Someone PMd to ask who is the Spirit Guide of the MoPai, in the interests of openness and transparency here is my tentative answer. Hopefully more information may be forthcoming. If anyone has links to any refereed academic papers on the MoPai I would appreciate those. Please NO anecdote or rumour, I have plenty of that. the PM asked... Do you know who is the current spirit guide of the MoPai? I answered as follows.... Yes it's Grandmaster Liao. He was JCs teacher until 1962 then after he left the body he continued as JCs spirit guide. However sometime in the 80s GM Liao ceased working with JC, some say as a result of JC admitting westerners. I don't know. JC then more or less carried on doing his own thing and picked up another spirit guide not necessarily a good one, that's when the schism began. Someone ( I don't know who but am trying to find out) quite senior in the MoPai then began channeling GM Liao and it is that chap who was eventually elected as temporal head of the MoPai. BUT During the schism some of the younger MoPai lads who trained at a sports centre cum gym in Surabaya set up their own MoPai organisation and their leader also claims to channel but MoTzu is his guide according to what I have been told. I must emphasise that all I know is anecdotal and my current sources are as reliable but no more than the rest of the MoPai rumour mill. First hand reliable and verifiable information I am currently seeking via academic contacts in Malaysia where work continues to be done on martial sects and cults. I hope to have a copy of an academic paper referring to the MoPai schisms sometime next week so watch this space. Thank you for your interest and warmest best regards to you. I enjoy reading your posts.

Well they are meeting a need and getting a living out where they are. No different to similar woo peddlers anywhere else in the world.

What to wear on my feet while cultivating?

Good for kicking erse, maybe not so good for cultivating in. -
We saw these sufi guys dance when we were out in Turkey. Guy there told me they are 'separating heaven and earth' and drawing down and on a power. Sounded kinda familiar. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=L_Cf-ZxDfZA&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DL_Cf-ZxDfZA&gl=GB

Playing peep-bo with a puppy this morning. Not sure which of us enjoyed it more. I'm still smiling.

All no doubt worth every penny that you pay for them and each with a follow on programme at most reasonable, if somewhat repetitive; rates. There's no such thing in life as a 'free lunch' bro.

The past is another country. They do things differently there. ;-)

The survivalists seem to have the market cornered in getting away from it all in the west. Out in India one came across older people who had walked away from life to embrace the mendicant holy person path. Down in Vrindaban I came across another group of reluctant holy-mendicants. Youngish and not so young widows thrown out of doors by their late husband's families and left to fend for themselves. There are hundreds of them down there.

Wise words. I despair of the intense young chaps ( always chaps) on here frittering away valuable roistering time with their heads in books, glued to DVDs or sitting at the feet of one or another dubious and seriously repressed shyster peddling snake oil. Carpe Diem lads and suck the marrow from the very bones of life or you may well live to regret that you did not. Time enough for study once your roistering days are done. That may come via marriage, it always comes via age.

Ah sweet sweet Utopia. Motherland to us all. :-) I quite like mountains, only to look at mind you. Wouldn't fancy climbing up one. Have been up a couple on cable cars out in Austria, that was nice. lovely views from the top..

Hemp is a fabulous fabric much the same as linen for summer togs but hemp doesn't crease as much, hemp washes well too whereas linen can keep on shrinking. -
Englebert Humperdick lives in the next village to us. Does a lot for the community locally. Must be a laydee thang with Tom and the Hump, never did anything for me either of 'em. You never hear that song 'Delilah' of Tom Jones played on the wireless these days. Strange how tastes change.
-
One would sincerely hope so. Far too many young lads on here obviously not doing nearly enough frolicking.
-
Tom Jones is dead? Mrs GMP will be bereft.

TaiChi slippers are cheap to buy and made for the job, they are made from all natural materials. Avoid trainers like the plague they insulate you from the ground. Barefoot isn't good for beginners but fine if you know what you are doing. You can find out barefoot times and seasons via Google. Rule of thumb if it's too cold, or wet or uncomfortable to go barefoot, then don't. Never cultivate barefoot in a school or dojo or other public place or you'll catch veruccae. -
Invite it to go into the Light. They do you know. It's only hanging around because subconsciously you want and need it to. Decide to change that and change will occur. Your call bro. HTH

It's not a debate as such. 'Aired opinions' more like. No one knows for sure, some have an opinion; more don't give a feck. Experience still counts for something in Taoism and sure as eggs is eggs most of these young lads pontificating on here now and showing little respect and less sense will be off chasing some fresh fad come spring. Older, wiser heads such as Guro MH carry on regardless.

...... My bad, apologies, thought you were interested in Taoist facets of mediumship and channeling.
-
................... It's possibly a regional phenomenon but certainly in Singapore the Tangki mediums when entranced put themselves through all manner of rather unsavoury physical privations wherein skewers feature prominently. Chickens, poor things; may also play a prominent if somewhat short and very reluctant part in some Tangki rituals. There was something similar carried over into the Xtian tradition in the Phillipines with chaps being nailed to crosses and such but I think that's been banned. HTH Our Brazilian Spiritist cousins (largest Spiritist grouping in the world) can put the P into physical mediumship also.
