  1. Falling in love and other spiritual tests

Instead of describing why youthful looks are valued in society, and the psychology of pair bonding in our era, I'll just focus on the cultivation aspects. Because lets face it, thats what we do: we measure things based on cultivation potential. If you fall in love with the young woman, you are falling in love with the young woman in yourself. Cat was pointing to that. Vajrayogini,is a youthful bodied tantric deity specifically inciting sexual feelings and converting the energy to spirituality. A young woman in love (or man I suppose) has a tremendous amount of energy: hug her, its like hugging an oven going full blast. I remember "Witch" on TB's talking about young men known as "green dragons," Even proximity, even if the feelings are not quite strong, your chakras are going to go wild, like in the case of Nickolai. Its happened to me several times in the years before my kundalini awakening, heart expansion. Also the on/off cold hot, love me, love me not, is something that triggers energy cascades that help much more than just a stable relationship. It makes you want to just go out and fall hopelessly in love, just thinking about it. Those "being in love" events in my past were so important in leading to my K awakening. Also so important when I practise Meta, or re-creating being in love as I meditate. The more head-over-heels memories you can get, the stronger the power of the meditations. This is why its advantageous to be a layman rather than a monk. Can monks fall in love with cute exchange students and chat online or alone with them? Not usually. Another good thing about 20's is they are more impressionable and don't "know it all" yet, so you can talk and demonstrate spirituality and perhaps improve their chances of making spiritual progress in their lifetime. That's valuable.
  2. Falling in love and other spiritual tests

It may be a test, but not in how to stifle emotions. The other way round. Kundalini says, hmm, this guy's not dead, I can work with him." Poof", a woman of younger, unfulfilled dreams appears, and your chakras start steaming up. Let him experience hot and cold, infatuation, closeness, unrequited, unfulfilled bipolar love till he turns inside out.
  3. Water fasting

An enema kit is at the top of my shopping list, for sure. My reservations to enemas was due to Dr. Goldhamer's (the expert in guiding water fasts) view that it isn't necessary. But I really would've like to have taken out some more material from the lower part of intestines. It was/is quite visible, not flat. Even now, switching to a diet of mainly fresh fruit, it seems enemas would work well. Emerging from the fast, I have gotten more elan to solve the issues related to career/finance that had been pestering me. No magic solutions, just a casting off of certain mental chains. Also I have "discovered" another way to meditate, where in fact it is not new, and been there the whole time. Sometimes we need to reach a certain stage before a meditation style becomes demonstrably more powerful than another. What I mean by style is tweaking the mental approach, not readily put into words. I can credit the fast because, I knew I needed to change, but was quite stuck in a functional routine even though it was getting less functional. To conclude, water fasting is a good (yet harsh) way to induce some shakeups in your mental space.
  4. Water fasting

Day 14 Water Fast. (last day) I thought I'd make some notes, this being the final day, and feel more energetic, probably due to the optimism that its finally over. First, to answer your question Spotless, I'm around middle age. I think detox effects has much to do with the toxins stored in your body over time, (I grew up partly in a town that refines heavy metals, I have lived in big polluted cities, drank booze, ate meat and processed crap, etc. in my earlier years), genetic and karmic predisposition, also if you fast alot I imagine the body gets used to it and its not such a burden. It surprises me that you report to be so energetic. This is far from normal, if you check most people's testimonials on the internet. One day perhaps I can do a Gandhi-like walk. -no headaches or physical pains this time round. I did the salt water flush once, but I dont think it was relevent. I am a vegan with the odd dabbling in cheese. -I lost lots of weight, though I dont measure, I had to make a new hole in my belt to keep my pants up. My friend said I look like a parody of the 1930's dust bowl migrants. -I was always weak. Could not exercise. Huffing around the shops like an 80 year old man, studying products closely because I could stop and rest. Looking at (Taiwan) supermarket products became my favorite past time. Day 10 could barely get out of bed. Forget yoga, I would just flop on a mat and not bother to get up. -Lack of concentration. Like my last 7 dat fast, but better this time round. Hopefully next time still better. -As I mentioned, I was doing an experimental "Spanish Learning, KGB style" To prepare, 4 weeks in advance I did lots of Spanish grammar exercises, which are impossible to do during a fast because of concentration issues. During the fast, I constantly watched and listened to recordings and DVDs in Spanish. The result is I've learned alot of Spanish quickly, it just pops up in my mind automatically in a perfect accent. The next stage is to train my speaking ability to mimic perfectly the absorbed word so I don't have to sound like a foreigner. Even though this was a resounding success in mind programming due to the slightly higher subconscious mental state during fasting, I wouldn't go out and recommend this. Its stressing, and much of what fasting is about is relaxing the mind and releasing. BTW, I was not a beginner at this language, find it easy, and much was re-learning. -alot of mental "stuff", worries, negativity, being like a cornered cat. This is due to the deep toxic feeling where my natural human buoyancy did not work. This came in heavy at night during the first 11 days. This is where even-tempered-ness and years of cultivation becomes meaningless. I came into the fast with some issues. The major issue I had is balancing spiritual cultivation needs with regular society making money. Feeling of career and social failure because of my devotion to awakening. Making "right" living, or just doing what it takes to get the money in this industrial web we live in. -talking with friends and other people really helped -Strangely, I seemed to wake up from a sleep in such a different mental state, it was hard to recognize myself. It took some time before the continuity of my present personality kicked in, and sometimes I had to wait until I went to sleep again.
  5. Water fasting

