That's a very tough one. If anyone gave you a recommendation, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a flurry of 'passionate' responses. Rather than go through a list of possibilities, ranging from ashrams and relatively hardcore hatha yoga derivatives, all the way to 'awakening light' which you can find in various forms on the Internet, I'd recommend that you take a deep breath and assess if you have the desire and energy to commit to some form of practice, or whether you are in more of a "want more information stage". Now even here, there are landmines upon landmines before you. There are a near-infinite number of crackpot systems, books and web sites out there. Probably one of the safest paths is awareness training such as Vipassana, or forms of Zen. I'm sure there are also gentle forms of Tao meditation that would also be in this category, though I'm not an educated person in the Tao, I'm here to learn more about Tao myself, to see how it maps to what I know. The problems in practice come in, when you start doing 'energy work' or more 'exotic' practices and do not have a teacher, which very few seem to have these days. No matter which path you go down, be it of a Buddhist, Yogic, or Tao path, I'd stick with the awareness training in the beginning, and make sure you have a support system. I'd avoid systems which are intimately associated with sexuality from day one, or which are of the western Hermetic traditions, if you have no background. I'd really welcome other people responding to your question as well. PS: we are all awakened to some degree, or we'd be stones. The fact that you are asking means something is stirring in you. Love, Kevin

Heat as an ingreident in filling the Dan Tien
kevincann replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Huh. I have spent 50 years as a hermit, and here I crawl out and hear others having extremely similar perceptions to my own. Yes, naturally the sushumna is silver, starting in phase 2. Yes, naturally you feel/see golden bubbles. The 'golden bubbles' are 'maya burning off', and also the 'soul' the little temporary vehicle is in fact, of a golden nature. This is why people are said to be 'illuminated' at a certain point; the 'soul' becomes most vibrant, right before it burns away forever. Now you got me on the purple cloud; I have no experience or book knowledge or 'feeling' or 'sight' on that one. Might you explain? Love, Kev -
There is much to be said for your approach. The body is indeed a miniature microcosm of the macrocosm; but when we are 'over fastidious' with our thoughts, emotions and practices, we put a subtle tension on our entire system, and this kills progress. We also become 'spiritual' instead of 'alive'. The ancient yoga masters first derived their practices by watching nature; many of the yoga practices that are done today (sambhavi, mulabandha, bastrika etc) are things the body found itself doing naturally. I love the quote about the spirit returning home. It is extremely well said. Love, Kev

I've noticed that nearly all traditions warn against letting the instruments of liberation become the 'golden shackles' which keep your prisoner forever. I'm one to talk actually. My life's work has been to document spiritual cosmology and it's relationship to both psychology and physics. After 51 years of this, I'm coming to a point in my own path, to simply enjoy riding in the car, and not stress about every last engineering diagram. There is no right or wrong path; no right or wrong knowledge; no right or wrong tradition. There is only the path, and it takes care of itself. Yes, it's all the same 'under the hood'. But we don't need enlightenment police. Sometimes it's the 'very wrongest of things' which has the power to bring us home; this is the very essence of Kundalini for example; the power of delusion is the gateway to liberation. Love, Kev

Heat as an ingreident in filling the Dan Tien

Mike, if what you say is true, and it seems that way, as your symptoms are the universal ones, you are at a difficult crossroads. Perfect semen retention would help you immeasurably. Those vital essences buttress the nervous system, and would save you, they are in fact a superior source of fuel for your brain and nervous system. You are experiencing 220 volts in christmas lighting. I've read various letters from people who sent pleas for help to Gopi Krishnas foundation, and their brains were burning and they were insane. Not a one of them would take the advice which might have saved their lives. (because they were insane!) You are not there yet, apparently, but I'd hate to see that happen to you. Love, Kev -
My observation: A 'full chakra' causes a rubbing effect between the flow within this time strata and the core essence within this chakra, which is a tiny silver thread going back towards the 'core', which is in a different time strata. Chakras are 'time portals', which provide access to different snapshots of time, catching the One pattern at different stages of unfolding, since the original spanda or primal desire in formlessness unfolds into all that we know and see and are. When the yang energy you are filling the chakra with starts to pass through the 'portal', then there is a flow of the yin energy from the other side of the portal into our system. When this mutual flow occurs, which I call the pattern of the seven twistings, then and only then may the chakra considered to be 'open'. Love, Kev

