There's a theme-song for this thread.....

Maybe we move super fast in those dangerous situations and don't know it hence, to us; time is almost standing still. I don't know - is the straight answer. For sure it happens though as you and I can testify Manitou.

Bill Porter in his book Zen Baggage reckons that there's a tribal people in China who are the ancestors of the Navajo.

+1 Slow time is our friend sometimes. I've been shot. Time slows down. Everything is in super slow motion. But it isn't to anyone else. Had time not almost stopped ( allowing me to get out the way of a bullet I could, and can; still 'see') when I was shot at then the enemy round would have taken off my head rather than the chunk of my leg that it did get.

I love that last line in Camus 'The Outsider'.... "I surrendered myself to the sublime indifference of the universe"

Can meditation reduce the effects of ageing? (study)
GrandmasterP replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in General Discussion
From, admittedly limited: personal observation I'd say that seniors who are cultivators are healthier and, in general; live longer than those seniors who don't cultivate. On the other hand the same can be said for seniors who play lawn bowls. Lawn bowlers are just hitting their game peak at age 80. I play lawn bowls in a 'juniors league'. I am 62. -
You got that right MH. We still ended up with a German Royal Family but they've integrated and been accepted over time.

Osho Scriptures are the footprints of the Buddhas, but the Buddhas are gone Question : Is it not possible at all that the, great religious, scriptures of the world can help the seeker in his search for god? Osho : The real seeker cannot search for God, because to start a search for God means you have already accepted that God is. You have already concluded. How can you start a search from a conclusion? You are already prejudiced. You are a believer, not a seeker. The seeker cannot search for God, because he does not know.

Anyone who builds a cultivation reliant upon textual sources is building on sand. To go by..... "Because this text says thus I must do and/or believe what it teaches." - is a recipe for discord ( we can see that in some posts here) at best and fundamentalism at worst. Not so much at the point that an individual is putting all of their intellectual/cultivation eggs into a single 'belief basket', but at that next stage. The stage that always happens. When those folks begin banging on to all and sundry that it is 'their way or the highway' and that they are the only ones with ALL the right answers. Everyone else, of course; is just plain wrong and brings the wrong attitude. Fundies are seldom polite, always boring and; whilst we may tolerate their foibles it would be nice if, just now and again; they would 'change the record'.

If 'astral travel' works; how come it's not on TripAdvisor?
GrandmasterP replied to GrandmasterP's topic in The Rabbit Hole
As far as I know I only ever travel in the astral in dreams. Can do remote viewing but seldom 'to order', that comes and goes, sitters tend to contribute about half the 'necessary' for that to work well. My guide Joanna though only ever uses astral travel. It seems to be the vehicle of choice for those 'in spirit' from the other side of life over to this side. Jobbing Spirit Guides can only ever be one place at once but can get to that place in a single thought. Those who have gone onto higher things beyond where the guides live though ( we call it Summerland but it goes by many names) can multiply-locate almost 'omnipresently' - or so I am reliably informed. -
Thank- FULL-ness. Perhaps? Nice thread topic BTW. Kudos 4bsolute.

Time to get out the vacuum cleaner maybe? Any spiders' webs in our house are immediately 'consigned' along with the hopeful blessing to " Become a Buddha".

spells that always work

Flowers now. They're magic. We've had FoxTail lilies in pots for four years doing nothing. This year they are all flowering for the very first time. Pure magic. -
"This is practically an ingrained attitude common among TTB's, an attitude to be avoided..." On thoughtful re- reading might you not reflect on why and at what point that sentence might not be read by a TTB poster as being co-equally rude, patronizing and arrogant Simple Jack?

Stop upsetting the colonials! Round these parts we still celebrate 'Washington Day' on August 24th. ( There's always a bonfire).

Random thought about Dao that can not be spoken
GrandmasterP replied to soaring crane's topic in Daodejing
"If the Dao can not be spoken, then, ipso facto, that which can not be spoken must be Dao." Possibly. Then again, possibly not. How could one ever be sure? -
This guy sounds enlightened to me.
GrandmasterP replied to Tibetan_Ice's topic in General Discussion
Same here, pretty much robustly healthy; thankfully. I'm a mix n match chap though. Professional medical support when necessary PLUS spiritual healing. -
Now look what you've done!

Indeed. Those upstart colonists were exceptionally cheeky IMO! What part of that signpost reading "New ENGLAND" did they not understand? Seriously though..... Happy Independence Day guys. .

It's had rave reviews here. We can't get it as we only have terrestrial ( free channels) TV. Has Harrelson ever made a crock? Seems like everything he's in is pretty good.

I'm bald so a hat is a necessity in summer sun or winter chill. Flat caps for me as a rule. White for bowling. Tweed ( Autumnal shades) for winter. In summer lightweight jobs in various colours, today a light grey linen cap. I do own one totally brilliant black hat which is an Amish cartwheel job. I had that copied in white drill to create a bowling hat that doubles as a large sunshade. Trouble is it blows off in the slightest breeze. Those Taoist hats are super-weird and all due respect to any westerner who wears one but.... It's really NOT a good look guys! Given a western audience for spiritual teaching or cultivation then , IMO dressing up as a chorus member in a provincial tour of The Mikado detracts from rather than lends itself to gravitas.

Teach for free? You can all go.....
GrandmasterP replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in General Discussion
If no one can teach anyone anything then folks would be walking around in potentially dangerous shoes without the laces tied and I have been accepting a salary under false pretences these 37-years past. I think that Mystique Enigma has moved on BTW. Not seen her around the boards for some time. -
