The above question is great. I think it has been answered before on this thread but it bears repeating.

Anyone ever tried the One Thousand Buddha Hands mudra qigong dvd by Master Liu He, or any of her qigong dvds?
-
With those great experiences from SFQ I would consider having a long distance session from Chunyi Lin to really move things along. If a simple method like SFQ can produce those kinds of experiences why bother seeking a seminar to learn a different qigong method? From my trying many different qigong methods over the years I have come to the conclusion that good experiences with sensing the qi flow come more from who is doing the qigong than which qigong method the person is doing. It all depends on the condition of your nervous system. I taught Spring Forest Qigong at work 4 days a week for 8 years and I had some nice sensations of Qi but nothing at the level that you have had.

I just made a note for me to never ever travel to Manila! I wear earplugs when sleeping with my wife who snores, but it sounds like earplugs would not be of much use in Manila. I am sure that Sifu Terry might comment on your situation.

In Transcendental Meditation we are taught that noise is no barrier to meditation. Even in a noisy market place you can still think, and if you can think, you can meditate. I proved that when on a TM course in France and while meditating dynamite charges were going off on the mountain where we were. I think same thing applies to qigong. You just come back to focus on your breathing or your movements, etc. Yes, much better to practice in quietness, but the show must go on when we can't. I have to meditate at times or do qigong with several exotic birds screeching, medical alarms going off, puppies running around barking, loud movies playing. It's about where I put my focus. Making the best of a situation. When I was instructed in TM meditation someone was hammering really loudly during my first time doing this new meditation. Pretty ironic.

No one can wash away our karmic lessons. But we can go thru them without out undo suffering. To do this requires a physical rewiring of the nervous system and this is exactly what so many in the Oneness movement of Sri Bhagavan in southern India are experiencing as the Oneness energy is unique and has the ability to quiet the mind chatter/ego/neurotic social conditioning-unconscious influences of the past by effecting the parietal lobes and increasing the effect of the frontal lobe so that we then can witness events in the hear and now instead of projecting our past conditioning onto events. When in this state permanently it is called being Awakened. Then suffering bounces off of us instead of leaving imprints which block our flow of energy. Oneness works like this for most people and they now have a 100 percent success rate of becoming awakened when someone spends a few weeks at their Oneness University. It all sounds like a dream come true but I am the exception to the rule. I never felt anything from Oneness in th e10 years I have been involved with it. So I am hoping that working with the healer Ooi Kean Hin will change that so I can then become sensitive to the Oneness deeksha.

A good friend of mine tried either Monk Holding Pearl or Monk Holding Peach, I can't remember which, as his first Flying Phoenix meditation that he ever tried and right from his first session he reported feeling this ball of energy between his hands which was spinning rapidly on its own. He has had other similar good experiences with feeling moving energy sensations from different qigong methods but he said that he cannot understand why he just cannot get motivated to ever do qigong regularly. And here I am after 10 years still waiting to feel something other than chi in the hands. Seems unfair, LOL.

Definitely poor communication from the WBBM people at times including some questions being answered and others ignored and some being answered in some kind of manner which made the answers cryptic instead of just answering the question in plain language. Not what is expected from a lineage holder. I think Terry Dunn does it how it is supposed to be done in every aspect of his work. So then when we do business with someone who cannot function at that high standard we are naturally disappointed. I have seen some really good looking qigong dvds but at times the instructor just does not know how to teach sufficiently. No excuse for blowing a breath percentage, pun unintended .

I always used to enjoy the meditation that Sifu Terry has dubbed The Sleeper, or The Big Sleep. Since I would do it right before going to sleep I often would only be half awake and would doze off for brief periods and find that my arms were still moving correctly on their own to perform the repetitions. I also enjoyed all of the quick meditations on Volume 5 because I thought the hand and arm movements just seemed so cool looking.

I would be curious to see an informal survey of which Flying Phoenix Chi Kung meditation is each person's favorite in terms of the benefits it brings or any sensations or experiences that people enjoy from one meditation in particular.

I recently read something online where Jeff said that his greatest teacher was Master Wu. That is the same master of Teresa Yeung of Toronto, Canada. He also mentioned another master but I forgot who that was. During an interview with Lama Tatrapa, Jeff stated that he has masters come to his seminars and that he watches them like a hawk to learn their concepts. He said he does not do this to steal their methods, but just to learn. I did his level one qigong dvd for a brief while some years ago and I did not think the methods created much qi compared to other methods that I have done and there was too many repetitions of each one. I understand that he has redone his level one and it no longer has too many reps.

You might want to ask Eric which herbs would enhance your practice of qigong.
-
No, he did not since that is not a question that I ever asked him. You could ask him that question however. Eric is trained in the oldest system of health care, Ayur Veda, so he sees things in those terms so most of his reports about what he sees from various qigong methods are reported in terms of the effects that a qigong method has on the chakras, and the organs of the body. The dan tians of TCM are not the same as chakras.

Yes, I started to relearn them but just could not find the time to fit them in, was juggling too many things. But the brief time that I did them I did not notice any sensations from them. I wanted to do them again like I did a few years ago because of the wonderful benefits that Eric Isen saw them doing. I think it was a matter of just never doing them for a long enough period.

