You could call it 'Fifty shades of Holiness'
-
In Xtianity the 'Holiness' movement is akin to pentecostalism but without the speaking in tongues. Good start to the book Sinan, keep it up buddy. For big sales though these days and going off the bestsellers on the bookshelves in Tesco you'll need to pop in some bondage plus S&M to spice it up.

Every "murderer" has buddha nature/goody two shoes inside of them and every "goody two shoes/buddha" has "murderer in them too
GrandmasterP replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
Most murderers locked up here in the UK are domestic lifers. They'll not do it again. Then you have the twisted lunatics in the special hospitals. They would do it again given half a chance. Then a slurry of mainly young lads who did something really stupid, could not cop a manslaughter plea; and are paying the price with their freedom . For everyone of them there's someone who went to spirit violently, unpleasantly and against their own will. Nasty business murder. The conviction implies that the wicked deed was done with 'malice aforethought'. You be careful young Sinan. Anger is corrosive. Bide your time, let it grow cold then colder then decide what to do. Revenge is sweet and sometimes it only needs a cutting word or scornful glance. Either way everybody who does dirty deeds gets to pay for them eventually. -
That aerospace engineering PhD by the way! Not exactly rocket science is it?

"Nice to meet you Mr Scientic Understanding" smiled the Tao. "The pleasure is entirely mine sir", replied that suave gentleman. As a possessor of possibly the most useless PhD in the history of the academy (Gender in Education Management), might I counsel anyone considering undertaking such long laborious cultivation to possibly think again and perhaps plump for a career in maybe lap dancing of short order catering? You'll have far fewer headaches and the tips will be a lot better.

Could someone explain the Buddhist belief system to me?

http://vimeo.com/25376402 I reckon old Tony Parsons has got this non duality schtick pretty well sussed. Dress it up howsoever you choose in Buddhist robes or Xtian cassocks or Taoist silly hats or any other philosophical or religious garb(age) we might favour, it's all pretty much the same thing. We just choose to use different words to describe it depending on which flavour of cultivation suits our particular taste. But we are all talking about the same (No)thing. -

Yep, muddle is about right. We see, as it were... 'Through a glass darkly....' As a famous medium once said.
-
You are preaching to the choir sister. Since the demise of popular churchgoing in the UK and the RC priests debacle mediums have become the new confessors. Business is booming and this end of the world stuff does no harm either. 99% of what mediums and psychics do is BS pure and simple same as politics , psychologies and managerialism along with most other trades that use their tools on areas situated north of the human neck. It's that inexplicable 1% that keeps the customers queuing up for more. Randi is a sweetie his book Flim Flam has been the bogus medium's guide for years. The daft bat tells folk how to fake it so many do. Thing is the bogus mediums don't get a living for long , you get evidence folk come back, sitters get nothing ; they go elsewhere. Cold reading will only ever get you so far and almost as easy to spot as it is to learn. There's not much that is bad publicity for our trade, even the tirades of these skeptic guys like Dawkins and co simply raise awareness and help to bring folk in.

Good point. We were looking a triangulating data capture methods with Year 1s earlier this evening. A checks B checks C and so on. Now that's pretty sound as far as action research goes but ultimately any conclusion drawn is subjective and of necessity limited to the scope or field of the research. You can extrapolate how to make Teflon beyond the research set. If Teflon can be made thus, then replicating that thus elsewhere will produce Teflon as long as you do it right. That's science ( and non stick pans), jolly useful it is too. But perception, now that's a subjective call. Outside of planet non stick pan, where most of us think we live most of the time; things are ever so slightly more complex. Infinitely so. Non stick pan world is a comfy place to live and move and have our being , most folk are happy there, but it isn't especially 'real' by any reflective definition of that slippery term. HTH

It'll never catch on. Folk like the mysterious, thank goodness. Randi's been banging out similar stuff since I wer a lad , but we're busier than ever.

Objective reality is posited on a perceptual subject objectifying same. No perhaps the best basis for empirical pursuits. Who might be the 'I' perceiving?

Had a rather frightening experience yesterday.

He shoots he scores. Us slaves do what we can to resist the oppressor. Skiving is but one weapon in the armoury. :-)

My old Dad liked a bet as much as I do. His tip for betting on boxing was ever..."if there's a choice, always back the black guy'. -
Nope. The best revenge is revenge. Served cold.

Metaphors are handy. What's a metaphor? It's phor getting philosophy lecturers out of answering awkward questions put by bright undergrads. 'An interesting point considered metaphorically and if everyone is happy to remain seated for another half hour one to which I'll gladly respond' is usually sufficient response to shut 'em up amidst the boos and hisses of their classmates.

Well you could always call them fluffbuns or sweetcheeks Won't alter their behaviour but will really piss most people off. One for the Laydees I use to good effect.... "You're looking well. Have you put weight on"? -
Yep those Holly Books are useful. There's an Ivy Book as well. They do a box set for the Christmas market. The Holly and the Ivy.

OK We have stream winning. Much the same idea I suppose. That Buddha, he didn't actually write anything you know. It's all just what the guys who took over thought he should have said had he thought the same way as them. Mr Buddha's message... "Cultivate regularly and stick at it you lazy b*stards" All else is verbiage. Sells books and Buddhist kit, means jack sh*t, none of it. Just words. Millions of the little beggars. Signifying Nothing at All. -

That or turn the other cheek and exercise forgiveness. Or something in between.

Revenge is a dish best served very very cold old chum. Bide your time, ensuring alibi; then slaughter the b*stard when s/he's least expecting it.