Thanks for clarifying, I will use that process on my next fast. I am on Day 9, and as far as physical body is concerned there are no probems. The salt water flush help anyway, and in fact, I did drink it within 10 minutes, which made it harder to consume. 30 minutes is much more sane, and I'm glad that needs to be done just once. My fast has been more about emotional/mental/energetic detox, and its been tough going because I am very sensitive to the toxins in my blood and energy stream. When this happens its impossible to generate a positive emotion, and the conscious mind is suddenly flowing with negative thoughts. I get through it. I'm going to hit some Buddhist lectures today, because I find that the most soothing.
  6. I'd like to rant about what I perceive are the failings of this board as well, except that it tends to reveal too much of my own failings.
  7. Water fasting

I'm on day 4 of another water fast. I did try the salt water flush recipe as mentioned in this thread. It made me close to vomit, so I am leery of having another try, though it worked well. It comes out as mainly dirty water, I was hoping for more solid material. I am also learning Spanish using fairly unintense methods, DVDs of television series that have Spanish dubbing and English subtitles. Water fasting has so much time to spend, one has to plan for alot of boredom. Last night in my dream, a monk was reciting mantras to me, and this morning I woke up in a better state, more positive, mentally free of the issues that have been hedging me in. One of the reasons I chose to fast was to re-center and balance myself, since it seemed to be the result of the last fast I did. I dont think enemas or saltwater flushes are necessary based on the research I have done, BTW.
  8. the FASTEST way to ground ?

Me too. Actually, when I meant focus, I meant "be completely engaged" in some other thought or state. This would include, for example having a bucket of cold water thrown on you, so that you would at that moment absolutely forget the energies discomfort and be focused on the water sensations. Similar, show a candy to a crying baby and make a face, and poof its laughing. Can you reproduce this type of state changing focus at will? It involves focus and release, disengage and re-engage. Hallucination and will. Change from one trance to another trance.
  9. the FASTEST way to ground ?

Complete mental focus on something else. The energy will still be there but you wont notice.
  10. How to Learn a New Language

Each language has its particularities, and challenging aspects. For example the declinations in German or Slavic languages, the script and the conceptual dissimilarities in Chinese, the pronunciation in French, etc.. Each person has particular strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning, some find it easy to learn by ear, some like to grind away in grammar books, some need teachers and exams for motivation. You can use the language learning to learn new skills at learning, such as training your ear or mouth muscles. Its a mistake to think that one size fits all. What language are you wanting to learn? Each has an efficient strategy. For many reasons, finding a native speaker private tutor, though it seems expensive, is the best option--if you are motivated as a learner, not just a consumer who demands "teach me" What good is a fancy expensive course like rosetta or doing backwards moonwalking 5000 if you are a dilletante?
  11. increasing energy by inducing blockages?

You can do this in your mind by vividly imagining the phsyical twisting or blocking up like a rubber band, or mimicking a yoga pose in the mind. Coupled with "tense" emotions, and "relaxed" "peace" emotions will create a greater force. I dont do the physical part, only the emotional bit and let the unleashed energies go where they naturally want. It would be interesting to practice stopping up energy flows temporarily with your mind, just to gain that extra power.
  12. increasing energy by inducing blockages?

