To Deltrus and others looking to mirror any Flying Phoenix videos for learning. The easiest and quickest way is to play the video in your computer by using the free VLC software download and go to the dashboard to select Tools, then press video effects, then press geometry and then check the transform box and check flip horizontally and then check save and you will then have a mirrored version playing. As it plays in mirrored version press the red record button and you will have it stored in your VLV library under My Videos and it will play in the mirrored format. Before someone on here posted about VLC I used to have to put my laptop screen in front of a mirror to try to learn new qigong forms. It was too much work having to reach over and press pause so many times that it prevented me from learning so I would just put away the dvd. But with mirroring it is now easy to learn.

Make your learning of volume 3 easier by using the free software media player VLC which allows you to flip the image from the dvd horizontally so that you and Sifu are moving in the same direction. That saves stress from the brain having to figure out left from right and going in the opposite direction of the instructor. VLC also allows you to slow down the speed if you want to in order to see more clearly the nuances of the movements. Plus you can record from the disc and keep the video on your computer with VLC. Makes for less stressful learning experience. Before being told about VLC I discarded some of my qigong dvds because I just could not transpose the movements in my mind in order to follow along. The confusion was too stressful so I just gave up further attempts at learning them.

I was looking over some of my older chi kung testing reports from the Ayurvedic medical clairvoyant, Eric Isen, and how some of them fit my recent desire to do qigong for development of Shen/spiritual/consciousness growth. For Flying Phoenix Chi Kung volume 7, meditation number 4, breathing sequence 60-70-40-5, he found for me: "7th chakra enlivenment and opening with golden light flooding the area. Also, Pineal gland strengthened." So with those encouraging benefits forecast I quickly relearned advanced meditation 4 last night. If I remember correctly, this one is nicknamed the Waker Upper and should not be done late at night because it creates energy in the brain. Several years ago when I was doing that I verified that is true and lost some sleep. Looking forward to again adding Flying Phoenix back to my daily routine of Chi Kung for health and spiritual development. The Monk Gazing at the Moon position of meditation 4 resulted in very strong sensation of Chi and there is the temptation to keep holding that one before moving on to the next position. But, as usual for Flying Phoenix, the slower you go, the stronger the sensations. This one will now be part of my morning chi kung practice and definitely not late at night.

Once again I have to second what Sifu Terry has claimed for Circling Palms from Tao Tan Pai. When I was learning that movement about 4 years ago I found that if I then performed the few other qigong methods that I was also doing at the time, those other methods were noticeably enhanced because for the first time I could actually feel Qi flowing as I was performing the movements. The only thing that could account for this more powerful experience of Qi flow was the TTP Circling Palms which I had learned from Sifu Terry in a private Skype session. That experience of really feeling something while performing qigong really took my enjoyment to another level. And it is an axiom that the foundation must be laid before moving on to the next level. Ip Man of Wing Chun kung fu fame taught that the first form of Wing Chun called Sil Lim Tao, is the most important one and his son stated that is the form that his father practiced the most. The foundation form contained the skills that would be needed for the next levels. So if a student did not master the first level but then went on to the next level he would not be able to perform it effectively. I remember introducing Flying Phoenix Chi Kung to a very experienced qigong practitioner who had great sensitivity to energy. He decided because of his qigong experience that he did not need to order any of the beginning FP dvds. He went right to volume 4, tried it once and declared that there was nothing special about it. I think that comes with disregarding the basics and going straight to the advanced stuff.

I think this last post sums up the situation nicely and it would be nice if this thread could return to its intention of being for Flying Phoenix Chi Kung topics. The topic on dreams clearly does not relate to FP and the contributor has been asked to continue that topic if he wishes on his own thread or elsewhere.

Yes, psychic brain surgery is actually not a joke but is being done to rewire the brain to support Awakening, enlightenment, etc. and is a safe Divine energy at work. People in the formerly called Oneness Blessing movement of the avatar Sri Amma Bhagavan, now called the Golden Age movement, are experiencing very rapid true enlightenment that people have previously only read about but have almost never experienced. It is now happening on a large scale thanks to the new energy of the Golden Age movement methods led by the avatar for this age. A few years back when doing one of the advanced Doo Wai qigong forms Eric also saw a certain energy entirely filling up my body and I was being blessed by it with the result that it was repairing my brain. I have recently gone back to doing this particular meditation. So Earl Grey is indeed blessed to have this FP energy doing this special task for his nervous system. But I am told this is how it works, unbelievable as it does sound.

