  1. Pan Gu Shen Gong

I am originally from Chicago, Albany Park neighborhood and then Skokie. That seems so far from my inner cultivation lifestyle that I adopted 40 yrs ago after leaving Chicago when my education was complete. Anyway, I learned Pangu Shengu from their correspondence course which consists of a manual, DVD lecture/instruction and the CD of Master Ou which leads you thru the complete practice so you do not even have to count for yourself or even memorize the password. It is great. He sends the initiation energy to you the first time you do the form. My medical clairvoyant can see the effects of anything, energy work, supplement, you name it, just by knowing the name of it. He said this is a very powerful system, opening up the 3 main channels in the Vedic system of India which result in Kundalini rising and this is the energy that results in healing the body. He has no idea what the form looks like so it is very interesting that we rotate the hands on the 2 channels off of our center line and then the center of the chest. These are where the ancient drawings of the 3 main nadis of the Vedic system reside. Very similar to Microcosmic Orbit path but he said Pangu is not the same as MCO.

Beware when anyone takes someone else's teaching and "modifies" it. Pangu Shengong needs initiation qi transmitted by Master Ou or any of his trained teachers for it to work as it was intended to work. Pay the fee to get the course the way it is meant to be taught. Everything about Pangu Shengong is simple except for the benefits, they are profound.
  3. Why on earth would one practice more than one system?

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi used to teach us that "the mind always goes to a field of greater charm." This is the souce of all desire. Not to eradicate natural desire but to reach fulfillment of desires and the only thing that can fulfill desires according to the Vedas is Pure Consciousness. Transcending thoughts and feelings and being with Pure Awarenss. I have found degrees of this inner fulfillment from TM, but never from chi kung. I do chi kung for health and spiritual reasons. So I agree with some of the above posts which believe that the chasing of systems, which I also am guilty of doing, is due to something missing inside. I don't seek more food after a satisfying meal. So when I become obsessed with finding the perfect chi kung mehtod for myself, I realize that my meditation for whatever reason is not taking me deep enough. And I have been in that state of mind for the past 3 years. Similar to the drug user chasing the high.
  4. What is your favorite Qigong System and Why?

I have done at least 12 different chi kung styles during the past seven years, Flying Phoenix and Sunn Yee Gong from Grandmaster Doo Wai family lineage yielded the most chi, as did Falun Gong. Unfortunately, all of those methods require hours per day to get all of that chi. And there are never ending levels/DVDS with Flying Phoenix and Sunn Yee Gong with tons of postures to do. So they are just not practical if one is employed and also has some other interests in life. I recently was told that Pangu Shengong/Pangu Mystical Qigong takes just 20 minutes, is easy to learn but has the most powerful experience of chi that some people have experienced compared to other styles. It takes just one hour to learn. So I am now learning Pangu Mystical Qigong as my main practice. Practical and poweful with many healing benefits claimed. I watched the instruction lecture and form teaching and I am ready to start it. Just a great investment of low cost and high yield of health and spiritual benefits from some powerful chi with its universal source via sun and moon energy.

This is to Lloyd, Fu-Dog, I was just looking at the SYG blog and on July 31 you asked why FP breath percentages are no longer than 5. I have a GMDW meditation that predates FP but is still from his family lineage and it has 8 breath percentages. Doing that many is a meditation in itself! Steve
  6. Bak Fu Pai's Sunn Yee Gong-Q&A

Sifu Garry, I want to make sure I am doing the SYG level 2 standing meds correctly. I have been doing all of the meds in succession but only using the breathing sequence at the start of doing the first posture, then doing the other postures and when done with the last posture I end with 3 breaths. Correct or not correct? In other words, if I am doing all of the standing postures in a row at one session, I do not need to do the breathing sequence all over again for each of the meds/ And on the SYG level 1 sitting meds during the one looking like Monk Gazing at the Moon you do not have your hands at eye level, they are lower, closer to the mouth, is this correct? Because it seems as in Flying Phoenix that the hands should be at eye level?

