Can lions achieve liberation in a buddhist sence?
de_paradise replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
Weird. This thread made me dream of a lion too. It was a pet lion, but it was playing with several dogs, trapping them like they were mice. Later there was a huge feud, one lion against about 7 housepets. -
The burden of proof is on you, to decide to see a qigong practitioner, high level cultivator or whoever can possibly supply proof to you first hand about qi. Likewise, the responsibility is your's only to see if all the other baloney is true. When you have exhausted all possible research angles, and found that its not true, then you can post your findings.

I second that.

magical operations/rituals/etc directed towards taobums?
de_paradise replied to Yoda's topic in General Discussion
You can add to the poll, How many people with an inflated sense of self-importance have succumbed to paranoid delusions, and freak out and post it on Taobums? How many borderline paranoid-schizophrenic behavior get into spirituality as another way to manifest their delusions, and end up on Taobums? ...I'm not saying there are not real threats out there, just many are mind made. -
Is meditation necessary for self realization?
de_paradise replied to Old Man Contradiction's topic in General Discussion
Meditation is the best technology to acheive fast alchemy changes in your body (s). I've heard so many rationalizations and excuses and explanations to explain why they dont meditate. There's an endless supply. EX. God told them not to. Bad for lifespan. Zen says not to. I simply think these people are ignorant. Such a pity. -
Ponder concepts like oneness, love, peacefullness, voidness, non-existence of self, being in the now, how everything is transient--this is how you connect with higher self and the Tao. But if you don't have much prana flow, then you will not benefit as much, because these concepts feel/conceived/are different depending upon your level, the alchemy of mixing the conscious mind to higher mind/Tao is fueled by prana. Sitting meditation is king. That you cant learn meditation from the internet or a book is absolute bull, but you have to be noticing things about yourself in order that you can understand deeper nuances about the meditations and how to make it more effective. For example there are diffferent ways to visual or conceive of "emptiness" In sitting meditation there is two ways to go, sideways and down. One-pointed focus is sideways, its the simplest way to start. Its easiest to do one pointed focus while you are sitting with no distractions. Going down requires relaxation of consciousness, that can start with relaxation of the body. Again, sitting or lying down is the best way. This is meditations like sitting and forgetting. With anapana breathing you can both go sideways and down at the same time, that is to say, you can maintain one pointed focus, but also let your conscious mind slip and relax away. If I were a beginner I'd probably try to copy exactly what Santiago is teaching in KAP in order to get the Kundalini up and running. It really takes alot of the guesswork out.

Qigong and energy work and yoga and stuff shorten your life span

Oh well. Guess we are goners. Tsk. It was a nice life. *cue violins -
There's also a "Guide for husbands and players" by Franco, you can find a download somewhere. It gives you a pretty good undestanding of how you became beta-tized, and how to change that dynamic. Here is a song I really like, its about jealousy: also this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnwLf88t_Wc&feature=fvst This is not advice, but I would probably find something on the side myself. You should see how fast women get attracted back to you once they sense they are in competition. No easy answer. Except I disagree with your understanding that she is somehow entitled to extra-family carnal adventures. Thats a big, no fucking way, if she wants to play family mom, she has to stick to the rules.

Enjoyment sense pleasure is fine as long as it doesnt reinforce the idea of seperate self, your ego getting gratified, you getting something. You are meant to live in joy and abundance, but unless you have attained a level where you can enjoy with the attitude of an enlightened being, then the pleasure will reinforce the idea of seperate self, you getting something. So as long as you are on the path then a certain amount of avoiding pleasures, or even total austerity can be a method by which you train your mind not to attach value to these things, so you dont crave them and reinforce the idea of seperate self. A method is meant to advance you spiritually, so that the flow of prana into your body ever increases, and the conection of your mind to your higher self and universe is widened, your jing gets more chi and your chi more shen, etc. Sensual pleasure, whether it be pure sunsets or raunchy S and M, are not in themselves bad or good. As far as missing out on life now, that is true, but look at the tradeoff value: a few years meditations versus millions of years as a being in higher bliss. If you are not prepared to sacrifice then you must ask yourself if you actually believe its possible.

If its a choice between watching CSI Miami and reading a book on Buddhism, go for the book.

Just saw it today, was interested in the South African content because I was there this year and found it facinating. I love when movies are speed-paced like that. One interesting bit was how the Nigerian mafia guys were eating alien body parts, and also wanted to eat the main guy's arm in order to become part alien themselves..... There is a similarity in that to the alleged ET's and Annunaki stories where they drank human blood for the DNA in order to become more human and therefore more suitable for this planet inhabitation. This apparently was the original motivation behind human sacrifices at temples, pyramids etc. And this tradition lives on in some extent in Catholics drinking the chalice wine....

Yeah meditation is isolating and sometimes really freaky. Think of meditation as technology to cleanse the body. Come to grips with the truth that you now know.

anyone know meditation relating to time-future/past ?
de_paradise posted a topic in General Discussion
I was experimenting with putting my intent to future and past, and getting some largish qi flows. Anyone know any specific meditations in that area? -

This sounds quite intruiging. I was aware that qi could be sent with time instructions, but have not really explored the possibilities much. I'm trying to understand how you use this as a cultivation method-- do you mean you send qi to yourself with particular instructions? This sounds like manifesting but in a more conscious way of how the mechanism works. Are you saying you send healing qi to when people have experienced the moment of injury in the past and that therefore heals the present? What kind of"wanted changes" can you heal, for example, when you say you can heal to change the evolution of people? Are you sending "calming qi" to a person when he faced a difficult event, for example? Are you saying that you send qi charged with any of the "qualities of beings.?" This is quite mindbending, I love it. -
Yes, I was just thinking of how balanced and reasonable Scotty's views are, and how nice if this thread were to finally to come to a happy ending.

