Yep that Lama lad stops it raining almost to order, only locally mind you but enough so they can get around and stay dry. Round these parts, I cultivate, it rains. But having said that it's always flippin' raining these days. Now if I could get it to stop raining that'd be useful.

Could someone explain the Buddhist belief system to me?
GrandmasterP replied to DreamBliss's topic in Buddhist Discussion
..................... Not necessarily.. Taoism Theosophy Secular Spiritualism To name but three non realist paths if I understand you to be using realist in the sense of non duality. Sure to be several more and it does really depend on which Buddhism you use as a comparator, there being so many to choose amongst. -

Pure Land is deistic to all intents and purposes. Nothing wrong with that at all. -
Released: Seeking the Master of Mo Pai: Adventures with John Chang by Jim McMillan
GrandmasterP replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
Here in the UK teachers have to hold professional indemnity insurance cover as an individual plus public liability insurance for the centre. No insurance company will insure anyone who does not belong to one of the recognised and regulated governing bodies and holds a recognizable qualification to teach whatever it is that they teach and the specifications for what is taught are lodged with the insurers against any possible claim being made on the insured party. Almost every internal and external cultivation you might care to name is listed by the insurers, the list is pages long and all the firms use the same list, I know that as we shop around for the best insurance deal every year and have just renewed for 2013 but Mo Pai isn't on that list. Does anyone know of a Mo Pai teacher currently working in the UK or USA? My question has to be, who are they, who insures them, and for what exactly? If you can find that out then the specifications for the cultivation are a matter of public record and you can get at them via the insurance company. -
Had a rather frightening experience yesterday.

QiGong's your best bet as it worked yesterday. carry on in good health but ground and settle via QiGong immediately after the more ambitious stuff. :-) -
Taoism and Moral Relativism: Are they mutually inclusive?
GrandmasterP replied to Aaron's topic in General Discussion
last word I promise Morals (subjective) and ethics (mutually agreed upon) are contra-distinct . TTC is amoral but can and has been the foundation of many ethical codes. Some choose to refer to those ethical codes as morals, that is wrong, they are not morality, they transcend subjective morality as does TTC which of itself transcends any and all subjectification, moral or otherwise. TTC readers may agree on ethical precepts, form a group based on those; for example a sect or school but their ethical precepts cannot of themselves either define not contain TTC. -
What exactly happens in a Tantra coaching session?

Well that's a given surely Cat. You'll get no arguments from this quarter that women are not the superior species. Mrs GrandmasterP would not tolerate that sort of nonsense for a minute. ;-) -

We shall see my Cat chum, we shall see. If it comes to pass then it's insight rather than stereotyping. Sinan will tell us once he's been round there for tea and sticky buns. :-) -

Why do we perceive a silent mind as a threat during meditation?
GrandmasterP replied to Audiohealing's topic in General Discussion
And changing cultivations like you change socks is a sure fire route to failure. Find what works for you then stick to it like you have never stuck to anything ever before. -

Cultivation is the key. Any cultivation, runners talk about being in the zone. That total trained focus and commitment to an act and a fact that is so intense that intensity itself disappears along with the chattering of the monkey mind. Fresh reserves appear from one cannot know where and cultivation flows effortlessly, mindlessly. That can only arise from doing it, each and every day, year after year. Talking about cultivation or writing about it won't work and teaching right cultivation only goes as far as teaching the technique, the rest depends on the individual cultivator's commitment to persist. Taoism and Moral Relativism: Are they mutually inclusive?
GrandmasterP replied to Aaron's topic in General Discussion
Philosophy lesson 1 session 1 for first year undergraduates always begins as follows.... Teacher.... "Before embarking upon any philosophical discussion we must first carefully define, in order to clearly agree upon ; mutually acceptable definitions of the terms to be used". Students... "WTF!??" After about two years of the three-year degree programme, and if they have hacked the course work; the undergraduates begin to engage reflectively with the meaning and import of that first sentence. No charge for the tutorial chums but this thread is too much like my day job for me to linger longer here. -
yep crystalline ice to water I can see that, metal being crystalline too. many thanks for all explanations.

Taoism and Moral Relativism: Are they mutually inclusive?
GrandmasterP replied to Aaron's topic in General Discussion
Take that... Virtue is morality... For example. God is on the side of the virtuous warrior, say the priests to the soldiers on both sides of a conflict. Nazis had chaplains telling them so as did the allies. It's relative is morality Aaron. Ethics trumps morality every time. -

Amoral as in transcending morality as 'ossified tribal taboo'. The ethical steer of TTC is far and above any societally limited moral code. HTH -
ta. It was that metal mirror bit that always got to me. Fair enough steam condenses on a shower room mirror but For some reason it seems to be stretching an analogy. maybe it's just me. Anybody got a better example of metal to water?

Might be an idea to work a short QiGong set either instead of or immediately after your regular cultivation and see how that goes. Maybe a standing eight strands of silk brocade. if it does no good it'll do no harm and it may help to settle and mobilise any residual stuck Qi. If you keep feeling dizzy then maybe best to see a medical professional too. All good wishes.

Taoism and Moral Relativism: Are they mutually inclusive?
GrandmasterP replied to Aaron's topic in General Discussion
We can no more have a common morality than we can wear a collective overcoat. all morality is subjective and relative, just 'ossified tribal taboo'. What we can have is a code of ethics that everyone; irrespective of their many and varied cultural moralities; can agree to abide by. Morality divides... Those outsiders who do not do as we do can be derided as other than us and their ways immoral TTC is amoral in that respect speaking of 'fundamental trust' and that is never found amongst conflicting moral stances it only exists where those can be set aside for something better, higher and mutually acceptable to all parties. An ethical code. -

Good grief Sinan! How so unlike the home life of our own dear Queen! ;-) Quasimodo could get laid at Tantra Week, several times. Anybody getting any don't need to write about it. -
Our healers just shake their hands a few times, as if flicking water off them ; after each customer. Seems to do the trick and they see lots of people every week.

How many people practice Taoism to gain supernatural powers?
GrandmasterP replied to idiot_stimpy's topic in Daoist Discussion
Seriously K I checked it out and it looks good but Mrs GrandmasterP is vetoing further book purchases at the moment. What was hot as an idea a while ago is NOT as an idea today and stuff kinda comes round in cycles. In my day job about every five years some whizz kid reinvents the wheel and comes up with some sooper dooper 'new' idea to revolutionise education that was tried, and found wanting; under a different name five or more years ago. This whole end time narrative that's keeping t'internet buzzing right now as 21at December approaches has all been done several times before. that super string stuff we were chatting about recently popped up as multiple universe yarns in science fiction as early as the 1930s last century. Nothing new under the sun ideas wise. Inventions wise yeah for sure and thank goodness for non iron shirts and non stick pans, but ideas.... Nah. Same old same old under a rebranded title.
