It's all good and healing doesn't necessarily imply 'curing' but someone being treated by conventional means alongside complementary healing is likely to fare better than someone treated solely by just one or the other approach.

We tend to be birds of a feather at our ( spiritualist) centre and church so I guess like me most people keep attending for.... The company and to meet old friends. The tea and cakes. Gossip. Make new friends. Social events. Psychic fayre type gigs such as Tea with Spirit and the merchandise stalls. Big name mediums gigs. Development Classes or keep fit/ TaiChi or QiGong. Annual centre holiday at the seaside ( The "Jolly"). Tons of reasons, none especially 'spiritual' but if anyone gets a spiritual buzz now and again then that's an additional bonus.

I thought it was QiGong could as easily be Gong Fu though. It does the job whatever it is. Super cultivation. Read a book a while back by a karateka an English guy who went to live and train in Japan oldish book forget the title. He says that the Shotokan which was pretty new and just getting going when he was there used horse stance but super speeded up as one of their moves.

It seemed to be getting spammed terribly towards the end. I gave up on it as did many. Not sure if they have set up something new.

...... Nothing wrong in cherry picking beliefs. Cherries are nice and most people as adults decide to believe in whatever it is that they do believe in. Where churchgoing still happens in the west kids tend to be taken along until they are old enough not to have to go then they stop. Some go back later in life either to that same church or maybe into something new. It's all good.

I wonder if claiming to be an anything-ist doesn't actually disbar one. Taoist or example as in 'I am a Taoist' . How? OK maybe some Taoist priest in one of those odd hats out in Taiwan. Fair play I'd say their claim holds water. Same for the Dalai Lama claiming to be a Buddhist, he has first call. Those guys were born and raised to their 'ist' . But the likes of us here in the west , are we just playing at it? And if we are, where's the harm? I dunno