Heat as an ingreident in filling the Dan Tien
kevincann replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Could you please elaborate? Anything whatsoever. Kundalini Yoga where i originally hailed from, does not recognize dan tien storage chambers; but they are definitely there. All the manic focus on the spine in Kundalini yoga and all the manic focus on hot energy. Frankly, I was miserable 99% of my life, until this massive cold in specific spots started arriving within me, then this feeling of mixing in the silent chamber. This was not the result of anything i did or knew or even asked for; it was a result of the cool, silver kundalini flowing conspicuously, and I took notes. Just FYI, I took notes for over 6 months, so this was certainly not a fleeting 'spiritual experience' this was like cool blood flowing in my body. I would love to learn more about the Tao perspective. Love, Kev -
Heat as an ingreident in filling the Dan Tien
kevincann replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
It is not commonly discussed, but the most important 'Kundalini energy' is not the hot one at all! It's the 'cold one'. Not understanding this is at the root of most of the problems people have with Kundalini. When Kundalini first awakens, it's always felt as the hot current, because what people do is irritate the hell out of the 'sleeper' with their hot sexual energy until She stirs. Of course the first thing she does is enhance the existing heat; like a furry kitty laying in the Sun. So it's all heat, heat, heat and little living beings fry their nervous system and do all this melodrama. It's all the same to Her; she respects the limited free will of her Children; if they wish to be in a sauna of their own creation, She won't stop them. Now the 'sleeper' also has a cold component, and yes, the entire goal of the exercise is to allow the two aspects of the sleeper to mix together in ecstasy. Once this happens everything changes. I call these energies the gold kundalini and the silver kundalini. The pre-mixings can certainly occur in various places, such as the upper middle and lower dan tien. The lower dan tien is particularly important for these pre-mixings; you feel a massive cold there, not the usual heat, as the silver kundalini takes the last leg, before entering the hidden chamber, the silent center, the mysterious gate, the bridal suite. It would be very beneficial if the 'other half' of the Kundalini process and the final mixing practice were written up. Unfortunately to understand what is happening with the 'sleeper' it takes a good chunk of spiritual cosmology and the psychology of kundalini and awakenings, so just jamming out the final mixing instructions isn't that helpful. You need both horses in attendance, if you wish to hold the parade. But I'd be very interested if some Tao master showed up and described what I shared from a Tao perspective. That would be pure awesomeness! Love, Kev -
I was taking Mike at his word that Kundalini is indeed involved. The reason that I did this, is because why not? And also Mike did use a specific term (piercing the heart) which is a specific phrase with a specific meaning. Now many people get all excited about various phenomenon and think that their 'Kundalini is rising'. It's certainly possible that it is not, that in fact this is simple energy exhaustion. Even just hormone and neurochemical exhaustion severely weakens the body. Yes, it is possible to 'beat off yourself to death'. It does take years and years of practice though. The primary focus being on sex and not on health is what concerns me the most; not whether it is kundalini or energy exhaustion or just hormone/neurochemical exhaustion. Some strange imbalance is racking Mike's body, possibly ruining his health for a lifetime, and Mike's primary concern is how often he can get a boner. I mean no disrespect brother. I just feel empathy. I had a terrible, terrible sexual imbalance of my own for years. -Kev

Don't be sorry! Wow, you just sent me more energy than my wife used to, when we still had relations. I'm so happy that you have figured everything out to your satisfaction. I love you man. Kev

