Im not so sure thats the only way to look at it Cd the reason is this once you think you know what a term means ,you can be closed to other meanings, you might think you get it , but not.Native Chinese in China would have already been exposed to interpretations of what stuff meant ,since its largely figurative language it will always have multiple interps.Yes ,no translation from one language to another can be said to ever be perfectly accurate. Since the meanings of words are subjective in nature, there is no objective thing to be translated.Its also true within a language! I write something, and the reader makes his-her own associations.So no , I dont think there is really much reason to assume one way or another to assess whether modern chinese folks will understand the meanings of these Classical Chinese writings significantly better. They will just be more prone to their own misinterpretationsrather than the misinterpretations of the initial translator.Just an opinion , but I have no idea how one would prove one way or another if your, or my own, stance was accurate.Stosh

Aww dont sigh, I cant answer for high level attainment , Zero is about as attained as I have seen. ( Im not shy about handing out compliments or hassles) But I do think that any clear-correct understanding (which you take to heart and actually follow)yields fruit same day! The wisdom is self fulfilling. Screw the books if they aint doing you good. The whole world has lessons for you. Stosh We can't just absorb sunlight to survive,we have to do things, and we use illusions-imagination, to modify what would be the ordinary course of events favorably ( as we see it) as we go. Illusions also provide and require 'situations in which to rest up -become restored', refuges, ways to mitigate our human burden ,, and offers novel ways to alter that which actually is . Like all things reality and illusion coexist and define the limits of each other , compliment one another. Harmony for a man is a mix of illusion and reality. That's mans true nature, his special gift.Stones and wind ,may have no joy or sadness,,, Unlike them, our lives, consist of a room filled with the illusions we store there. Dudes, I have no idea what Taoist traditions say about being ticked off. But from personal experience it takes three days to really cool off, before that pilot light goes out . Walk away even if its unsettled for three days. Then start up again if its still what you want. Stosh
