In another clip , which was about a course on Kant. The prof describes logical argument as battle, a freudian attempt to kill an enemy. As long as argument is used like that, it will be an aggressive behavior. Society does appear to be becoming dumbed down in this arena, as intellectual discussion becomes democratized. The madness of our times for sure. Turn the like button into an acknowledged button, and disable video clips. Imo.

The Relativity of Happiness and the Contingency of Desires
Stosh replied to Will's topic in Daoist Discussion
I am reminded of a time , when I was a kid about five or six, and I was at the beach with my family at Coney Island. The day was overcast , and coming to a close, sand was blowing around a bit. The water was cold enough to drive almost everybody away, and so pretty much the only company we had on the beach were the seagulls looking for scraps. The water was greenish brown with the churned up sediment, and my mom called me up out of the water , to dry off , to leave. She remarked that I looked blue, put a towel around my shoulders and I stared out at the ocean while I warmed up enough to stop shivering. Looking back, one might consider it that it was a horrible distressing miserable situation for a little kid , But remembering it , I know I wasn't bothered by any of it. Not in the least. I imagined how it would be , to just stay right there, as the sun went down , and the moon came out, and the horseshoe crabs scooted around at the waters edge. I wondered what was over the horizon of the sea, and dismissed the wind from moving me. One doesn't need all the crap we have, if we are immersed in the sense of living. And its this feeling of immersion which is richer than simple ,being happy , being comfortable. -
He concludes that the chapters as presented, are massaged to represent Confucian ideas, rather than those of the author from which the base material is .. borrowed. I feel its confusing for those trying to get a handle on what was meant originally. And once the ideas are misapprehended , one ends up with more conflict about the content ,than if you had presented them as clearly modified by Confucians . Mair may feel he is being ,, fair, to present whatever versions are attended to by Chinese people, rather than to constrain himself to The authors intent . And I think we are not ready for a comparison, until we are on the same page about the original meanings.
-
Yeah I know it would be taken that way. But it really is the correct word. And I find it to be very blatant obfuscation, to say, 'I know this has been messed with , and doesnt reflect the original intent , but I plan to give this corrupted version equal footing, and then post a 'syncretic' version in case its obvious. ' per·ver·sion pərˈvərZHən/ noun1. the alteration of something from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended. Syncretism is a union or attempted fusion of different religions, cultures, or philosophies — like Halloween, which has both Christian and pagan roots, or the combination of Aristotelian philosophy with the belief system of the early punk rock practitioners.

Then it would be helpful to warning-label each that is being compared to the intended version, as follows,, "These misleading perversions are presented for comparison purposes , and should not be considered the intent of the original author."

If he feels the chapters have been spun Confucian, they belong in the Confucian section.

To know what things mean to Jessica , I think we would need accurate disclosure from her about it , or we would just be guessing. But to someone she is a problem for , I think it would make sense to leave her to her mechanisms and their consequences. Its just as possible she gets a kick out of her behavior, simple as that. It rains, and you can stand out there getting wet , because you have concocted some happy resolution for the water, or you can get an umbrella. My guess is that you might like to play some positive role , and get some positive feedback in return, or barring that as a reasonable expectation, you might like to see validation for your views in the guise of karmic justice. Just walk away, and look for nice people to be nice with.

Merely a confluence of perspective ,,, I think. At least I didnt say that the kingdom of heaven was at hand.
-
Transformations require the mental perspective of ourselves as we were or will be , as opposed to just the reality of things just existing now. Being alive, is a now situation and only now exists . Now is the perspective of heaven ,no fear of death, no actual death , death and birth equally a mystery. there is no call to mourn a death which is just as likely a birth , and so he sheds no tear for the dead but is moved by the sorrow around him secondhand ,but sincerely so. The end of transformations is not then death, but a state of different perspective in which one sees themself as being ok in whatever capacity they are existing , at rest. More simply said, is to say that he has an inner level of peace because he understands flesh and blood reality to be a dream.

I dont see that character pairing elsewhere in the text, but not being able to read it , that might be misguided, anyway , from the context, the idea of the transformation includes the possibility of ones , death, birth ,or rebirth, or reincarnation, or new dream or return to the mystery from which mind is distilled. The usual idea of death is included in the story ,but a broader understanding or speculation ,is d delineated as the protagonists enlightened understanding.

Where did you look this up? may I ask?

Didn't we all go through this thing of what a Daoist was? and the conclusion was, essentially , -someone who breathes?
-
Yeah they are , but that's pretty much a meaningless designation because under the MBTA listing , practically everything is , including cardinals , mourning doves and herring gulls. There are other such lists as well which are more selective but still include species of least concern and things like alligators are on the list because they look like American crocodiles. So these lists don't really mean what people think they mean, in terms of a birds abundance, or the threat to their species continuance.

? I ching, says The Northeast is a place and season of ordeals and difficult passage to a new life. You have to undergo that sort of challenge alone. You have to part with your friends. ?

Well done, that means you made an impression they respect.

Not knowing him I googled , interesting quotes.but, Wiki filled in that the modern spin,.. It's where you ask ,if that means - its classified? And I say No, I just want to kill you.

Yes, It is your duty to break wind when travelling in groups or riding in elevators.Like a flying bird.

The cia may have wanted to find out why their efforts seemed to always turn out bass ackwards. And in a pervasive atmosphere of lies delusion and spin, ' Just what the heck does 'real' mean anyway ? "

certainly one has the inherent ability to formulate the best life or world model as they see it. But if you do want input then you want independent ideas otherwise I am just feeding back the things that you are unsatisfied with.

I figure youre right, but for someone looking for the root sentiments , one needs the fresh eyes. Like that telephone game , messages can be confounded by the retelling. Im not saying that an evolved view is bad its just,.. not the same.

A translation contaminated by 2000 years of Confucian and Buddhist influence has high potential for being Confucian or Buddhist in character.