I will not participate in the poetry contest due to not having enough right brain hemisphere working.

The speed is handled by the counting of the breath to 10 for the percentages. The depth of the breathing comes to me from being relaxed instead of rushed when I do the 3 breaths before the breathing sequence. At times I catch myself rushing the breathing to get to the posture and thus I am not relaxed and the breathing then is not slow and deep.
  9. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

To the breathing comments I want to say my experience has been that the more relaxed I am doing the breathing sequences, the slower I breathe and then the deeper the breaths are. I do not try to breathe deeply at all. Relaxed, slow breathing makes them deeper on its own.

Seasons Greetings Sifu Terry, That was great to see confirmation of the effects of wild oregano oil at work. My apologies for not proof reading and thus I did not state it was the oil I used and not the fresh plant. Eric, the medical intuitive, has Rx wild oregano oil for colds and flu, etc. I put the drops in gelatin capsules since I am not fond of the taste of pizza when ill. Seasons Greetings as we continue to ascend to Awakening in the coming new year! Steve

I was around someone all day and night last Saturday who suddenly came down with pretty bad cold symptoms. I went home the next day and took wild oregano and did my chi kung. A few nights later I came down with the chills so I was sure I caught her bug from 3 days prior. So I took more wild oregano, did chi kung, and used my Master John Douglas Cold and Flu Repair disc, some kind of energy device that he never tells what it is made of. I woke up in the morning with normal body temperature.

I do think moving in the direction of mastering any art or skill does require one to have a strong streak of perfectionism in their makeup. And chi kung is no exception. There is no way to become proficient at this internal art without striving to do it right. And when I view any of the DVDs that Sifu Terry has produced, or when I read any of his posts or emails, they all contain many markers of a job done more than well done. Setting the bar higher and higher while settling for nothing less than perfection. Anyone willing to video themselves and then compare it to the dvds is someone who is going to do it right and eventually capture the elusive Tao. Kudos Aure'lien for challenging the rest of us to be proficient.

In terms of not noticing differences between meditations I can only say that for me over time different meds resulted in subtle differences of the energy. The key being over time. I also know that different people feel energy differently due to energy blockages, individual conditions of the nervous system, etc. I happen to not be that sensitive to subtle energies so for me to feel chi flow in my hands has been a nice experience. What I experience is what I experience. And the slower I go, the more chi I do feel in my hands and near my body as the hand movements approach the body on the moving meds. The numbness in the legs was with me for awhile in the beginning until my legs got used to that position. But I don't feel chi traveling within the body or anything like that. Sometimes there is tingling in the third eye, but that is about it. I know that people have dropped chi kung because their experiences did not meet expectations. I just prefer to drop the expectations and keep the chi kung practice. Also, it might be good to have a private Skype session with Sifu Terry who might have some ways of correcting some things for you so you could rule out any mistakes in doing the meds.
  14. What became of Qigong Master Yan Xin?

Let is please hear from those who actually do this qigong style as opposed to those only offering opinions.

Last night before going to sleep I did the volume 7 Big Sleeper, 50-20-10 at a much slower pace than I have tried before. It was worth going to bed later as a result of the extra time this took because I could feel this tangible sort of solid energy field the closer my hand got to my body with each repetition. The hand could almost just hang on the pillow of energy. Last week an energy worker told me that the health aura is located about 4-6" away from the body. When I heard this it explained why when my hands come down close to the body doing FP meditations, the chi feels stronger than when they are out further. I then began to wonder if this is one way that FP meds promote health by bringing the chi from the hands into the health aura? Or, are the hands feeling the chi stronger close to the body because the FP meds put so much extra chi into the health aura?

