  1. Can the Tao be found in a 66 hours work week?

I work 65 - 70 hours every week, have for 20+ years. I'm not sure if you can find Tao in your work. But, you'll be amazed at what you will find if you keep searching with sincerity and diligence.
  2. Qigong for Modern Travel

I fly all the time, have since the early 1990's and gave up trying to find any meaningful meditation or qigong technique that works on a plane. Planes are too cramped, to noisy, too stale, too crowded. Not saying you can't find something that works for you while flying, but for me it's best to wait until I get on the ground, find a quiet place and do my qigong meditation there.
  3. What are your favorite practices?

Many spiritual practices include prostration. Go to Wikipedia and search "prostration"....you'll probably be surprised. In my case prostration to a Buddha.
  4. What are your favorite practices?

Ok, after reading this thread I got motivated and did 120 long prostrations yesterday. I was bathed in sweat by the time I finished. I must say at around the half way point there emerged a spiritual exhilaration that counterbalanced the physical rigor, and that made the practice surprisingly..... enjoyable. I plan on doing 120 again in the morning. I'm not ready to say doing prostrations is my favorite practice, but maybe C T is on to something here.
  5. Burning off Bad Karma

According to certain Buddhist thought, there are practices one can perform that create merit. Prostrations is one of those practices. So, if a person has done bad things in their life, then doing practices that create merit essentially counterbalances (or burns off) bad karma. It's like adding things to both sides of a scale.
  6. What are your favorite practices?

C T - good info thanks. The Master who taught me this practice once did 1,000 long prostrations per day for 100 straight days. Yup, that's 100,000 in 100 days. Amazing. I have not been taught the 100 syllable mantra, but was taught to repeat a different set of syllables with each prostration. Based on this thread including reading through some of the links, I'm encouraged to put more focus on doing prostrations as a greater part of my daily practice.
  7. What are your favorite practices?

Full prostrations are physically demanding when a lot of them are done. I was taught to do them in multiples of 30. In other words do 30, or 60, or 90 or 120, etc. I tend to stay on the low end of that, doing 30 per day first thing in the morning. That said based on some info in this thread maybe I'll get motivated to bump it up to 60. To the OP, long prostrations are far pretty far away from my "favorite" practice. I keep doing them to burn off bad karma from my misspent youth.
  8. Super enzyme Serrapeptase and Lower dantian

I'm also going to weigh in with my experience with serrapeptase. I've been taking it about 60 days now, and it's largely corrected a condition that I had that would amaze doctors. And, it continues to further make incremental improvements by the week. I won't say what the condition is (was) but I can tell you the serrapeptase has had a rather astounding effect. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, as it convinced me to give it a try....I'm quite happy with the results.
  9. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

