  1. All I am getting at ET is that its the focus on the end goals (which arent always met ) that generates the apathy (nothing works). Responsibility is a good subject for another thread. Mh competes, as I ,and you do ,here on this forum but its a win win thing as I see it. Worrying about how many 'converts' we accumulate opens us up to non-success and focus on non-success could lead to apathy. Actually we have much less responsibility if we never convince anyone of anything, so , since we dont really have anything to gain, responsibility is undesirable. Stosh
  2. Precisely ,( except it still has the elements of competition) and by the way I consider it a good remedy for the apathy of the original subject just trying to be clear about what one actually needs , and ignoring the winning thing and being focused on the process rather than the goal. 3. Mh, Yeah, it isnt the definition of competiton where folks lose. Negotiations , agreements ,relationships, and play are the MAJORITY of compettions folks have. they weigh far more greatly in our lives than the other kind and I though it important to consider these rather than concentrate on win lose scenarios alone. 4. People compete all the time in win win scenarios often its called a marketplace Stosh
  5. Being bright doesnt mean one has the best interests of the community at heart. Since smarts constitute a tool, not a motivation. Even those in a dead end job have honest work and minimum wage here can feed a mouth if its not wasted. The more elites running the place , the less likely that is. Stosh

Who knows what anybody elses tea is like ? Thing is, that one wants to suit oneself , and whats good for me aint neccesarily whats good for another. I try to toss my own choices out for other folks to consider , and look at stuff I can incorporate as well.. Im just not going to dump my recipe and start from scratch on somebody elses say so, and I dont really expect anyone else to do that on mine either. So the ending of my little story has them working together to make the tea that suits the Bum rather than sticking him with the masters Tea ,fine enough as it is. It seems the harmonious ending to be desired. Neem works fairly good for garden pests too , it doesnt kill , it sort of confuses the enemy. Im fairly sure it will grow here in fla and wouldve grown it myself... though it does smell a bit funky like old oranges. Have a nice weekend Stosh

What do you mean by that there? Turtles Yes, Panas is taking a hard line ,(GMP a softer one ) but I dont see why the term indicates confusion. Stosh

One day Master Chang was brewing tea, It was a fine tea. “The best in the world! I should share this with everybody.” he thought. So he went down into the village with a pot of it. The shopkeeper didn’t want any. The soldier didn’t want any. The farmer didn’t want any. Finally he came upon a bum who gratefully accepted some. This is fine tea ,Master Chang , thanks! Tell me something ,sir bum, Master Chang said… No one else wanted any of this tea, it is the best in the world, why did they refuse it? The bum replied, its because they can all make their own To suit their own taste, I just don’t know how to brew tea. Ahhh said Master Chang , you are wise, Sir Bum! Let us go and brew you the best tea in the world! So they did. Stosh

Marius , I was raised Christian , I gotta say I dont believe any of it now, for various reasons. Youre hitting on quite a number of topics ,in just that one post. As far as I know it the Christian dogma is actually that there are multiple levels of purgatory -hell , it isnt forever after, that one day Jesus comes back to earth with all who have ever lived but things are better in some way. General parishoners tend to get various simplified scenarios, so if thats where your faiths basically lay,, then all you need to do is get a more thorough understanding of IT, there are certainly many varied views of the judaeo-christian formula. Lots of Tao Bums have talked on the subjects of what makes for virtue , and with some digging you will come up with all sorts of raw data to crunch. The TTC in fact talks quite a lot about it , but you should understand that virtue doesnt always equate with Christian views of "goodness". I still think you need to slow down and pick your most important focus, is it 'how to be good' or' how to feel good' or 'what exercises are helpful' 'why am I pessimistic' blah blah blah. Stosh

Hi Marius , Ill say this ,,and then you can examine it for validity.... Pessimism is an attitude like other attitudes we develop them over time and they become habit not everything we learn to do, or make a habit, is in our own best interests long term I know from another pessimist that its possible that one can feel that there is a greater liklihood of being right , predicting events to come , a security that one has a fine 'bead' on things , eventually one may come to trust in the pessimism they have, maybe too much .. In fact some scientific studies on attitude ,show that pessimists DO actually have a clearer view of things going on around them ! There however is a flip side to the coin the stresses they must endure regarding relationships , the world view that pessimists are burdened with takes a toll on their quality of life (as they themselves see it! ) Its entirely up to you whether to carry the burden, or open oneself up to fanciful whimsey (in moderation) There is validity in both world views or somewhere inbetween. Personally , I think that its good to put proper importance on "just your own personal quality of life" , rendering mental middle-fingers to anybody who disapproves there is a wisdom all its own in that, even if it leads you to misjudge a bit here or there. 15. How is Taoism Relative to Bums?

I dont know where you came up with that perspective, Shanlung about me. I was trying to talk to you ,unregarding of our differences in world view. I just dont believe in immortals. But I am often enough not understood that it isnt new. About this forum being aggravating ,,, the folks we love often can drive us craziest. But remember the beauty of the stars actually lies in ourselves stars are just balls of burning gas So the source of your aggravation ,,,, guess where it is. Stosh

  20. Salve .

There is an inherent paradox that in participating in the discussions one is distracted from oneself and yet indulging themselves as well. If its shaking the foundations you already go by and you feel uncertain in a "bad way", Slow down , speak less , and consider more what it is that seems sound. You want to proceed in the direction of your peace of mind , sense it , follow it. Stosh
