Paryicipants here talk about many things. So there are many threads , why invite people to leave because some cant mind their own business? Or try to force others to fixate on the dubiously 'spiritual' . Is your spiritual aspect divorced from your real life behavior? Or do your attitudes pervade whatever you do? Even as the thread is pitted , can you npt see the tolerance exhibited? Can you not see the communities patience and gentleness in the trump thread? Hiding or dividing from our differences is a move taken out of an inability to handle ourselves in in the face of distraction or invalidation. Dont invite people to leave so as to focus yourself on matters of the heart because you then master nothing in your heart. You need the foil fpr your own position to exist as light and dark define one another. Does that answer you where I am coming from? So my question was , how is a zafu like a bo staff?
-
They Have used a lot of restraint. But you cant really divide real life people from real life spiritual like that, IMO, you just end up with a phony esoterical new agey pile.
-
One doesnt normally expect a school to have no students. How is a zafu similar to a bo staff? Or what does a dojo have to do with a monestary?

A very good answer , though not directly so... Yeah national politics is beyond what we can credibly affect as individuals. But the the thread in itself is not a determiner of national policy. It IS however exemplary of how we as individuals deal with one another, how we who have at least some concern about a spiritual angle on life deal with That issue, and how we regard real life 'events' like the existence of politics is attended. If a person pontificates about a spiritual view on life , perhaps they feel they have gained or learned , then this gaining or learning should present itself in political discourse no less clearly than in a discussion on coffee beans or twinkies. I like Twinkies cakes , as for all the sugar, a bowl of pasta or popcorn or rice has as much or much more , since a starch is just a chain of glucose molecules. Your idea of nourishing , is not well informed as I see it , and so I do not recognize any responsibility on the part of the store to choose for everybody what they should consume , that wisely can be left to individuals. Exactly as I was insinuating , its this sense that one is more right , which compels people to start making decisions for everybody else and then they think they are doing some sort of good .

Which spiritual philosophy ? The one whos interest levels cant compete ? or maybe the Mo Pai stuff?
-
Maybe, but is there a purpose to having a clean board if participation is stifled ? Yes , even though there's a lot of rant or rhetoric , it is still an entertainment enough that people go and look at the thread. Even the complainers look at the thread ! its active even when the rest is asleep. Its not in 'front and center' even. Members ,,, some, ...tend to not want too much interference because they rightly understand that such censorship , even when done for reasonable reasons ,,, has this habit of growing out of control, affecting more and more input.( mission creep) There too , is a problem with prioritizing by ones own judgement ,,,,and that is - because once one has a preference, and power to promote it , they tend to think that the position of their own preference has more validity than alternatives. That's why rule of law , and SOP protocols get instituted rather than having a default to either -dictatorship or mob rule. Personally I think all the threads should have a life span , pick a number of posts , 50 or so, and the thread locks automatically. After 50 posts , they all have wandered or are just going around in circles , forgotten and unattended by the OP... People ask questions , and ignore the answers , where is the 'usefulness of those threads?' they should all be ending in a thank you and a locked status. End of story ! but they dont , and so one cannot pick the trump thread or the Brexit thread out and say that these posts need to have some greater purpose than the others , which have far less emotional worth or interest. IMO Just leave the thing as it is , and to those who don't want to get in there , don't read it.

That's a pretty persuasive argument to me too , by itself there ,alright .

No, that kind of Dem behavior is verboten.

This is a summary of No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover. WHY A NICE GUY ISN’T A NICE GUY Before we really get started, let’s define for our purposes what typical Nice Guy symptoms are. Often, a Nice Guy is a giver, fixer, care-taker, approval seeker and conflict avoider. The Nice Guy will go to great lengths to hide mistakes and flaws and will always seek the “right” way to do things. He often represses his feelings and has difficulties making his needs a priority while making his partner his emotional center. The interesting thing is, a nice guy is defined not by his actions, but by his beliefs! Nice Guys believe, that if they are good, giving and caring they will be happy and fulfilled. Unfortunately, this often isn’t true. And when a Nice Guy doesn’t get anything back on his investments, he becomes resentful. So far, so good. But why aren’t Nice Guys nice? There are other traits that characterize a Nice Guy: ~He is dishonest and says what he believes people want to hear. ~He hides his true intention. ~He uses manipulations instead of asking for what he wants directly. ~He is controlling. ~He only gives to get and gets frustrated when he isn’t appreciated. ~He is passive-aggressive and full of rage. ~He can’t set boundaries and say “No!” These traits make it impossible for a Nice Guy to live a fulfilled life. And as you can expect, it is very unlikely that any partner will be happy in a relationship with a Nice Guy for very long. So how do you get out of your not so nice ways? BECOME AN INTEGRATED MALE! A very common pattern when we want to change a situation is to do the exact opposite of what we’ve done before. This is why Nice Guys often go through a phase of douchebaggery where they become a complete jerk. "The selling principle of the book, I presume, is that some, maybe many men, and women , are not happy with the consequences of behaving in the manner to which they have been conditioned to act, both reflexively , and philosophically." My comment still fits
-
I very much disagree about this impersonal existence thing , I cant even picture what that means. Your, my , life- spirituality is very much a 'personal' matter. But I do like the terms decondition and disharmonies , as properly descriptive.
-
The selling principle of the book, I presume, is that since some, maybe many men, and women , are not happy with the consequences of behaving in the manner to which they have been conditioned to act, both reflexively , and philosophically. This is why Daoism avoids promoting virtue as being either all light or all dark,( the .. polemic , or dual-istic , attitude ) , somewhere in-between there is a balance which is right for an individual - IN the circumstance in which they find themselves.