Hatha yoga. Physically twist your body somewhere, and release. Your theory is correct about blocking and clearing, if you can do it with your mind, then all the better. What you are proposing depends on your sensitivity to the energies and everyone is different, so dont expect anyone to understand or believe what you are talking about if you make any interesting discoveries that are not the same as common chakra or TCM models.
  13. Waking up anxious

This is an extremely common problem among modern people. Everyone gets dreams that lift up the fears and anxieties stored away in the subconscious mind. Generally speaking, a typical person resolves this by jumping up and filling their day with activities which has the tendency to push away or down those anxieties and fears. Our society does this so much that "busyness" is equated with "good", even pointless busyness. "Disciplined and controlled on the outside, you are often nervous and insecure on the inside" This is a "cold reading" statement by PT Barnum, a statement, that if I told anyone, they would think I am a fortune teller. See how common it is. Some monks and cultivators, including myself LOVE to get anxieties at night or just after dreaming because it can often reveal the cause of the anxiety. There is all this hidden junk or non-useful patterns in our subconcious minds. Once the cause of the problem is revealed, we can start to name it, express it, release it, transform it. Often its something really silly. For example, due to the amount of travelling and lugging heavy bags and merchandise through airports and public transportation that I've done in the past. I grow anxious at the thought of heavy baggage before travelling--even if I have a short trip and rides perfectly arranged, I still get anxious dreams of baggages before a trip. Heavy-baggage-phobia. Step 1 is to understand what thoughts are associated when you feel the anxieties. I can work with you if you pm me.
  14. Trance Portation

I have a comment on the content, which is generally good and informative. Perhaps someone here can explain more to me. In the book, she describes various forms of trance, hypnosis, moving with drums, etc. Also, she describes various visualizations that will create a representational metaphor of a home base, and journey method. I understand that perhaps if practised enough this will open gateways to "real" journeys, as opposed to creative visualizations while in a fairly good trance. But I think the specific quality of trance needed for journeying could have been better explained. She seems to fall back on stock information quite alot to fill the book. Trance is trance, I'm very often in trance but its not often an easy hop to some astral journey. For me, I pretty much have to be asleep, dreaming and get lucid again to find myself in a state where I can do some journeys, and that doesnt happen often. Its hard for me to believe that people can zonk out so easily. From full waking to trance journey just by plopping oneself on a chair. Is there a missing key?
  15. Water fasting

There's a water fasting thread recently if you search. Generally speaking, its not for visions or great events, but an awesome rapid detox. I am planning a water 30 day fast for spring. 3 days is needed basic for ketosis, for the digestion system to shut down, so you should be looking at a longer period to gain more benefit (7 days)
  16. Emotions database

A good one I recently discovered is "cherish others" and more globally "cherish any act of kindness" Even the person who moves out of the way so you can get in the door, or the person who is more or less obeying traffic law by letting you walk accoss. It's easy to be in a grumpy mode where expectations are so high, but if you can cherish, bring up to mind, accentuate that feeling of gratitude or recognition of kindness, then its very easy to have a good day. Its easy to be optimistic about life and it flows better. (BTW, some of those listed seem like a non-Buddhist's projections of what Buddhist beliefs are. But the list gets you thinking anyway)
  17. Suppressed/repressed anger.

I'd like to throw in a few observations here. The OP's presenting issue is not present anger issues, but he requires release from the past anger or negative emotions that are still trapped in his body. Now many people can give advice on how anger is toxic, and to stay away from it, but the danger is like the that of the monk who thinks he can't allow himself to show the negative feelings and therefore represses them still. Suddenly he finds himself getting triggered, and then thinking, "damn back to the drawing board. " Or like those religious nuts who show a smiling face but are rotting inside. Theres a disconnect from the conscious mind's desire to be wonderful and balanced, and the body's lifelong conditioning. Exercise, meditations, yoga etc. take years. Its a long process. Even Kundalini takes her time to get at these issues. Its been 5 years of raging kundalini and full-on cultivation and diet for me, I know there are lots of buried toxic emotional pockets in my physical and psychic bodies. I know that because I come home from living abroad in my saintly splendor, and suddenly I'm faced with all the triggers, the people and spatial anchors of my "past" If you want to shed the deep toxic emotions, you have to allow them to come up, firstly. And then when they are up, thats when you can go into them and start to identify the contributing factors, such as memories, people, connected emotions. And during that time, you can breath and start releasing these emotions. So therefore, its good to get into situations where your " buttons" will get pushed, as long as you can understand how to isolate the feelings, and let them pass through your body. Other ways are to delberately access the memories that are related to the anger, and instead of ignoring, repressing, or telling yourself that you are better than that now because you do tai chi, but to stay with the memory, parse it. Find the location in the body of the feeling, and then amplify it, with the objective of releasing. In the hypnotherapy that I practise, thats how I would guide a client. But you can do it yourself if you just become very very good at detecting feelings, being honest, and giving yourself permission to express and release them.
  18. Suppressed/repressed anger.

