  1. Religion is the poison of Spirituality

Over on the MA forum there's been a huge debate about this very issue http://www.martialtalk.com/forum/showthread.php/106587-Fighting-Off-Dogs
  2. The Absolute Present

It's a question I have often puzzled over of an idle moment. We get plenty of those where I 'work'. Asked the science bods, no joy. Main answer from that direction tending towards.... Find the funding and we'll investigate.
  3. cussing and daytime boggie man to boot

Bitter and Mild were the two main types of beer sold in English pubs in my youth as a toper. You could always tell the bitter drinkers. They were cynical, glass half empty; chaps who swore a lot. Eloquently and creatively using cusses as would make a sergeant-major blench. Mild drinkers on the other hand were phlegmatic , glass half full sorts; prone to reminisce and seldom heard to swear beyond the very occasional 'dammit'. I drank Lager.
  4. Antioxidant and pesticide content in common foods.

Any time you have an infection shun hospitals. Eat Kentucky. There are so many antbiotic traces in farmed chicken that you'll be right as ninepence in no time at all.
  5. Sound of conch while astral travelling

An abiding memory is sunset at the Hari Krishna mandir in Vrindaban, January 1999. Outdoor temple, beautiful white marble sun sinking behind the central altar atop which a statue of their founder seated in meditation pose, and as the huge orange disk of the setting sun just touched the top of the statues head At three altars and up to their knees in flowers thrown by devotees, three priests in pure white dhotis each with the Brahmanic string across their shoulders simultaneously blowing conch shells to welcome the coming night. The chips in their cafeteiria were top class too.
  6. Religion is the poison of Spirituality

What poisons the spirituality in religious practices? Easy Wafers and wine. Totally toxic.
  7. Religion is the poison of Spirituality

There is a human instinct tending towards religion. Another instinct in some humans tends towards exploitation. Happy bedfellows those two instincts. Clerics all would be out of work were it otherwise.
  8. ..... I simply remove my spectacles. Instant Matisse.
  9. The Absolute Present

Were one to be travelling at the speed of light whilst holding a mirror before one's face, would one see a reflection therein? If so. Whose?
  10. Let me introduce myself

As a Trades Union official one's instinct is ever to counsel members... Beware managers bearing candy . That said I reckon you were a fine chap to work for, and anyone who has successfully escaped the workaday treadmill immediately commands respect. I enjoy reading your posts on the board Michael.
  11. The Absolute Present

Buddha, being both omnipresent and omnicompetent; has to be able to do MMA. Ya just don't mess with the best.
  12. cussing and daytime boggie man to boot

....... Feck. No Any bar steward who has to cuss to make their point is an ignorant fecker with an erse for a mouth and no mistake My grandad the pastor always said.. "Any James Hunt who swears has two feckin' erseholes"
  13. Religion is the poison of Spirituality

......... I see. Thank you that makes a lot of sense et and I can understand your posts the better for the explanation. Not so sure about 100% true being true though. Just back from nursing home to see Mrs GMPs gradually expiring 94 year old husband of her 60 year old aunty (he millionaire widower Mrs GMPs aunty was his PA, fill any gaps in yourself). "You are looking well John" says I. Now that was not 100% true but it needed to be said. William Booth who founded the Salvation Army said... "I shall tell the truth should Heaven fall". He'd not have been welcome in that palliative care suite this morning.

........ Job done. Top man yerself sir. thank you for that useful tip. I am still finding my way round this new iPad after serving my time as cabin boy on a Kindle 3G.

Feck duality. Maybe we should have two words One for beliefs that bind (a) and a different word for beliefs that liberate (. Something along the lines of... a: Bad b: Good
  17. Koot Hoomi

That gag may not play well in Florida.

  19. Koot Hoomi

I do 8 strands of silk brocade, have done that for quite some time. I see 'dead' people semi-professionally (I get paid for doing it when I do it, but have a proper day job too) It's indoor work with no heavy lifting involved, very busy at the moment with end of the world scares and such. Always good for business, people like reassurance that this isn't all that there is. Check out the website via my profile.

He's also rather dead, but the business just went from strength to strength.

Back in the day I was one of Osho's first sannyasins here in England. He was Bhagwan back then, Osho came later. Only on weekends mind you. I was smitten by a young lady whose mum was a big shout at Medina the Orange ashram so schlepped over there whenever I could for fun and frolics. Tony Parsons was one of the leaders, nice guy then, still a nice guy now. We had fun, but as all things do it went bits up. They were forever falling out amongst themselves and eventually it closed. Some went to America others just went. Still keep in touch with some of the old gang via reunions at Osho Leela down Glasto way. We are all so old now.... Osho was an old scallywag but his Chuang Tzu gloss... When the Shoe Fits... Is pretty good. He's a brand name these days with spa resorts and such.
  22. It would be cool...

OK You were warned! (Picks up statue)
  23. The Absolute Present

You know them? Pirates could take lessons from some of my relatives. Travelling fair folk (Carnies) or static booth seaside fortune tellers most of em.