Readers of this blog already know that I am not the most sensitive person when it comes to feeling subtle energies. Even so, I can attest to what Sifu Terry states about noticing the differences in energies between TTP and Flying Phoenix Chi Kung. I did volumes 1,2, was learning 3, did volume 5 and a few from vol. 7 for about 2 years daily. I recently was doing the first 4 exercises of TTP plus the Shen Candle meditation and then the Earth meditation as taught to me by one of Lew K. Share's early students from the early 1970's when he began learning from him at age 18 and over 40 years later he still does TTP regularly. In fact, I have communicated with 4 old students of this system and they all are still doing this method for the past 3-4 decades and speak highly of it as a treasure. I am able to experience the difference in how the energies feel between FP and TTP. It is just one more example of how unique FP energy feels compared to any other type of qigong, and I have tried probably 30 different qigong methods, some are considered to be the most powerful and most effective methods that are known. My own subjective experience is that none of them feel as good to me as Flying Phoenix energy. Some give me a stronger feeling of chi in between my hands but the other methods do not create for me the feeling of being in a cloud of energy that surrounds parts of my body. I stopped doing TTP because of the time constraints due to my family circumstances. Also, there is a more physical, callisthenic effort required doing TTP which I do not enjoy as I really disliked high school gym class, LOL. In contrast, FP movements are smooth and gentle flowing that seem to just glide on their own. But I have been told the benefits from TTP make it worth doing.

I might have already posted in the past what I am going to say about Sifu Terry's answers in the above post. There is no qigong teacher online or in person that I know of or ever heard of who goes to the trouble to provide such detailed, exhaustive, educational, enlightening and informative vital replies to questions about the energy arts. Many of his answers are discourses. We cannot even imagine the gem that his forth coming book will be.

Yi Gong - I would like to know what this spontaneous qigong stye is like
tao stillness replied to Oneironaut's topic in General Discussion
I am very insensitive to most subtle energies from qigong. I usually can only feel sensations in my hands after doing qigong for 10 years, 2-4 times a day and trying about 80 different methods. However, when I learned Yi Gong from Jenny Lamb dvd, the spontaneous movements happened quickly even though it did not happen consistently, it was hit and miss. There is no fooling yourself when you feel the qi build up and then your legs and hands start to move on their own. It is a blast when that happens. But during the sessions when it does not happen it sure is boring sitting there in the specific posture waiting. I stopped doing the method because it was inconsistent in when it would give results. Very easy to learn and do but the most powerful method that my medical clairvoyant ever tested in his career. -
Now that I just read that Soaring Crane Qigong was channeled by Prof. Chen's master and it originates from the Blue Star, I am considering also learning Soaring Crane Qigong after I have learned Awakening Light Gong. We have plenty of certified Soaring Crane Qigong teachers in Baltimore. Anyone know where the Blue Star is located? LOL

Yes, I was doing the Yi Ren postures that I learned from the 2 lessons on my own for several days and was not feeling much chi and I did not enjoy that the manual said to do some of the movements for 20 minutes each. That was a turnoff along with the fact that they were just not enjoyable to perform and I realized I was forcing myself to do them. I then cancelled my next lesson and put away the manual and DVD and decided there is no joy for me following that path so it is not what I am seeking. I am now pinning my hopes on learning Awakening Light Gong as I think anyone would who reads some of the descriptions of this method. This method was brought to the USA from Professor Chen who is the lineage holder for Soaring Crane Qigong. Today I was reading her autobiography where she states that her master eventually told her that he did not create Soaring Crane. It was channeled by him. I have read of others claiming to have also channeled qigong methods, so this is rare but not unique to the Soaring Crane master. My wife without any knowledge of chi kung and never having seen any qigong performed actually saw in her inner vision a well known Tibetan deity teaching her these movements which she then demonstrated to her and it was so obvious that she had been shown a qigong set. So many potent qigong systems out there to choose from. Makes my head spin at times. And some of the potent ones do lead to disappointment for various reasons, such as Yi Ren.

Beautiful and one of a kind movements there for sure, Sifu Terry. I think I speak for others on this forum when I say that I would love for you to post exactly what you are experiencing internally during that routine.

Cultivating Chi/Energy for the novice
tao stillness replied to Phoenixrising's topic in General Discussion
Hello Phoenix Rising, I can understand your situation as last Oct. I retired as a psychotherapist/psychologist after a 30 year career. Picking up negative energy is real. Along the way I found energy devices to wear which were supposed to protect from such energies. I also did qigong 2-4 times a day. I would suggest a qigong method that installs an etheric chi generator in your lower dan tian which works 24/7 and gets rid of negative chi while at the same time generating healthy chi. The only2 known qigong methods that do this are Falun Dafa and George Xu's Wu Wei Qigong dvd. I felt the chi generator being installed, so I know this is real. -
Is Anyone Traveling to Tai Shan, Shandong...
tao stillness replied to 林愛偉's topic in Daoist Discussion
Very interesting that you mention Tai Shan as I have been told that was my name around 1540's during a past life when I was studied the martial arts at a temple in China and my name then was Tai Shan Li. -
Hello Sifu Terry, After watching the above video I am wondering if it takes a photographic like memory to be able to learn all of those movements for video 4 in your Flying Phoenix series. My short term visual memory learning disorder was one reason that I had to stop doing Flying Phoenix. It was just taking me too long to memorize so many movements and then when I was able to do so, there was then the next video in the series to learn. I found that to be stressful during the learning stage for each video.

I called the headquarters of Yi Ren Qigong and asked if all of their teachers do qi transmission when teaching the method. I was told that different teachers may do different things. I think time will tell as I continue the lessons to see if it is potent without having intended qi transmissions during the lessons.