In Kundalini yoga traditions the point is made, that the sexual energy is a dual-purpose energy. It's also the drain plug. If you don't do anything else with it, excess energy gets converted into sexual energy. Now Kundalini is a hoglet. She not only grabs every last ounce of sexual energy if She can, She converts subtle biological essences such as hormones, neurotransmitters, and various other things She harvests from the nervous system and body. These components are required to bolster the physical nervous system, to prevent the energy component from frying your brain. If Kundalini goes far enough and you fight it, and blast semen all over the room, and if She's stubborn enough, you will eventually feel burning all over your body; you will experience brain damage. I'm not joking. I've helped answer letters written by people who have done this to themselves. Hell, I almost did this to myself when I was much younger. Now, I must say, you are triply screwed, from your perspective. Once Kundalini pierces your heart, she is unstoppable. Just like you want sex, She does too; and she gets her Freak on, by boning 'Shiva' in your heart and your brain. That is as low in your energy system He will go to meet Her, until stage 2 or stage 3 of an awakening. The other responders are right; you can pile on heavy food, nasty meat, etc. If you are really hard up for sex and want to spit in Her face (that's your business, it's not my business), you can at least practice semen retention and whole body orgasms. You can eventually get where you can have lots of sex and still retain semen. This will also build up your sex drive. There's also some good Tantra out there you may want to read. But she will still steal every last bit of both the energy and the physical essences that she can. You might only be able to have sex once a week. In a grim way I find this funny. There are tens of millions of people in India that would cut off their left nut to get what you don't want. I know a hundred Americans probably, that would give away their house to the poor to have what you don't want. I myself obey Her implicitly. Good luck my friend, Kev

The 'chakra system' functions in two different modes: 1) Normal mode. The so-called chakras (there is a lot of back story here) operate in an erratic fashion, except during spiritual practices. Also, contrary to a lot of misinformation out there, in 'normal mode' the chakras have only limited access to the larger reality. 2) Transcendent mode. Transcendent mode occurs after both the gold AND the silver modes of Kundalini rework the entire energy system and meet up in the so-called 'silent center of Kundalini', also known as the One Cavity of the Mysterious Gate. After this happens, all the chakras become 'open' to the larger world, are in harmony with each other, and semen retention becomes effortless. And all of this.. that and a dollar fifty get you a cup of coffee and a few other things. It's just a beginning. This transcendent mode is at the first felt as 'all the chakras' coming together, and is sometimes referred to as the opening of the 8th chakra. Those other 'non-physical' chakras if you wish to use such terminology, are only accessible after the process discussed above, and ultimately don't matter. They too work themselves out in the wash. Really, there is no point in going 'ga ga' over 'chakras', as we all know. The most important things to know, the most important things to be, have nothing to do with 'chakras'. And as a matter of fact, I'd say that lots of people experience all that 'under the hood stuff' without even bothering to notice or document any of it. Noting will trap one in the mud faster, than fretting about this kind of stuff. It all works itself out automatically as necessary. Love, Kev

The Significance of Free Will in Spirituality and How It Relates to Popular Ideas of No Agent
kevincann replied to Lucky7Strikes's topic in General Discussion
If we were both the One beyond all manifestation, and one of the many sparks of the One acting in concert to produce manifestation: then we would be both the master and the slave; the maker of will and the recipient of will. We'd also have nobody to blame but ourselves, for all the pain and confusion we have created together. We'd see that the 'finger pointed' at 'God' was in fact one finger pointing away and three pointing back at us; with a thumb pointing straight up for the F* of it. -
People are like deer; they are quite shy. If you approach them with guns blazing, then they quite rightfully skitter away. You and I and everyone responds this way. Even brash people don't like to be pinned to the wall to discuss ancient Irish whalebone knitting practices for 2 hours. Well, not usually ;-) But if we keep our obnoxious 'wisdom' to ourselves and interact with people the way they wish to be interacted with; namely to genuinely listen to them, and to genuinely answer them with their own framework; and in fact don't go around thinking that they actually need 'your wisdom', then one might be delighted and surprised, to find one of these shy creatures suddenly in your presence and nibbling at some goodies that the Universe placed in your hand, which is now open and not threatening: no longer clenched into zealot's fist. Love, Kev

