  1. Judgement day

Give it a go. Rise: Cultivate Breakfast (Porridge) Go to work Lunch (Tomato Soup and a soda-bread roll) Afternoon session Oh Sh*t!!!
  2. Tao ke Tao, and where is God

That said, some undergraduates up at Oxford do labour under the impression that they are little 'gods'. I blame their mothers.
  3. Tao ke Tao, and where is God

I suspected a drunken undergraduate with a steady hand rather than any 'deity', were there such things.
  4. Ritualistic Magic? Whats the point?

Ni disrespect to Grandmaster John Chang but that chopstick test works every time on balsa wood.
  5. Nei-Yeh chapter 10

MMMMmmmmmm That kinda works as long as there's no wish on their part or intention on yours for them to move onwards and upwards from where they are right now to where they seek to be. For example... "Welcome to QiGong 101. In order not to confuse your limited understanding; we shall not be using either Chinese words or Taoist concepts during this course" Now there's a class you would not seek to remain in, if your intention was to learn something useful.
  6. Hating school

Oh I know just how you feel. Having been teaching for 34-years , some days; I hate school too. Have you tried 8 Strands of Silk Brocade QiGong set? (Also known as 8 Pieces Brocade) It's ever so good. Keep at it and you'll feel energised and relaxed. Enjoy
  7. Judgement day

Levitation is useful. If ever you find yourself in an elevator plummeting towards the ground via failed brakes, then you'll be glad that you maintained your practice. Plus, once you can levitate you'll make a fortune performing it before paying audiences. I'd not worry too much about Judgement Day though. We are all of us living in our very own 'last days' right now. So make the most of each and every one.
  8. *the words are equally reading you*

If words elicit a response from the reader/hearer thereof then perhaps in a way they are reading the reader. Every text is re-read by each reader, but the text elicits that response. Chap who wrote 'Encounters with Chinese Hermits' speaks of meeting an illiterate hermit. Pure Land chap but syncretically Taoist. 'All' the guy did was chant plus a bit of light gardening to feed himself.
  9. Resources: Books, Links, Articles, Movies, etc.

................................................................................................. The deceptively simple 8 Strands of Silk Brocade contains all of QiGong.
  10. Hello

    Welcome
  11. Deep Bow

Excellent. PMs best place to chat rather than filling up this thread.
  12. Tao ke Tao, and where is God

Graffito scrawled on a wall in Oriel College Oxford reads....... 'God is Dead' signed...Nietzsche Beneath that graffito is written, very neatly; and obviously by another hand.... 'Nietzsche is Dead' signed.... God Good post Shanlung. Nice parrot too. All these 'holy books' - authorized and authoritative texts 'to live by'. It's only some words. Metaphorical fingers pointing to something that they themselves are not.
  13. How do Taoists feel about having pets?

Sometimes that's all you can do but the pussy enjoyed your care whilst you were there to give it. Merit all round. Greek T Shirt slogan... 'My parents went to Athens. And brought me back a cat'.
  14. yikes a petition against fascism

Here in England we have government via politicians and policy-law same as elsewhere but we tend to ignore them as much as possible. Flow around, never resist; they can't engage with that strategy. Drives them to distraction it does.
  15. yikes a petition against fascism

Kinda flies in the face of having a 'Secret' Service if folk know who and where they are.
  16. Please identify 1 tree and 2 geese for me

Ghandi's nickname at school was... 'Goosey-Goosey'

  18. How do Taoists feel about having pets?

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff. All our pets are Taoists. The cat's a reincarnated Dragon Gate priest (and does not let us forget that fact).

  23. VERY NEW and need alote of help

Wikipedia has free info. Also find and try a simple QiGong set. Google 8 Strands of Silk Brocade YouTube. And enjoy. Try NOT to spend any money. It's all there for free if you look carefully.
  24. Deep Bow

My old teacher used to say... 'Pain is just weakness leaving the body'. Not sure about how many 'non-illusions' there are cos I'm not sure what you mean by 'non-illusions'. Probably still won't know when you say, but let's give it a go anyway. What else is there to do?
  25. Schizophreny

I'm in two minds about schizophrenia.
