Shiva God of Death sitting on slain tiger skin
GrandmasterP replied to SunLover's topic in General Discussion
Yep for a tiger it's a brilliant insulator but why anyone would want to use animal pelts for clothes or furniture beats me. Fair enough if nothing else is avaiable but it's not a though most of us are stuck for choice is it? -
Your recommended techniques and methods for controlling sexual urges?
GrandmasterP replied to yondaime109's topic in General Discussion
Play the cards you are dealt buddy. Repression is unnatural and unhealthy. Best method I found so far was reaching 60 that worked a treat and I would not want to think I'd reached this age without sampling all the fruits in lifes orchards. These alchemist twonks and Buddhist celibate miserabalists would not recognize how to enjoy life if it bit em in the ass. They try to make a virtue out of the fact that Quasimodo could get laid easier than most of them and 99% of Tantrists simply aint getting any hence they write about it endlessl. The other 1% being sleazey middle aged and often overweight swingers. Enjoy your energies, avoid internal cultivation til you hit 50 and get outdoors more to meet lots of similar like minded chums of your age at your local martial arts dojo. External MA are just the ticket for young men nd women along with seizing with both hands as many partay opps as come your way. Be Lucky -
Shiva God of Death sitting on slain tiger skin

From the picture and given his size it could be that Shiva just hitched a ride on a tiger and flattened the poor creature. -
Ask via City of Ten Thousand Buddhas contact link. They are sure to know Buddhist groups local to you. No idea as far as Taoist teachers beyond the fact that there will be more in California than most other places. Good Luck in finding the right one for you.

Welcome to TTB Darius. It is fun here. Best you check with your doctor or other qualified medical practitioner before embarking on internal cultivation. They are the experts and will be able to advise on what is best for you. Take the book along and explain what is involved as best you can too. That's the same advice you'll get from any qualified teacher and it really is best to begin cultivation with a teacher rather than going it alone. There be dragons out there buddy. Be very careful and only proceed with qualified approval. HTH and best wishes to you.

Or maybe rabbit tastes like any sort of meat. Mate of mine ate snake in Vietnam he reckons it tasted 'a bit like rabbit'. No rabbit trouble round here, cat chases em away. Brian (catless) along the way feeds rabbits. Not intentionally, they just eat all his cabbages.

In a way all politicians are dictators. Some worse than others but it's only a matter of degree. I work on the idea that if one totally ignores them, whilst they don't actually go away; it's the next best thing.

No innocent humans on Earth.. even a human child is a murderer..

I am pretty content with the creation myths. Nobody was around back then so no one knows for sure and the myths are better stories. The Abrahamic one of six days to create everything with a day off on Sunday (God being in the union) suits me fine. Maybe on the sixth day god, being a merry prankster; buried the fossils at different depths just to wind up the evolutionists. Also the Woody Allen version is fun...... In the beginning there was nothing. All was formless and void. then God said... 'Let there be light!' There was still nothing. But you could see a it a lot better. -

Best place for it too. We only donate to animal charities apart from the lifeboats and they save ships cats and dogs as well as sailors. All our centre charity gigs are in aid of local animal sanctuary and being a city centre location we have a donation box for dog and cat food. That gets filled on a weekly basis, people are good hearted round these parts. -
That's always the dream mate. If they engage with critical reflection my job is done. Amazing how many resist it though and all my students are graduates before they come to us to train to teach. Many want a paint by numbers easy path unfortunately and, to some extent; our universities have been offering those sorts of routes for a good many years now. If someone can't or won't make the effort to think critically the they can't very well pass on a skill they don't have to their own students later on. Government education policy in the west of late has focused on turning out compliant technicians as opposed to critical thinkers. Scary in a way but one does what one can.

Using Eastern spirituality to repress your individuality

................................... Pretty pragmatic bunch Taoists there are lottery shrines all over the place and always busy but not noticeably more Taoist lottery winners than anyone else. Fortune telling brings in the bucks too. It's pretty much a service industry with a lot of do it yourself opportunities for everyday practitioners. Other paths tend to have twonks in clerical robes and such skimming the cream off the top in return for what boils down to a parcel of words and actively discouraging the faithful from going it alone. Completely the opposite with Taoism as at bottom it's all YOYO (you are on your own). -

Also the Mayans may just have run out of space on the rock they carved that last calendar on , if they were still around presumably they would still be producing almanacs and calendars. The stars don't look good for 28th December onwards for a while but that's cyclical those alignments have happened before and we are still here. We are stocking up on essentials but then we generally do anyway just getting in a few extra candles and some more arrows mainly. It'll be interesting for sure, something will go off but what and where remains to be seen and it's certainly not TEOTWAWKI as the almanac for 2013 is due out next month as per usual. -
Karma, Destiny and Mastering your Life

yep Sadhguru is an old biker too he has quite a collection. Nice guy and talks and writes a lot of sense. He's a Shivaite in a way but pretty eclectic. Very popular with the Indian community round these parts. -
Be careful with Korean ingredients especially red meat. Ensure that the poor beastie's final word was Moo and NOT Woof.

Beijing short form 24 step Tai Chi info sought
GrandmasterP replied to GrandmasterP's topic in General Discussion
Excellent thank you Sifu -
I reckon bot have a place. QiGong maybe more for internal and external cultivation as a complete package whereas a lot of Tai Chi taught focuses on the purely external. Also taijiquan is the kickest ass martial art whereas QiGong isn't a martial art nor ever was but it is a wise martial artist who cultivated QiGong alongside their form art.

Sadhguru is a righteous dude and a pretty fair motorcycle mechanic too. We have free will and make our own breaks one way or t'other. Good stuff pays debts of bad karma bad stuff just makes more bad karma. Simple solution... Try to do good stuff and avoid doing bad stuff. You told you old mum 'Thank you' yet Sinan? ;-) -

Mentalisation Qigong / Tai Chi
GrandmasterP replied to eye_of_the_storm's topic in Daoist Discussion
Absolutely and it is a fruitful cultivation especially when learning a new set. I use a full mala to go round and through the sequences mentally with intention for Qi to flow where it would if I was physically working the set. It does too to a certain extent, not so much as when I am moving and stood up (this I do in bed at night before sleep) and as the set becomes part of me the Qi flows nicely. QiGong or Tai Chi sets work just as we'll and it's nice to be able to ring the changes and learn a new set now and again. I am off next Tuesday to have a go at Beijing short 24 step Tain Chi and trying to find out the set moves before that class. For a beginner 8 Strands of Silk Brocade QiGong set is the bees knees as it has everything in there in a short sequence. Good luck and enjoy your internal cultivation. -

I read somewhere that the trick is to throw the pebble into a pond and there be no ripples. -
I reckon Mr Jesus was a kick ass cultivator. He was forever slipping through crowds unseen and knocking three bells out of people he did not especially like. Always kinda hoped there might be a CMA style movie made about his life. Maybe Jet Li playing the lead. All that peace and love stuff isn't especially born out by the stories. Bet those traders in the temple the guy whaled on didn't think they'd been beat up by some sort of peacenik.

Quite a list there Wolfie. Thank you for posting it.