I think you are on the right track. There's this saying that, in the presence of love, the body seeks to cure all other emotions unlike itself. So as you continue on the spiritual path to greater love, these emotions come to your attention to be resolved. The body is a storehouse of negative emotions that get stuck, because in the past you didnt know how to let them pass through. You didn't know that it was harmful to your own body to show lots of anger, because it worked for you. There's always some benefit: self-assertion, or motivation, etc, with your family and friends. So the body developed this pattern of anger. Except that you know, people can feel around you, that anger, especially when you keep it inside yourself, or the basic negative emotion of feeling hurt, when you keep it inside yourself, shows up in other ways. It shows up as areas of tension, and the muscles and tendons, etc of the body will keep the patterns, if practised long enough. It shows up in the face expresion, the stiff shoulders, knotted stomach, etc. Perhaps the anger was a way of self-protection in the beginning, as in, dont mess with me. Anyway, I dont want to guess. Only to say that, there are ways of finding and releasing the pockets of negative emotion. Releasing this stuff allows mental clarity, more self-control. Our natural state is one of enlightened equanimity, similar to bliss. Problems and challenges come and go, but our natural state is to breath through the emotions as the come. Our natural state allows for expression of emotions, and also calm. Starting with the list, as mentioned is good. You've already done some good detective work, so its a fair guess that this stuff wants to come up and get resolved. Anyway, pm me if u want to work a few issues out, as I have some training in this.
  19. Trance Portation

Thanks for the recommendations. Its right up my alley. I got the Josephine McCarthy book too. I realized I could get kindle app for my pc and just got them.
  20. entity issue, advice needed

I'm curious. What are the presenting symptoms, and what do you mean when the entity gives you hell?
  21. Visualization for Repairing Injured Tissues

My opinion on colors is this: if you want to make a color and associate it with feelings of healing, and sending qi to the area, then you can. Its optional. Some people perhaps were unconsciously forming colors in their deep unconscious mind while getting better from a sickness, and from then on, somehow associated the "getting better" with the color. In general, the type of people who go for colors for this or that, are weekend yoga class types, very superficial type of meditation. Personally I find green, because its the color of plant growth to me a nice color. But white I think is better for sending energy to a location. Its about the deep subconcious level associations, not the current defintion of a color category as thought by our programmed conscious minds. If you want to have a healing animal, you just create one. A disease fighting cat. How about visualize maggots wriggling and eating the infected area? This is much closer to the reality of T-cells and natural killer cells that fight disease, compared to a color. The sun is very healing, so can fire be. So is water. They all have colors.
  22. Hi, I'm a christian and my Kundalini is awakening. Please Help :)

Open yourself up to the destiny that you will be able to help others and love them as yourself. They way you prayed is so powerful, and obviously you were answered. So you can continue praying/practising in this way as this comes to fruition. It can take time, years, but this is how you can now orient your life without a particular guru or teacher. God is your teacher and will answer. You can believe in this. I have a friend who has taken the Christian path to extremely high levels of attainment. Keys are prayer, and DEEP surrender to God. She gets all the answers she needs. Now that your Kundalini has arisen your path is clear. You can use this website and others for information, specific experiences, because the eastern cultures have mapped it out better. For example, your wall cracking is pretty common as Cat mentions--stay clear from negative thinking while your body is transforming so much. Distrust any negative talking people, for they are speaking out of ignorance or fear--For me the bed springs would suddenly jolt. The outer auras are purifying, it somehow attracts or affects elements in metals (wall nails, bed springs) After 2 years, it didnt happen much any more except on rare occasion. Water sometimes get shifted too, sometimes water in a cup or bottle just jumps and splashes, surprising me out of meditation.
  23. What do you want for Christmas?

A shaman in red to show up at my door and we take a spiritual voyage.
  24. Six Yogas of Naropa

Winter rolls into town, everyone starts thinking of tummo. I have a book "Magic and Mystery in Tibet" by A. David Neel. Its facinating on its own, but also has some intructions and more info on tummo practitioners in Tibet. I was just reading it actually. One bit that stood out (and also a friend who has tummo already told me) is that its more of a natural extension of bliss energy, in that it warms the person naturally as the cold season comes. So in this case simply doing nauli or breath retention and fire visualization may lead you astray, where blissfull dantien is a better starting point.
  25. Bird people

Anybody run into anybody associated with ancient people somehow born from eagles, or something similar? A kind of lineage, not just a legend or hallucination, born into human form. And if so, what was this lineage about?