The sessions for Eric Isen have been $108 for the initial one hour session, and then $90 for the one hour follow up sessions. There is a level of consciousness described in the Vedas, the oldest health care system on this planet, where all you need to do is introduce the name of something, and then spontaneously that object or situation or condition manifests at least in your awareness. I will repeat here just one experience from the many that I have had with Eric over the past 22 years. Our adopted 5 year old daughter was undergoing explorative surgery at the world renown Johns Hopkins Hospital with a team of pediatric surgeons. Before that began we asked Eric to scan her condition. He came back with the results several minutes before the surgeons consulted with us about their findings. The report from the surgeons was close to verbatim as to what Eric had told us he had seen. During my first session with Eric in 1997 this story bears repeating because I enjoy recalling it so much. I was referred to him by a friend and I had much skepticism when I called him. However, that was doubt was blown away after he was able to tell me what I eaten for desert and that I had consumed it too late in the day. He then told me he saw smoke in my lungs while we having the session. Now my doubt crept back in because I never smoked and I had not been around any second hand smoke. So I was certain that he was way off the mark on that. Several minutes later during our session I was aware of smelling sandalwood incense and then I remembered that before making the call to Eric I had lit a stick of incense in the kitchen. So there indeed was smoke in my lungs. A few years ago my wife fell and then had Xrays for her wrist and the doctor told her it was not fractured. She then called Eric and he said he saw two places in the wrist where there were fractures. So she then went to a specialist and he looked at the Xrays and spotted 2 fractures just where Eric had described them. Enough said about that.

Someone will surely supply that answer because it would be quite a task to have to read thru 195 pages to find that information. One definitely is from Volume 7.

When I looked at the ruins of that temple my first thought was that it was the result of the Khmer Rouge faction in Cambodia, as portrayed in the movie, The Killing Fields. A tragic world event that did not get much news in the USA.

Along these lines it was tragic to recently read about the arrest following sexual abuse charges against John of God. But if the charges are true, this is not surprising during our current Kali Yuga age where the abnormal is the norm. Souls incarnating with great spiritual gifts yet there ego has not been disconnected so they have a great fall from Grace. The problem is that then some people over generalize about this and think that all gurus are not the real thing. Guru means remover of darkness which is the bringer of Light. That is the role of a true guru.

What became of Qigong Master Yan Xin?

I heard him talk of this when I learned qigong from him. Spring Forest was the first form that I learned. -
What became of Qigong Master Yan Xin?
tao stillness replied to NotVoid's topic in Systems and Teachers of
Yes, I was referring to Dr. Yan. He is most likely the master whom Chunyi Lin was crediting for healing his injured knee. It's strange that videos has been taken off YouTube that concern Dr. Yan. I listened to one of his lectures but I didn't feel anything from it. That doesn't mean his work is not effective. It's just that I could not sense his energy. -
To Zork I would say that Eric has stated that he sees that Qigong does work in layers and that it contains a self-directed intelligence that guides it to go where it is needed at the time. I assume that the alchemical process resulting from the breathing sequences works in the same manner using self-directed intelligence do what it knows to do when and where.

I am currently involved with parenting a toddler who is less than 2 years old but she has frequent tantrums. They go away when we consistently ignore them. The path less taken will eventually result in someone riding off into the sunset perhaps.

Spoken like a true aspiring Master! Many lessons lie within those well chosen words. The timing of reading Earl Grey's post is impeccable because 2 days before I received a reply from Eric Isen about my inquiry as to why I have seldom experienced any of the wonderful things that he has seen qigong doing for me during his many tests of the many forms I have tried over many years. His answer is that what he sees qigong doing for a person can take several months or even years for it to be experienced by the individual. So when I read Earl Grey's discourse that included the words, diligence and discipline, I lit up with resonance. Namaste to Earl Grey.

Free Hua Tuo’s Spontaneous Five Animals Play Qigong (Zi Fa WuQinXi Dong Gong)
tao stillness replied to Qiway's topic in Group Studies
For those who cannot afford to pay the fee to learn Spontaneous Five Animal Play but do want to experience spontaneous Qi flow, for whatever reason, I would recommend you buy Sifu Jenny Lamb's qigong DVD and practice her Spontaneous Adjustment Qigong and I assure you that you will very quickly experience to some degree body parts moving on their own due to flow of Qi. Requires just sitting down and holding hands in a certain manner and lifting your heels off the ground. It is that simple and easy to learn and do. Of course, I am not saying that you will have the healing results that you would get from Spontaneous Five Animal Play. I am just saying this is a method for those who want to experience spontaneous Qi flow and movement in a very easy, quick and inexpensive way. I do think that learning any method in the traditional manner that it was meant to be taught is important. There are certain methods that just do not work well when self-taught. So my input here is for those who do not wish to try Spontaneous Five Animals Play on their own, but do want to learn a way to have an experience of spontaneous Qi movement. For Jenny Lamb method to work I found out, for me, at least, that I had to have had a full night of sleep or it would not work. And it also did not work at night when I was fatigued. But that might just be because of my make up. For me it did not work every day. It was hit and miss. But once again, that just could be due to my nervous system, energy blocks, etc. Jenny Lamb taught her method to Max who then tweaked it just a tiny bit with the hand position and he renamed the method, Kunlun Method. But one and the same. I say this because I learned from Jenny Lamb's DVD and then later I learned Kun Lun Method directly from Max in a private session. It took about 3 minutes to learn. There is no danger in learning Jenny Lamb or Kun Lun methods. -
Where is it stated that during Flying Phoenix Chi Kung an entity takes over the body? To believe something like that I would have to hear that from the lineage holder of this method, Sifu Terry Dunn. While doing a number of Doo Wai methods over the years including Flying Phoenix I have never experienced anything that would make me think my body had been taken over.

