Yep. Beyond a certain point labels are just labels. Dogmatic sectarianism becomes a sort of lifebelt. Made of lead.

Dick Loudon and his wife Joanna decide to leave life in New York City and buy a little inn in Vermont. Dick is a how-to book writer, who eventually becomes a local TV celebrity as host of "Vermont Today." George Utley is the handyman at the inn and Leslie Vanderkellen is the maid, with ambitions of being an Olympic Ski champion; she is later replaced by her cousin Stephanie, an heiress who hates her job. Her boyfriend is Dick's yuppie TV producer, Michael Harris. There are many other quirky characters in this fictional little town, including Dick's neighbors Larry, Darryl, and Darryl...three brothers who buy the Minuteman Cafe from Kirk Devane. Besides sharing a name, Darryl and Darryl never speak (until the final episode). Old Bob did not even need to speak to get me laughing. Just that look he could give to people.

Bob Newhart. When he had that Inn. Man those two hillbilly neighbours of his ( they had the same first name) were funny.

He died. Our TV comedy is dire for sure. They seem to mistake profanity for comedy nowadays. Back in Benny Hill's day we had shows that made you laugh. The funniest shows on our TV are the very old repeats such as Dad's Army ( about the Home Guard in World War II). Good clean fun you can sit down and watch with all the family and not have to worry about what's going to be said or shown. The best were always the US imports. Mr Ed. Beverley Hillbillies. My Favourite Martian. Phil Silvers. Car 54 where are you? Classics those were.

And you would be wise in doing so. It was a question rather than an assessment. " The unexamined life is not worth living." :-)

Baduanjin and Mindfulness. Links via my signature for more (free) information if interested. Suits me but other paths will resonate with different people. The 'trick' is to stick at whatever suits you and cultivate even when you don't feel like cultivating. Every single day.

Two priests died at the same time and met Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, "I'd like to get you guys in now, but our computer is down. You'll have to go back to Earth for about a week, but you can't go back as priests. So what else would you like to be?" The first priest says, "I've always wanted to be an eagle, soaring above the Rocky Mountains." "So be it," says St. Peter, and off flies the first priest. The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, "Will any of this week 'count', St. Peter ?" "No, I told you the computer's down. There's no way we can keep track of what you're doing." "In that case," says the second priest, "I've always wanted to be a stud." "So be it" says St. Peter, and the second priest disappears. A week goes by, the computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter to recall the two priests. "Will you have any trouble locating them?" He asks. "The first one should be easy," says St. Peter. "He's somewhere over the Rockies, flying with the eagles. But the second one could prove to be more difficult." "Why?" asketh the Lord. "He's on a snow tire, somewhere in North Dakota."

Chan's Taoism minus those silly hats, Zen came from Chan. Howsoever anyone cultivates, single brand or casserole it's the mind that experiences cultivation's effects. No biggie what anyone chooses to do just as long as they choose experienced teachers. Most teachers would recommend though that a student sticks to one method rather than chopping and changing. That said most zennists use QiGong ( walking QiGong especially) but not all QiGongers sit zazen. The folks who come to us disappointed are generally people who have got so far with a book or DVD then hit a wall. No book or DVD can offer the motivation to stick at it that a good teacher trained in coaching and mentoring can. Plus making the disciplined effort to attend and stick with a class is a great focus. Groups work together helping and encouraging one another. One of the things I've noticed from the online cultivation related forums I frequent is that you get lots of 'butterflies' online. People who constantly flit from one new thing to another. A rolling stone gathers no moss.

Chocolate is one of our 'five a day'. Round here chocolate is classified as a fruit. Aldi own brand chocolate is a quality product much better than all but the most expensive alternatives such as Green and Blacks. Agree that Cadbury's is awful stuff, tastes ' greasy' to me. Nasty. If you have a sweet tooth then that's also a sign of mediumship. Spirit contact rips the blood sugars right out of your system. Hence the old cliche of the 'portly' cake eating extra-large lady mediums. Not all are like that but plenty still are and in my youth most mediums were on the Extra Large size.

So this rabbit walks into a butcher's shop and says to the butcher, 'Got any carrots?' The butcher says, 'No, we have only meat here. It's a butcher's shop.' The rabbit comes in the next day and says, 'Got any carrots?' The butcher says, 'No, we sell only meat in this butcher's shop.' On the third day, the rabbit comes in and says, 'Got any carrots?' The butcher politely says, 'We have only meat. Meat.' The next day, the rabbit comes in and says, 'Got any carrots?' 'Listen,' the butcher says, 'we have only meat here. If you come in one more time and ask if we've got any carrots, I will nail your ears to the floor. You hear me?' The next morning the rabbit comes back to the shop and sees the butcher. 'Got any nails?' he asks. 'No,' the butcher replies. 'Wicked,' says the rabbit. 'Got any carrots?'

I'd not get too hung up on lineage as some sort of uber negative religious type thing to be resisted. Way I see it. If I got on a plane and the pilot came onto the PA and said... " Hi I am your pilot. I have done a correspondence course and watched some Youtubes about flying jets plus I bought a coupla books off Amazon about piloting so we should be OK." I'd get off that plane if I could. We expect pilots to be well trained, skilled and practised in flying planes having been taught by experts in flying. That's how I see lineage. Expert teachers who teach expertly within a certain recognised skill set and have been recognised as teachers by people who know what teachers in that particular 'school' or cultivation are supposed to be able to teach and teach effectively. I don't agree with this " My teacher's lineage is better than your teacher's lineage." BS. That's a bit pathetic IMO. Thing is anyone can set themselves up as a cultivation teacher and there are some real shysters out there. Hence I reckon that it is far better and much safer to go to someone you can have confidence in that they are properly trained and skilled enough to have been accredited to teach by some checkable and recognised 'line' or school of practice Lineage gives that assurance. The system selling guys on here and elsewhere by and large are self referential, basically they have made it up and are selling it on for profit. Lineage doesn't have to be ancient but it does have to be accredited, checkable and have some sort of quality controls and ethical framework beyond some guy with a dime store 'doctorate' claiming... " Yeah my way is the best, that'll be $400 please." Those guys bring 'new' products onto the market almost annually to maintain sales plus they are forever advertising, because they need to replace the disappointed students they have lost. A lineaged teacher tends to retain students because what the students are getting is worth having. Here's mine... http://jsqg.sport.org.cn/en/ Combines the best of some older lineages along with new research. Not for everybody but it suits us and our students. We're fully insured, have an ethical code and safeguarding and we're 'inspected' each year to ensure that standards are being maintained. Classes cost £4 a session for anyone, £3 a session for members and are free for seniors. That includes a cuppa tea. -

Peer reviewed papers in reputable journals would be the best sources. Sadly most of what we see is thinly disguised advertising or believers boosting their own beliefs. -