Hello Sifu Terry, Following your advice I began going back to doing Bending the Bow before doing the seated meds. So this morning I did BTB and then MSW 90 80 50 20, the energizing one. Usually, I would start my chi kung routine with the Energizer but this time I did the standing med BTB first and it sure made a difference in how much more chi I could feel in my hands when I did the seated MSW med. I look forward to having a Skype lesson with you as soon as I can steal time to learn vol. 3. Steve

Last month I did Flying Phoenix literally on top of a sand dune every morning in front of the Atlantic Ocean on a vacation at the Outter Banks, NC. I have to admit that I never saw the dunes moving. And when I do my FP movements slower than slow, I have to admit that at times it feels like my hands are not moving.
  18. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

My understanding from reading this thread about the breathing sequence is that it moves the chi in a certain pattern automatically. This happens internally and I think people that are very experienced doing chi kung can feel this flow in the parts of the body. The rest of us usually just feel chi moving in the hands or maybe a tingle or so in the forehead. Speaking for myself, of course .
  19. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I wanted to comment on how slow we should go while doing FP. I only recall "do the movements at the speed of a shifting sand dune." I think this is in some cases slower than is demonstrated on the dvds because Sifu Terry has to get all of the instruction in but has time and space constraints on those videos so he has to go faster to get it all in on time. Especially with volume 7 we should be going at slowest possible pace as that is evident when doing those meditations. The chi just feels so much thicker as your hands cut through the air when you move them slower than slow.

How long does it take to do 18 reps of BTB? I honestly have been afraid to look at the clock for that, LOL. I would rather not know since it is lengthy. That is great news about a PBS series down the road sometime. That should result in Flying Phoenix spreading its wings and really soaring. Compare that to Lee Holden's PBS series on chi kung. I tried his dvd from that series just one time as it seemed more like calisthenics.

To address the post about chi kung being enhanced by group practice I can confirm that. At work we do a chi kung group daily, it is not FP because our group members would not be able to do the breathing sequence. But the energy is stronger when the group is larger. I feel this is in my hands.

In spite of the misunderstandings at time on this blog I am impressed how people handle the disputes eventually like gentlemen. Considering how much values and standards seem to have lessened over the decades since I have been on this planet, I am now wondering if gentleman is still in use, or if it's original meaning is known by many? My real point is that I have been on some other blogs and the way people treat each other there is really juvenile and anger filled with battles between egos and showing off knowledge, etc. So this Flying Phoenix thread is really well done with respect being prevalent.

Fire and water alchemy for breath sequence could use some detailed explanation please as it sounds quite interesting.

Hi Sifu Garry, What makes me want to do the static meds on 690 AD is the strong feeling of chi that I feel in my hands which is much more than I feel from any other Doo Wai lineage chi kung. Also, my medical clairvoyant saw this great energy coming from it, balancing all parts of my brain. So I am very curious why I would be cautioned not to use it. I have never done it regularly because of lack of time and I have only done it once since Sifu Terry suggested that you and he do not think it is a good idea to use that DVD. I am open to hearing what is wrong with doing those meds. Steve Recent research done by the TM movement has shown that all of the hymns of the Rig Veda have direct healing effects on various parts of the mind and the body. Certain hymns correspond to specific body parts and now do healing with sound whispering chants from the vedas. It's all in the vibration, Veda means Pure Knowledge which has been cognized by Seers when the earth is created and pure. It is not man made knowledge. That is what I have been taught. Vibration/energy just like chi kung.

Thank you for your profound comments to my previous post Sifu Terry. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi would agree with you about scriptures. He said that the description of a strawberry could never give the person hearing about it the flavor of the strawberry. Consciousness is a direct experience that cannot be transmitted via words. I think the Tao Te Ching also makes that same point over and over again. The scriptures serve as sign posts to identify where one is on the path to higher states of consciousness. I look forward to your tour, hoping it includes the East coast. I am still pondering the warning from Sifu Garry and you about not doing the 690 AD chi kung meditations. Since other people on this blog have this 690 AD dvd I would be grateful if you could state the reasons why we should not be using it. Steve