Friend, I'd say that 8 out of 10 born yogis and 'holy men/women' are high-functioning autistics. I'd say that 100% of these people are both with an active Kundalni from birth. Those autistic genes are the ones which Gopi Krishna wrote about. I have collaborated with several of the Gopi Krishna foundations on this, although this info hasn't been seen much daylight yet. High Functioning Autism and Kundalini are joined at the hip. More and more autistics coming into this word; more and more cases of spontaneous awakening in the world.. Of course kundalini awakenings are a possibility for many people autistic or not, once you know the mechanics of it. You my friend are in the golden kundalini phase; you are drunk on it. But if you are happy there is nothing wrong with that. It can be a wonderful part of the process. Others choose the silver phase. Others take it even further. I'm happy for you my fellow autistic brother. Kev

Using Ibogaine or LSD to terminate kundalini ?
kevincann replied to mike 134's topic in General Discussion
Kundalini awakens when the 'sleeper' awakens. The 'sleeper', or your core reality awakens when you live with passion or otherwise do something very intriguing that causes 'pure awareness' to 'look your way'. All the secret techniques for forcing kundalini awake really amount to either pissing off or enticing the 'sleeper' to awaken. By default the 'sleeper' would rather chase Dakinis in paradise, rather than deal with the painful reality that 'it's' 'rear end' is stuck smack in the middle of matter. So if you want to stop Kundalni, there is only one way: Become boring. Become very boring, and after a while the 'sleeper' will start slumbering again. I know this doesn't sound 'mystical' or 'wise' or what-not. Well I could drone through 100 pages of secret/arcane Kundalini lore (read some of my other posts on the internet or any of my book manuscripts and you'll believe me). Or you could just take my word for it: become boring. -Kev -
The much maligned ego... We all play this game, where we think that we are 'making progress' by 'shrinking the ego'. As a matter of fact, 'spiritual progress' is often equated with the 'shrinking of ego'. Yoga makes this huge fuss about 'the ego', without even understanding it. One of the things I like about non-yoga traditions, is that they do not necessarily demonize the ego, and in fact some give 'the ego' it's due. The fact is, that it's the Self which generates 'the ego'. Not only is it not despised, it is mandatory. Not just for survival. Not just for 'lower plane necessities'. As a matter of fact, 'the ego' is the main tool which the Self uses to accomplish a great many things. Now something that usually happens with spiritual seekers, is that they 'eat spiritual energy', which puffs up 'the ego'; the very 'ego' they have been pretending not to have so much of, as you know, we all wish to be seen by our peers in the most positive light. It's this 'subtle loathing' of 'the ego' which makes it the very monster that it actually is NOT. I thought I'd share this thing which many of us know, in case it might be of benefit. Love, Kev

What I have observed is that awareness needs matter of some grade (gross or 'spiritual') to give it something to work with; i.e to become consciousness. When everything happens at once (the fullness inherent in pure awareness), there is no communication, no wisdom, no love, no joy. This is why the "One substance" spins off all those sparks; that vast mirror-ball sea of little diluted copies of Itself, the vast sea of Atman; the primordial substance made possible by the cyclic arcs of time. Consciousness is awareness struggling to become whole. This is my observation. Kev

Thanks my dear friend. I've been posting up a storm over at AYP, especially in the Kundalini support forums (both AYP and non-AYP). People are begging for help and I'm offering help. I'm offering to carry them to the exit from their difficulties and nobody is interested, either in the forums or in email. I'd talk to them on the phone if they wanted. Hell, I'd fly to their house and help them in some circumstances --- crickets. When I was having Kundalni problems, I'd have crawled across a mile of broken glass for one good sentence from someone who knew what they are talking about. I'm not joking or exaggerating. Social conditioning and self-delusion are truly powerful forces <shakes head>. Of course we all knew that. I suppose the fetters would be off in this forum, if anyone gets me talking. LOL. Kev

Love the cat! Thanks for the welcome. I probably won't start many topics, I prefer to join conversations in progress. I've learned that what is important to me is seldom important to other people; everyone's cognitive machinery is different. These days the 'Buddha' could stroll down main street and nobody would notice. Of course if 'jesus' strode down main street, someone would probably use their second amendment rights on him. As they say in the alien invasion movies - 'welcome to planet earth!'. Earth - the planet where advanced beings come wearing Kevlar, if they know what is good for them; LOL. Kev
