  1. Well you can't send it to ' The Pit'. Who'd want to be the guy who consigned 'God' to ' The Pit'? :-0
  2. That would be a useful resource for sure and it could be fun finding those forums. I was thinking just how basic that chart is. For example the Buddhism row... I reckon you'd need at least as many rows for Buddhism as there are sub forums over on Dharma Wheel. Moslems too you'd need Shia, Sunni, maybe Sufi and where would the Ahmadi's fit in. Main thing is that people on religious forums are usually happy to talk and write about their own path so you'd not be short of free copy. Good luck with the project if you do decide to go for it. :-)
  3. +1 there BKA One of the lads over on MA posted this a while back... "There are a lot of people teaching with little real understanding. They parrot the motions, they do what they did... but they don't understand why they had to do it as a student. Often, I think this leads to a loss of fundamentals and an over-focus on fancy and advanced things, on what's "cool" rather than the basics that make everything else work." That's fair comment I reckon. We are in a time that craves novelty. There seems to be a need to be forever doing something new... The 'next level' or the 'next belt' and maybe some teachers are scared that if they stick to the basics for too long then they'll lose students. For sure attention spans are shorter nowadays than once they were and it's hard to blame a teacher who is depending on students for her or his living not to succumb and give the students what they want sometimes at the expense of what they 'need'. I'm that age now though where boredom is welcomed and the familiar is comfortable so maybe that colours my views somewhat. All we do is the standing form Baduanjin and, to me; that is tremendously complex. Been at it for years now, each and every day and not even begun to 'get' it yet. One cultivates in hopes. To some folks what we teach at the centre and it is all I teach and all that I do - it's just a 'warm up' for the good stuff. All respect to those who cultivate the complex but, for me; that old Eight Strands of Silk Brocade ( as we term it) has infinite complexity, subtlety and mystery. That said I'm no expert at it - yet. Maybe one day.
  4. Not laughing at you Cap. Apologies if that was the impression given. That Thesaurus now. How about posting the relevant row onto that faith group forum and asking them to comment and fill in more info? So for example the Moslem Row could go to a Moslem site and the Jain row onto a Jain forum and so on. Then collate what comes back. Might make for an interesting resource with minimal work required from the researcher beyond some editing and collation.
  5. Yep MBCT is in the early days still. There's some good research been done but still lots ongoing.
  6. Clairvoyance vs Immediate Knowledge

I never ever get anything really useful such as lottery numbers ( winning) or which gee gee will run fastest in the Epsom Derby. It's all towels and lost video games plus Uncle Bob saying hello from spirit with his thanks for the lovely funeral flowers. Not much of a 'super' power at all really. :-)
  7. bah

Uuurrrgggghhhhhhh. Whoever invented work needs a good slap. Cream Crackered. :-(
  8. +1 on NHS and cost benefits analysis. The NHS has been throwing money at Mindfulness research. No complaints here as our institution has benefitted from research and some welcomed mindfulness research funding. ( you can find links to some of that via the link in my sig). Why? Cos talking therapies and self- help are ultimately super- cheap compared to most alternative therapeutic interventions. Mindfulness is really effective where it works but like everything else it doesn't work for everybody everytime. You could do worse than giving it a go Cap. You know enough for sure to follow what to do, when and how from the pointers on that website. MBCT might suit you. Nothing ventured.....
  9. Clairvoyance vs Immediate Knowledge

Yep. A zen master told me similar. He was levitating at the time. (Sorry... Only kidding).
  10. bah

I'll see your Bah and raise you a thousand Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs. Back to work today after Easter vac. In for 11am, faculty meeting* at 4.15pm ( an opportunity to contemplate chewing off one's own arm for the sake of boredom) and stuck there for tutorials until 9pm tonight. Feck Damn grrrr and Double feck. *Faculty meeting ( def). A gathering of academics conjoined by mutual loathing who agree on naught save the need for more nominated faculty parking spaces closer to the main buildings.
  11. (((( Gassho)))) :-) We've had a thread over on DW along similar lines. May be of interest to you. http://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=16169
  12. I want to grow magic mushrooms

I know one guy who did that Ayahuasca ceremony in South America. He is about as far off this planet as anyone could be who still has a house here. That said he marched to a different drum than most before ever he went to South America. :-)
  13. I want to grow magic mushrooms

Yeah it's a generational thang too maybe. I'm an old dude. Not my call whatever anyone chooses to ingest. I'm sitting here smoking strong black shag. :-)
  14. I want to grow magic mushrooms

Yep. Excuse me man. I'm not yer old Nan, just coming across like one. :-) That was a sad tale about that poor lad. Only 19. Bleddy shame but as you say it's only one guy. I'm pretty down on 'fun' drugs full stop. Was a psychy nurse for many years and saw too many drug addled feck ups to think otherwise. Each to his own though. Ignore a nagging old man. :-)
  15. What does standing meditation do to/for you?

I do the '8 Pieces' standing form. That's fine cultivation.
  16. Water

Gotta ask. What sort of gigs were you doing Rara?
  17. I want to grow magic mushrooms

    This guy thought similar.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2613408/British-tourist-19-dead-remote-Colombian-road-tribal-drug-ritual-went-wrong.html
  18. Ghost experts...I need you!

For sure there's some airing cupboard/towels/ dressing gown significance for Rara. We'll see once he gets home. If that missing game is wrapped in a towel or similar then Joanna my spirit guide wishes to lay claim to a finder's fee. :-)
  19. Most excellent points Satya. From a purely practical point of view anyone who teaches a QiGong class or publishes a QiGong manual without a health disclaimer could get their erse sued off and lose their house. The insurance companies insist on it. We live in litigious times. It is unlikely that QiGong would exacerbate a pre existing mental health issue. It is not impossible that it might. It is more likely that a litigant with a smart lawyer could claim that it 'had' . Hence those disclaimers.
  20. I want to grow magic mushrooms

Good call Skydog. Say no to 'recreational pharmaceuticals'. That shit'll kill ya man. If not body then the spirit.
  21. Ghost experts...I need you!

Vulnerable is maybe a victim word. How about 'receptive'? Maybe an anniversary of a passing in April? A spirit who passed around this time of year trying to get in touch perhaps. Full moon's just been and gone too that can be an active time
  22. Qigong balls

If ever a family baby smiled at me the ex Mother in Law would say... " S/he's got wind."
  23. What did meditation do to me? Please read...

I'd like to Offer something To help you But in the Zen School We don't have a single thing! (Zen Master Ikkyu).
  24. Ghost experts...I need you!

    Was it there?
