Interesting post MH. I believe and teach that we actually learn and apply a bit more than we are ever taught by someone else. We do that by making linkages and connections between the information and then coming up with something uniquely new 'to us' as and when needed. Now that's NOT everybody who does that but a fair few and not necessarily the 'brightest' either. Think of 'idiot savants' for example. If you learn how to problem solve then solving problems is easier to you than to someone who hasn't learnt the trick. Irrespective of the problem a 'problem solver' will be better at sorting it out than a drone.

Teacher to young Robin Williams in his high school days... "Stop playing the fool Williams! Making people laugh is NOT a career. You'll starve".

..... This is just too easy. Sit up and pay attention at the back there! The Tao that can be spoken is not the Tao. We are not speaking about the Tao... for it cannot be spoken. And in that sublime stillness and silence....... a squirrel clears her throat. No charge for the tutorial.

There can be none. Hence it does.

There now that feels much better. Lawks I do hate being at work.

Spot on bro. Anybody takes a smidgen of notice of some tw*t wearing their collar back to front, or shaven headed in orange frocks etc etc is wasting their time, full stop. It's a con and a sham is religion, all of it, without exception and those who make any sort of living from peddling religion to gullible fools are amongst, if not the; lowest scum of the earth.

....... Depends on context I suppose. Lady tells me she loves me every time I leave the house to come to work. That communicates pretty nicely.

Long short. Back in the day when young Colin was starting out he pitched as a physical medium. Lights out. Is there anyone there? Asks young Colin who is not especially securely 'tied' into a chair. Trumpets start floating about and touching siters on the head. It's pitch dark. One time in Norfolk (I was there). Some cheeky sod turned the lights on half way through the seance. Colin is stodd in the middle of the room holding a trumpet and looking p;retty sheepish. he stopped working as a physical medium after that. Topm class mental medium and packs em in to theatres at upwards of thirty quid a ticket all over the English speaking diaspora. -

Up. It is generating useful PMs.

Peter Ralston's a lot cheaper, no bollocks, plain language and it's all good stuff especially if you come in to it from a MA background. QiGong is free. It all leads to the same place if cultivated diligently. Good luck to ya bro.

Ah that finger points not just at the moon it also indicates the death of irony. And maybe thedeath of 'self' too, if we stop; and cease thinking about it. Nice to see you back 3bob and thanks for the reply.

.......... Plus Koine (New Testament) Greek has one more tense than English that Aoristic 'present continuous', which puts quite a different spin on some passages translated into the less vesatile Latin thence English. Paul's "I press forward towards the mark" for example often used as a text to encourage diligent application and the protestant work ethic when in the Koine he is saying.. "Me guys? Shit I just hang. So chill" or words to that effect.

....... Where I come from we have thirty odd different words to describe types of rain. ;-)

Things to take to a martial arts bout

Yep it wasn't the best job in the world and The Maudsley Hospital in South London was an old order asylum. Got me through psychy nurse training but I was glad when that was done with. Hot footed it out of that into teacher training on the strength of the nursing qual having left school and the army with zero academic qualifications. Been teaching since 1977 but it seems much longer sometimes. Had I been a horse I'd have been retired or shot by now. The Maudsley has long since closed down, last I heard it had been converted into luxury apartments but I never went back to look. Back in those days it was all 'liquid cosh' , first sign of infraction and the poor patient was zonked out with Largactyl a powerful psychotropic 'tranq'. Far more enlightened policies these days with most psychy nursing being done out in the community and patients encouraged to live as normal a life as possible. We do still have a few 'special' very secure hospitals for those who in my day were termed the 'criminally insane'. The MA was cathartic, Escrima more so, nothng better than to vent frustrations by whaling on an opponent with a stick. I hasten to add that we all wore very strong and well padded helmets.