A little update on my practice. As I get back into FP, I have changed my practice from a PM practice before to an AM practice. You always have time for why you do first. Second, I have been sticking to the basic meditations as I get back in to the practice. The basics are quite powerful, and the key to progress is to practice consistently. About a week ago, I added "the Sleeper" however my body is still adapting to it. BTW Charlie, chasing grandchildren isn't qigong....its aerobics. ;-)
  10. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I can vouch for the fact that doing 80-70-50-30 and 70-50-20-10, when done daily, back to back did indeed restore my hair quality. A good percentage of my gray started returning to its original brown on my head, face and arms. It was noticeable to the point is that my friends and family noticed and made comments about this. I continued this routine for about 6 weeks, every day. Eventually since my goal for practicing FP wasn't to revitalize my hair, I gradually changed my routine of practice in terms of the forms and sequence of my daily FP meditations. That said, reversal of hair color from gray to brown was a very cool side effect!
  11. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Speaking of basics, after a nine month hiatus I began practicing FP again today. My plan as I get back into the practice is to stick with the basic meditations the first 30 days, then slowly start adding intermediate FP exercises. I'm taking this slow, gradual approach in order to allow my system time to adapt to the power of the FP meditations. So this morning I practiced the five basic FP standing and the first three basic seated, with a longer focus on the very first basic seated (as Sifu Terry recommends). Well, those are "basic" but the effects were profound. Wow! This sequence gave me a large dose of positive energy that's been with me all day. Now, I'll be back to a daily practice with a goal of going beyond where I was when I took the hiatus. Full speed ahead!!!
  12. This post will not apply to most people reading this, but if it does apply to you, then I expect you'll find the information below to be valuable. If you believe you may be having an issue due to negative entities or a curse, I'm letting you know there is someone who can help. I mentioned help with karmic issues in the title line, and need to make this point early: No one can change your karma. However, it may be possible to change your current situation that is a result of karma....this concept may in some ways sound paradoxical, but I decided to throw it out there in case it may apply to a reader. So back to the subject of getting help. First of all, if you're having an issue, you need to recognize or at least be suspicious that you're having that issue due to one of the reasons mentioned. This may not be clear, as your symptoms may be exhibited as extremely low energy, as bad nightmares, as dark thoughts entering your head, as a chain of bad luck events, as a series of health problems one after the other or some combination of those things. Or, it may be clear that you have an entity issue because in many instances they don't hide themselves, or it may be clear that you are suffering as a result of a curse. Perhaps you have gone to someone who said they can correct your problem, but after they treated your issue it only got worse. In fact, if you go to someone who tries to remove an entity and fails, then things will get worse as that entity will become angry and will seek to take its revenge. There is a very high level master living in Colorado, USA, who has followed the advice of her Masters to become a healer. I want to say this carefully so as not to sound like I am overstating her abilities, however, I can say with confidence there is not an entity or curse she is not capable of dealing with successfully. She is humble and typically soft spoken, however her power is beyond what you can likely imagine. Again, she is a master of very high accomplishment and we are blessed that she has taken the path of a healer, available to everyone. Her name is Sifu Jenny Lamb. If you've been involved in martial arts, qigong or have been on this board for awhile, you are likely already familiar with her name. She's been mentioned a number of times on this board over the past few years, including the Yigong thread. Or, perhaps you've been to her website in the past and ordered a tai chi, Yigong or qigong DVD. So, many of you may know of her. That said, not many are aware of her extremely high level of attainment, nor of the fact that she is now completely devoted to healing. Again, I can assure you Sifu Jenny has abilities to successfully deal with any entity, curse or health related issues that seem to have no remedy. That said, I want to provide some balance to my message by again bringing up the issue of karma. If you are to receive something of high value, then you must first give something of equally high value in return. It's karmic law. I offer this as fair warning that there is no free lunch. I am not providing Sifu Jenny's contact information in this post. If you wish to touch base with her and do a Google search on Sifu Jenny Lamb, you'll find her contact info. She also has a blog on Facebook. I offer this information as a result of first hand experience. I personally have had an ongoing issue for years, and I wasn't aware of the cause. Doctors didn't have a clue. I had talked with some people of high accomplishment about my symptoms, however, the cause of my issue was either something they did not recognize, or dealing with the cause was not their specialty. Then I contacted Sifu Jenny, seemingly by chance. As a first step, she diagnosed the root cause of my problem. Then, with her help my issue was completely and permanently resolved. I will also add that during the time I spent with Sifu Jenny, simply being around her had an extraordinary effect on me. Now after the fact, the quality of my life has improved dramatically, and the improvement is beyond words really. So for the vast majority reading this, perhaps this is nothing more than interesting information. However, if you are someone who is having a problem with a curse, demon, ghost, spell, illness that you have not been able to resolve, or karmic issue, I'm letting you know there is someone who can help.
  13. The OP was made simply to let people know there is an option. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't have a dog in the fight. There are some knowledgeable posters who have made some excellent comments in this thread, including discussion around the issue of charging for services vs not, etc., and I understand both sides. I don't have much experience with Sifu Jenny, but the one I recently had was very positive. Take it FWIW, as I'll not make much comment beyond what I've already said.

Hi All - just checking in and am delighted to see the FP thread is going strong....stronger than ever it seems. I have been dealing with a few issues (one more to go), but plan to become active on the board again in the near future. A special thanks to Sifu Terry, as we all appreciate your invaluable contributions. Best wishes always, Lloyd

Blue - Congrats on your first post. Welcome to the thread! Each time you do FP will be unique and different, so if you "feel it" sometimes and other times do not, this is normal and natural for a new practitioner. Keep practicing, and over time you will find your results get more consistently powerful. Regarding (1) Do not change the sequence of the forms on the DVD (doing L and R, etc.)....do the forms exactly as instructed. The FP forms are balanced in and of themselves, and you should have no concerns about modifying them because you are concerned about the balance. They are already balanced. (2) When doing forms some small pauses at certain places are ok, but in general it's best to maintain very slow, constant movement, as shown on the DVD. (3) Again, do the forms exactly as demonstrated by Sifu Terry on the DVD's, including foot position. The more months you practice the FP forms, the more powerful they will become. It's a great journey....stay with it and enjoy the process. HTH, Fu_dog

