getting played at some level (meaning that there is randomness at some level) . Personally I wish to adhere to the idea that there is ' free will' , and a disconnect -mental- which allows us to originate ideas outside the box ( such as Alexander demonstrated,, and so figuratively speaking ,he cuts the Gordian Knot for me). -
There are the basics that folks have in common there are specific characters as well A persons nature , alone-uninfluenced by others is good in all things ( by definition) A person subjected to others opinions, or judged , can be found to be 'not good ' by them and he may come to share in that sentiment We are judged and judge others every day understanding that our judgements and theirs are based on our each-personal perspectives undermines self righteousness about our beliefs but doesn't demand that we not continue to judge others. A person is still free to seek justifications, vindications and ego perpetuating 'strokes',, but in certain ways it can become evident as 'self defeating'- ultimately. and in others it may just be the character-worldview of what someone wishes to remain.
