Those Taoist dudes we see in clips on here now and again, usually Taiwanese. The ones in silly hats and parti-coloured art silk robes banging on gongs whilst standing around in groups and " singing". Very few on here are that 'sort' of Taoist I'd wager. There's 'Hat Lad' of course but he's not been on here for ages. Any westerner who feels the need to dress up like a chorus member from a low rent production of The Mikado as an essential component for their 'spiritual path' ..... IMO, those dudes are fooling nobody but them self.

Yep... Light n Shade again. Those tax dudes are shady coves and no mistake.

Puppies have more energy than 62- year old men. Fact!
GrandmasterP posted a topic in The Rabbit Hole
You heard it here first. 9-week old puppies have more energy than 62-year old men. Mrs GMP is on a dog grooming course all week so I'm flying solo here wrangling the new puppy. Man I am so tired. Miss Olive the puppy has plumb worn me out. New plan for tomorrow. I'll nap when the puppy naps. Next game here is 'Hunt the slipper.' One is where it should be but I suspect that the missing one may have been buried. -

There's zero money to be made from writing spirituality books. Even the big names struggle to make much at all from their publications. The money's in gigs and teaching 1-2-1. No overhead apart from your own time and skill. For anyone with capital or a friendly bank manager to cover atart up costs then an ashram can be a real money-spinner especially if you teach the punters that eating very little and that pure veggie plus doing all the Cooking and maintenance chores around the place will aid their spiritual progress.

Puppy Olive update. Here she is with her big 'sister' Miss Alice both looking totally cute. We know her as Puppy Olive but she knows for a fact that she is ' Fang the Merciless. Destroyer of Worlds' ( starting with slippers and then the furniture). So far she has eaten .... 1: The base out of a cane chair. That was fun when I sat in it! 2: The corners off an oak side table ( oak is HARD!"). 3: My 'sacrificial' slippers. 4: A summer-weight cloth cap. 5: Some socks but not any complete pairs, just 'some socks'. 6: ( As I type) My left shoelace. Sod all of Mrs GMPs eaten at all, just my stuff. -

Is it customary for Mods to pick fights with regular members?
GrandmasterP replied to Tao of Buttercup's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Spooky. Mrs GMP just mentioned that 'poster' one similar but a cartoon and with the same wording is in today's newspaper. Might we have an annual tournament? Mods versus Posters. Posters or Mods to choose the weapons in alternate years. My call for this year as I thought of the idea so - fellow posters " Set your Phasers to 'tickle'" and let the tourney commence. -
Forgot to mention the exception that proves the rule.... Temple Elephant wallahs are generally young, they need to be as it's a physical job. Anyone working a Temple Elephant is a 'made man' and their families can live like nabobs from the takings. They're a priest-caste and wear orange but it's more of a lucrative franchise than ever it is a religion for them.

Yep, most jobs have a down side. Working in India for five- years I came across lots of young Europeans and Americans 'travelling to find themselves'.... ' extended holidays' we called it. With few exceptions those youngsters will have grown up a bit now, found gainful employment and possibly be raising kids of their own. Priorities change as one gets older. Best time to embark on a spiritual quest is post-retirement once all dues are paid and you can support yourself without becoming a burden on anyone else, ripping off spiritual tourists or sponging a 'living' off your Mom and Dad. Becoming a wandering Saddhu in India is a post retirement option of choice for many a spiritually inclined senior. They are revered whereas youngsters in orange are looked upon with deep suspicion by all as lazy feckless kids who are dishonouring their families, especially 'Mum'.

Eating meat and the whole jazz around it. Was Sacrificing an act of love?
GrandmasterP replied to 4bsolute's topic in Healthy Bums
Thing is we'll all carry on eating what we enjoy eating. Nobody will ever be argued into a diet by someone else. It's up to the individual to choose what and how they eat. Complete waste of time trying to convert anybody away from whatever it is that they enjoy eating for their dinner. Diet defines nobody. Anyone relying on their dietary choice for some sort of merit is building on sand. The most boring people in the world are converts to vegetarianism. I gave up long ago describing myself as a veggie when meeting new people. Do that and the convert veggies home in on one with endless tales of how wonderful 'they' are by dint of 'giving up' meat eating. How weird is that? I never started eating meat so don't miss what I never had but if I was raised eating meat I'd not give it up anymore than I'd 'give up' eating cauliflower now. You can generally see the burger craving in back of those 'convert veggie's' eyes as they attempt to convince everyone else whilst remaining partially unconvinced themselves that ' giving up' meat has somehow made them a better person. It hasn't... You've turned into a feckin' bore. That said Mrs GMP is a great sharer of veggie recipes and I pass those on to interested students with the advice to... " Eat less meat and the cultivation- flatulence will diminish." Carnivore farts stink like death - those suckers could make a pig gag. -
Choc Ice. I can see one now in my mind's eye. Yum!

" In my religion we believe that people who give us money will have great good fortune and enjoy a long and very healthy life." OK that might not be true but it could be profitable.

Off topic, apologies; but I'm curious. Do you get free passes to see the movies you have worked on?