Whats happening thats weird? I'll tell you that most people look as this issue as a philisophical question, but I see this as a technique or way, or concentration so that transformative qiflow becomes greater. So just yesterday, coincidentally, I was thinking of this: myself as the entire universe, but that also includes a human down on earth who has in his mind the thought of thinking himself as the entire universe. In this way, everything in the universe is mind, or in my mind. Now thyou cannot really focus on that all at once so that you can really see it and feel it, but it can flip from view to view (subjective person on earth, projected objective of self as universe) quickly, and thats good enough. That is a very powerful object or absorption. I dont care about philosophy much, I would concentrate on pink Cadillacs if it raised the level of qi, but it just so happens that the above idea, when you live it, feel it, keep it, hold onto it in meditation DOES do something. It furthers my cultivation. The key is the absorption, thats the key.

There is a point before sleep at which your conscious mind starts to shift, and control of thoughts become somewhat involentary, its not the same as a conscious thought because it seems to come from nowhere. But in fact somewhere the mind has percieved a pattern, perhaps a visual pattern in the blackness and built a probable context around it. When the context becomes strong enough that the mind can link another thought to it, something happens. I have noticed that at that time, I get an extra pulse of energy, coming in from the energy gates, and parts of my body, usually hand, feet, head gets jerked. Ive no idea why this happens, but I've been observing this for quite a long time. The jerks are sometimes violent, sometimes my hand will lift into the air like making some kind of mudras as I feel the energy volting in, and sometimes I even hear the environment around me, like a wall, make a cracking sound at the same time. Its rather fun, in order to build up to stronger jerking, just need intent and to stay in the same state when the first one happens.

That, and from the earth's perspective, the dirty qi is merely shifted from one place to another. We are part of earth too.

Levels of healing results (incl psychic surgery)
de_paradise replied to Tanemon's topic in General Discussion
I find it quite amazing that through listening/linking one can perceive another's Karma. I thought only Buddhas could pierce Karma its so complicated. I thought healing everyone was the correct way to go, at least thats what I tended to glean from examples of compassion that I have read. -
Dunno if you are talking about Fu writing, but thats Taoist not Buddhist. There's a pay per fu site on the net. I am empowered to do some relating to medical cures, but not written on paper, sent with qi and intent.

Jus' wondering if any of you here call upon ascended beings, gods, lineage elders, immortals, etc. how you do it, what you say and ask, communicate etc.

People arent scientific enough to see spiritual proof
de_paradise posted a topic in General Discussion
A few years back I decided to learn the Tarot cards, not out of any spiritual affinity, but just because I had learned the art of cold reading (all the tricks and methods of pseudo "psychics") and the cards seemed more interesting than palms. Well as I was learning, I pulled a some cards for friends, and I noticed that very often, even with good shuffling, some of the SAME cards would pop up when I drew more than once for the same person. Shrug it off, who cares. But damnit, I spent years in university doing some pretty high level statistics courses, but even with the most basic one, I could understand that the probability of the events happening were absurdly slim, nearly impossible, for example (5x5x5/72x72x72) The weird thing was, it was happening really often. I knew mathematically it couldnt happen unless there was some other unaccounted for variable. I even googled this, and I found that there was this physics professor who was playing Tarot with his wife noticed the same weird statistical anomolies. To this day, I have no idea how this happens, whether its spirits, multiple reality streams, etc. It doesnt matter really, what matters is that I noticed it and could not get beyond the fact that in this instance mathematics and science explainations were not sufficient. You cant shrug this off. At least I couldnt. But I realized since then, many people have lots of stranger experiences, and they do shrug them off as if it didnt matter that our laws of science were being broken right in front of them. They are not scientific enough to say, wait, hold the phone, thats not possible, lets explore, lets find the truth. So its really ironic and funny when the sceptics and doubters pull out the old "science" card, as if spiritual happenings were not scientific, and they are not just behaving like pre-programmed clones who are merely echoing some vastly insufficient body of accumulated and accepted knowlege. -

Thanks for your replies guys. If I have inclination one day maybe I will set up the experiment. However if what you take from this thread is that sometimes human shuffling of cards yeilds non-random turn cards, then you probably have missed my main point--which was, keep your eyes open for weird things, because you might catch some spiritual activity going on's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDZBgHBHQT8 (BTW, often I shuffled, then spread the whole deck face down and let the querant pick the cards) -

I agree Edrickgr, that spiritual people often start to believe anything without much basis for the belief, and end up looking like kooks or loonies. And this tendancy makes us all look bad because then the people with the materiaist point of view (who are in the majority and have many texts and teachers behind them) can paint us all with the same brush. That is frustrating when one wants to point out anomolies and are met with overwhelming doubt and scorn, not unbiased curiosity. I've been through this stage and I'll tell you why it happened. When my Kundalini started awakening, my view of the human body, biology, our relationship to the earth etc...many things were starkly proven on a daily basis how the prevailing viewpoint, the one we all learn in high school and college, was flawed. That causes a rejection of many accepted truths, but also causes a void in how to explain why shit happens. So into that void any new agey, moon worshipping extra terrestrial explaination can make its way in. Its a scary time, trust me, and that is why many Kundalini people go nuts. You dont know what life is about anymore, but just about everyone you know has got it wrong--thats hard to accept. (this is where you can accuse me of being egotistical and like a born-again christian who thinks he has a lock on the truth. no trust me man, it was NICE being one with the standard atheist viewpoint, i was very happy thinking life was about sex and money and death after 78 years) And the larger problem IS that the run on the mill person who believes that they are scientific, but merely an unthinking clone with much bias and a complete reliance on what they are told. The reason that this is the larger problem is because the truth remains buried, while the fringe spiritual people are a minority.