If you have done Yadi's qigong then Flying Phoenix would seem sort of simple in comparison. I ordered Yadi's very amateurly done qigong DVD and did it for about 10 minutes and ejected it as it was pretty difficult. High priced and very poor visual quality taped during one of his workshops. I found Yadi to be quite a hype master. His online infomercials, shot in what looks like his bedroom, leaves you with the message that whatever qigong form he is currently hawking is the latest, greatest method of them all. And if you are not doing his qigong then you are pretty much wasting your time doing any other method since his qigong is the only one that gives you real results. What I did appreciate about Yadi is that he replied in detail to any question that I asked him via email and his replies were soon after emailing him even if was very late at night.

"Their soul is beyond the death of the body" Is this not true for all humans that our soul is immortal? I personally exchange the word immortality for enlightenment when I read Taoist literature and I never thought they were talking about immortality of the physical body. In my mind they are referring to the state of Pure Consciousness which is ever lasting and exists beyond the loss of the body. Many ancient Chinese have died because they mistook symbolism for physical attributes such as ingesting alchemical formulas in the name of becoming immortal. People who practice a very deep form of meditation have directly experienced that Consciousness exists even without the body. So as the Consciousness that we basically are, we are all immortals temporarily residing in a human body until death do us part. My take on it anyway.

As to feeling energy of Kuan Yin, the legend says that Flying Phoenix Chi Kung was taught to monk Feng Do Duk by a celestial goddess. I believe this is possible because I am friends with 2 people who have been taught by well known deities. One was given a gift to use by Lord Krishna, and the other person was taught a chi kung healing form for herself and others by Kuan Yin. Both of these people were on energy/spiritual courses when this took place. Neither one of these people is the type who gets carried away by imagination or makes up stories to impress others, or engages in mood making. I have received the services of one of these people for a very long time and therefore have experienced the gift that was given by the deity. The other person is my best friend's sister, a retired school teacher and her word is impeccable. When I see her again I will ask to see the chi kung method that Kuan Yin taught her. I forgot to ask for a demo of that when I met her for the first time a year ago. It is only because of these 2 people that I would ever believe that Feng Do Duk might truly have been visited and taught by a goddess/celestial being/bodhisattva, etc. The tangible sensations from some of the chi kung from Doo Wai that I have learned is so very different from the other qigong methods that I have experienced, and I have tried 90 or more different chi kung styles so far.

The breathing sequence is done before doing the postures and once learned it is very easy to perform. During the postures you breathe naturally. The pre-posture breathing creates an alchemical process involving the Qi. For me, no other styles of qigong give the unique sensation of my hands cutting thru a cloud of thick Qi as they move during the forms. I am referring to the qigong methods from Grandmaster Doo Wai which includes Flying Phoenix and advanced qigong forms. I think it would be hard to evaluate Flying Phoenix from the outside. One would have to try the forms and read the long thread of posts about it on Daobums to understand how it differs from other styles of Qigong. Some of the forms can take awhile to memorize, and some are very simple and easy to learn. A lot has to do with how strong your short term visual memory is. Learning is made easier by playing the DVDS via VLC media player so you can change the mirrored image in order to have the instructor's hand and arm movements going in the same direction as yours instead of having to do mental gymnastics to figure out where his left and right is compared to the direction you are going in. But like anything else, this style of Qigong has to fit your individual preferences.
-
Find a qigong teacher in your area since your questions and concerns suggest you would have a clearer mind with less worries if you received personal guidance in structured classes. After you understand the basics of qigong you would probably be then ready to learn from a series of dvds. I don't think you are yet ready to learn on your own.

As many people that you ask about any aspect of a chi kung form, that is how many opinions you will receive. The person to ask is Terry Dunn.

Fragrant Qigong warns against doing any additional qigong method that uses unnatural breathing. The breathing sequences used in Flying Phoenix Chi Kung would fall into that category and thus it would not be wise to do Fragrant Qigong if you are also doing Flying Phoenix Chi Kung. The other thing to keep in mind is that many of the reported healings from Fragrant Qigong took place in soccer stadiums in China filled with several thousand people or 1,500 as a minimum before the master would conduct a group. I don't know how much healing there has been from people doing Fragrant Qigong alone.
