  1. My No Pain Meditation Seat

Oversize zafu here on a thick zabuton. I have chunky thighs so the extra height of the zafu cushion helps and the thick zabuton mat is kind on my legs. It's a comfy set up.
  2. The High Indifference

I read last week in the paper.... ( Jeremy Clarkson in the Sunday Times) " If you were two inches tall then your dog would eat you."
  3. So bluefire is MPG? How can we know that? ( Unless he starts swearing at us course).
  4. Pictures of rainbow body, footprints in stone

It is for sure but it does have other meanings too 'indefinitely long' for one... Encyclo says...... "Although the term aeon may be used in reference to a period of a billion years (especially in geology, cosmology or astronomy), its more common usage is for any long, indefinite, period. Aeon can also refer to the four aeons on the Geologic Time Scale that make up the Earth's history, the Hadean, Archean, Proterozoic, and the current aeon Phanerozoic."

There was a poster on one TTB Buddha board recently querying why non Buddhists were allowed to post. That's about the level of some Buddhabums on here. I've wondered about the usual suspects. One is obviously barking mad and deserves our sympathy rather than any condemnation. One I suspect is an angry teenager or kidult. Coupla trolls for sure just stirring the pot to get a rise out of anyone daft enough to pay attention to their nonsense. Not sure that there are any Buddhists as such on here. Dharma Wheel apart , and the folks there are similar types to our chums on here by and large; proper Buddhists tend not to be nearly so argumentative as some of the clowns in this particular parade.

We all can. 'Doors' mate. Useful things are doors.
  7. Older, wiser to truly appreciate.

Not in a library. There are rules for library users and 'killing the Buddha' is right up there with talking. Not the done thing at all. You could be asked to leave.
  8. Tarot Set for Advanced

I dunno. Times change. The Grande Ettelia imagery is a bit 'of its time' I reckon. Osho Zen's more in keeping with today. Also it's not traditional Tarot as such. There's more 'Zen' about it. That said whichever deck we choose to use it is the sitter who brings the reading to the table with them.

We get that Elvis down our library. Well I think it's Elvis.
  10. Who is a Zen teacher?

He had me at "...unspeakable, Kuntu..."
  11. Watching The Birds

No two grains of sand are the same apparently. There's a lot of sand about. One guy arrived in the Bardo to be informed that in order to learn patience he'd have to count and then classify each grain of sand on the Earth. Time being relative in the Bardo he eventually came back and reported that he'd done the job. " Well you're still not patient enough." mused the Bardo dispatcher " I'll have to find you something a little more exacting. I know... Go back down to Earth and wait there until at least two Buddhabums on TTB agree with each other in a post." That poor guy is still here. Waiting. Patiently.
  12. The High Indifference

It comes and goes even then. I've been fully realised for years and I still have less than a clue most days. For example. I spent £20+ on ostensibly amusing and ( it says on the wrapper) 'temptingly flavoured' chew toys for Olive the Puppy. She's ignored every chew toy thus far but has eaten both of my slippers. Go figure!
  13. I thought so as well. Then I started reading the Buddhist boards on here. Compared to some of those super- snippy Buddhabums even the most fanatical MoPai believers on here are pussy cats.
  14. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

In have wept with laughter reading some of those reviews.
  15. Tarot Set for Advanced

Osho Zen every time for me. I still have my old Gran's Marseilles deck but it frightens some sitters so I never use them these days.
  16. Older, wiser to truly appreciate.

Younger n Dumber. Man - those two walk hand- in-hand. We've all been there. Welcome to TTB.
  17. Our anti drugs slogan in UK education is.... " Just say No" That might work thusly.... "Overpriced branded-logo sports wear ( made by kids for kids)?... ...Just say NO!"

http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B000KKNQBK/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 Check out these Amazon reviews for Veet Hair Removal Cream for men.

Yep. Buddhism's a religion for some and there are a few Buddha-fundamentalists knocking about online too. There is that Buddhism Without Beliefs movement as well though. Stephen Batchelor et al.... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Buddhism-Without-Beliefs-Contemporary-Awakening/dp/0747538433/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405551923&sr=1-1&keywords=buddhism+without+beliefs Jolly good book is that one IMO.
  20. Given that slogan, Nike would make a great sponsor for a TTB thread. Not the Buddhist threads on TTB though, they're more 'Ronald McDonald'. Disney could maybe sponsor the Hermetic threads as a nod towards that old gag... " Mickey Mouse has just opened a shop in the Mall. He's selling Hermeticism wristwatches." And how about.... The Pit... Brought to you by Microsoft.
  21. Who is a Zen teacher?

Yeah thought it must be that one. Nice enough folks but very 'clerical' IMO. You seem to get the 'ordinary' posters such as us then an elite cadre of accepted experts. The western zennists are all a bit like that and it's very self-referential. Possibly because there are so few of them and they all seem to know of, or about; each other. I've imagined their big hitters as a set of trading cards. I have two Brad Warner cards so I'll swap one of mine for one of your Jundo Cohens.
  22. Who is a Zen teacher?

    Was it ZIF deci?
  23. Watching The Birds

Worth a try but mums always know. Usually... " But I already washed Mum!" doesn't cut it.
  24. Does Enlightenment have a plethora of meanings?

Yep, mysticism's a fine way point along any path. Even sociable hermit/mystics such as Julian of Norwich have more time than regular householders to work on cultivation. That's nice work for anyone suited to it.