Wow, I didn't know it was so screwed up already ! But... Have I got this right? Ireland is no longer a British dominion ,but y'all have an informal agreement about citizens going back and forth. Y'all are not part of the Schengen Common travel area , as it is. Gibraltar and the Channel tunnel will not be an EU/EEA land area after Brexit. Its claimed that Ireland will be hit hardest if there is a no-agreement resolution to Brexit because they will lose automatic access to the single market ? huh Why would they lose access to the single market if UK opts out , if they are an independent republic ? UK wouldn't be losing any part of the dominion , or Gibraltar. I'm losing some clarity on what exactly would majorly change other than- jurisdiction of EU courts , a temporary change in trade agreements - and 6 billion in dues. ?? Is there a keyword that can point me to where or when the said 'cash payment' was made to EU? I'm thinking none of that has been done as of yet , and the fishing rights are still under negotiation , so its just another chip, y'all can choose not to throw away that either. I'm thinking Dec 11 parliament decides whether they like the agreement , I think its a half-hearted Brexit , but if y'all decide not to accept this deal , then you just prepare for a hard departure in march ? which leaves you without debts or loss , but no special trade status with EU. No? So it seems that instead of handing over 37-60 billion pounds to EU for a trade deal , you pay for the increases in tariffs to your own people , until you Do have better trade deals.
-
Ok, but in voting to leave, you put a pressure on your negotiators to make it happen, which puts them in a weak bargaining position. but You can still leave the EU , and honor the brexit directive because ,a free trade area , as its described to me, returns independence ( re: currency ,economic, and social decision making ) to the UK, but allows a more amicable trade situation- than by simply reverting-operating by WTO standards, where there is no preferential trade status at all ( to begin with). I read,, that TM wasn't all that keen on Brexit to begin with , and knowing that .. one might expect weak support from that direction. Getting a good handle on where Brits CAN agree , going forward ,, is the first wisest step. to visualize the true goal -can be more helpful than just endorsing or bashing individuals or parties. ( which I already understand to be juicy good fun ,, BUt ... )

Well yeah, article 50 makes it really pretty simple on your part, but one doesn't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The point of negotiating at all is that y'all want it to be least difficult and painful. All the countries you trade with are partners , in a way , they are mutually benefited by the trade , and so the EU should recognize that not letting go on pleasant terms is a problem for their remaining member states as well. The less nightmare the better. For us, the NAFTA was a dumb deal , but for yall a FTA may actually be the best thing , because of the number and varied sizes of the participants economies. Y'all want to keep your national identities and currencies and protect somewhat different cultures , so theres a limit to how 'federalized' an arrangement is acceptable. If the EU does crumble , that too presents problems , and it would be good to have an acceptable alternative already established.
-
Or,,, what? I read a summary which said , that you will owe 37 billion pounds , and the treaties will cease to apply. The end. And the negotiated settlement is around 60 billion , and you will still have them mucking around in your affairs. Is that incorrect? Locke "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed" 1) Is it the basic opinion of Brits that they want to be involved in a free trade area with the EU , but NOT the single market or the customs union , because it interferes with the sovereignty of Britain, mainly as regards masses of people coming in and out of the country? and being able to negotiate trade deals outside the EU jurisdiction?... and the big problem is that they want to retain a soft border with Ireland as regards people , but not embrace single market trade as dictated by the EU? 2) Does the EU just want to spank UK for withdrawing , so as to discourage a race for the door , of other member states which also would prefer Free trade zone over single market economy?
-
It only got that way because y'all weren't giving us the rights of Englishmen - which the majority here felt we were entitled to. We had the opportunity to grow across the continent , and inherited several paradigms from y'all which put us in good stead. But WW2 was what put Great Britain on a declining spiral , not US really. We stepped into an open role, no hard feelings.

I don't even care ! about Brexit ..and it seems like y'all are fools if take that 'deal' , that's not a deal , its surrender. It appears political Brexit-ers want so much to take credit for the actions , that they have no care whatsoever what those actions are. Don't negotiate at all , obviously you don't know how , so.. do what you are willing to do , and deal with the consequences, but don't negotiate away the 'farm'. Britain ruled the known world , and now in an ugly divorce , you faint? its ugly. Tsk tsk

I say it was just a pit stop for sailing vessels.

See ? Not everybody is a jerk... though sometimes it does seem excessively popular.

...I thought it was widely distributed on the history channel , but .. yes the Main access to the area did flood , but they're trying to , find 'work-a-rounds ' to resolve the questions about what if anything was the significance of the site. I find the technical challenges of the modern efforts interesting , and also the implications of pre-columbus europeans , as regards the Mi'kmaq's and so forth.
-
That's true , but Historically , what happened there? IYO .. its not resolved yet.
-
That appears to be the general opinion.
-
I guess that explains it. Thanks

The modern situation is a developmental blink in time. Humanity hasnt had a prayer keeping caught up , or of growing into the new paradigms. Which is not to say that our recent ancestral paradigms were all that sweet either , cannibalism is hardly a generation or so passed! and all the basic motivations of apes are still in play. You expect too much, but, without high expectations , what chance is there to find the humanity in humanity?

Meaningless argument , beneath you , tsk tsk