To Coaster's question about breathing sequences: you want to perform the percentage breathing with precision, however, if you are off a little as in your example you will still get good effects. The important thing if you are a little off is that the breaths are maintained relative to each other in the sequence. (Relatively, 60 is less than 90, 20 less than 60). In your example of a 90-70-20 that was actually done 90-60-20, while not ideal, it would still yield benefits. What would not be OK is if the breathing percentages changed relative to one another, for example 90-20-70. That just would not work because the relative values would be substantially different. Hopefully this makes sense.

pitisukha - In general the slower the movements the better. The longer I have practiced, the slower my movements have become....and the more powerful the energy. So, 20 minutes for 7 to 8 repetitions of BTB sounds pretty good to me. I'll let someone else answer your question regarding how long it takes them to do 18 repetitions. I have a feeling mileage may vary. ;-) Lloyd

Pitisukha - I will send you a PM.

John - that's a very good testimonial about the benefits of doing FP in the morning. As is I seldom do a morning session because of my work schedule but I must say on the days I do things seem to go better. Also, the nonlinearity of practice time-to-benefit is a valuable point. Your post is compelling enough to get me to consider making more of an effort towards a short morning session. Thanks for posting… Lloyd
  20. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Pitisukha - my experience say yes.
  21. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

John and Charlie - thanks for your comments... Good points made by both. A couple more thoughts: First, I think we can all agree that tipping points *do exist*. In chemistry or physics there is the "quantum leap" in which a given "ground state", with energy added, will JUMP to a higher level state. The transition from ground state to the higher level state is not gradual, but rather it is sudden and instantaneous. Or, a more common concept is that of critical mass....that point at which something drastically different occurs. That point at which these changes occur would be an example of tipping point. Second, energetically and/or metaphysically most of us who have practiced an energetic art such as qigong or a meditative art have at some point experienced this. So I am saying with thought and observation, we should be able to approximately replicate the initial conditions of a tipping point. Third, to John's point, in a metaphysical state of being there is no concept of time or space, so trying to find a hard and fast timeframe or set of rules for reaching a tipping point can get a bit fuzzy. Indeed some of my most profound experiences while doing FP have happened within the first 20 minutes from the start of practice....and they happened spontaneously and unpredictably. So my own experience would validate John's observation. And also Charlie's point about the time it takes to experience an energetic jump can vary significantly would also corroborate. That said, I am searching for some set of *general practice guidelines* that would significantly increase the probability of hitting a tipping point on a daily basis (my wacky long work days notwithstanding). In other words given the busy life most of us lead, I am searching for that tipping point that is actually doable. Any further comments and observations are appreciated. Lloyd PS - Steve, I am convinced part of reaching an energetic tipping point with some regularity includes getting enough sleep. So sorry to hear about your pneumonia....please take care of yourself and get better soon! I tried doing the same thing you were doing, that is doing long sessions of FP at night at the expense of my normal sleep. That didn't work out too well, as I also became run down. Sifu Terry has always advised Flying Phoenix practitioners to get plenty of sleep. ;-)
  22. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

John has me considering a question: How many minutes of Flying Phoenix to hit the tipping point energetically? What I mean by this is, How many minutes of FP gets you into a really strong energetic state? IIRC Sifu Terry once said doing three of the advanced MSW series would yield really good results. Several of the advanced MSW meditations take me around 45 minutes to complete. So three of them can take a good two hours or more to complete. So to answer my original question: *While any amount of time doing FP yields positive benefits*, for me personally at about the 45 minute mark FP practice, the FP energy hits a tipping point where the energy feels like it jumps up a level in power and also the benefits seem to take a jump as well. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed a tipping point, and if yes when does it kick in? Lloyd

John - thanks for sharing your schedule.... 2 hours per day is really excellent. Looking at your routine, several things stand out. First, the amount of time per day and the fact that you practice daily. Second, your emphasis on the Long Form, supplemented by other FP meditations. Third, doing MHP if you are awake at night and have trouble falling asleep....I haven't tried that one. ;-) I can see why you've had great results! I appreciate your contributions to this thread. Your routine and practice is a model for everyone to follow. Lloyd

Sifu Terry - we are all looking forward to your new releases in early 2014... that will make for a happy new year!

John (Healing Artist) - I appreciate your discussion of your experience with Flying Phoenix, including the benefits you've realized.....good stuff! Can you please share your FP practice schedule with the board? How much time, how many days per week, a little about your routine, etc. Thanks... Lloyd
