I miss that " Way Off Topic" thread. Can't we have one? Sorta like The Pit but for nice posts that have strayed way off topic to be retired into.
-
Far too sensible. Hence, it'll never catch on!
-
Should we bring food? We do to Potlucks round here. Cake is always acceptable. Chocolate for preference.
-
That'd be better as a 'Retention' thread title maybe.
-
'Authority' means a lot to you, doesn't it SJ.

You still find Cavalier tankards hung up in some old pubs. Pewter ale tankard but with a clear glass bottom. Idea being that those old Royalists could be drinking their beer and still keep an eye on the door through the glass bottom of their tankard in case Cromwell's Roundhead Police came in.
-
Yeah. On second thoughts it sounds a bit 'off'. How about "Smug"?

Hermetism or Hermeticism?
GrandmasterP replied to GrandmasterP's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Beer. Even the smell. Echhhhhhh(lectic). -
How about... " Self-satisfaction via Dzogchen" That seems to work.
-
Horse Stance is 'eclectic'. Take your business elsewhere pony-boy.
-
MH you are way off with that one. Hence in the right place here. But just say that you weren't 'quite' so way off in claiming that this thread does not have a topic ( it does and that topic is - "Topical Proximity") Were that to be the case then you'd have no place to post.
-
" So all there is is this...." Tony Parsons ( only 12 minutes long). Enjoy.

I was aware of Mary B-E's book title but have never read it. There was a Christian Science Church near our school and outside they had a sort of glass fronted booth with a new page of the book opened every day plus lots of posters. That would be a cool title for a book of you could get away with it but I expect the Christian Science publishing house would object as it's too close to 'their' book title. Useless factoid. The Christian Scientists claim that Mary B-E was the first woman to found a Christian-type denomination. That's not so as Mother Ann Lee who started the Shakers predated Mary B-E as did Joanna Southcott who founded the Old Southcottians ( I was raised Southcottian Spiritualist).

Hermetism or Hermeticism?
GrandmasterP replied to GrandmasterP's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Then there's emetic. That word makes me sick! -
General was always good. It wasn't broke so why fux it?
-
I liked ' General'. Eclectic sounds a bit poncey to some English ears as it carries Church of England and Missionary baggage. The Eclectic Society for example Now called The Church Missionary Society... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclectic_Society_(Christian)

That sounds like a winning combination you have there Manitou Gotta be a book in it.... How about? " Science and Health with a Key to the Shamanic Tradition."

Hermetism or Hermeticism?
GrandmasterP replied to GrandmasterP's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
I'm a hermit. Quite a sociable one though. Chen XiYi who started the lineage was a 'hermit' apart from when he was whooping it up at the Emperor's Palace and expense. You can have 'Partay Hermits' too we've all seen those at parties. -
She says 1 inch. She wears a locket about that width. I used to wear an 18K Indian Gold medallion ( Maha Lakshmi Goddess of Good Fortune) and that was about an inch wide on a heavy chain. Chopped it in for scrap back when gold went mega. ( Pretty lucky with the price I got for it too). Not worn one since. I do remember that fashion for men to wear really big blingy medallions. That was back in the flared trousers era though and went the same way.

Why Does Tai Ji Starts with Slow Motion?

Warm up. Start anything physical too fast or hard and you'll pull muscles. -
Your... "Years of time to experiment" is possibly as close as anyone might get to origins of internal alchemy Max. Welcome to TTB BTW. Nobody knows for sure nor ever could beyond the fact that the literature goes back millenia BCE so folks were surely 'experimenting' over millenia. Lineages established an ongoing 'research community' so, unlike much of the western canon, there wasn't any 'interrupt' through libraries being burnt or vandal conquest to hinder progress. Many of those internal alchemy cultivators today continue within such lineages. IMO internal alchemy is 'evidence based practice' in that cultivators cultivate and the evidence arises therefrom. The 'proof of the pudding is in the eating' as it were. Hope that helps.

Hermetism or Hermeticism?

Then that would be Eremeticism. Our ( Chen XiYi) is an eremitic lineage. Now leave me alone! -
Far as I know the liver and kidneys get rid of any Vitamin B complex not needed. It's good for what ails those who need it and injection is the only way it can be administered because the gut neutralises orally injested Vitamin B Complex before it can do any good.

We all know of another path where the 'holy scriptures' are preached and expounded by salaried clergy for the edification of their paying congregations. Some folks mistake reading for cultivation and listening to someone else for 'hearing' their own path.
