Yes, so you were invaded by north men speaking french and living in France for about 4 generations led by a north men son of a french woman (but north men you know, not french xD), then you saved the France 900 years later xD xD xD I like french bashing too, always sounds like a call for revenge -

You speak more French that you would expect ! Half of English vocabulary is based on French words incorporated in modern English with English accent (same case as Creole). You remember Guillaume Le Conquérant, the guy you called Normand The most incredible part is that after 4 centuries of french incorporation at the end of the hundred year's war (1420) you decided to mask it partially. You latinized many french words such as all the A-T-E verbs are french latinized (interroger -> interogate), same for A noms (diplome -> dilploma), ou OUS adjectives (anonyme -> anonymous). Sounds crazy ? Why a name which came in English through the french "salive" would become latin saliva in 1420 in any regard ? How can any word came from latin to english from 1000 to 1800 ? It's often french or old french words from latin origin (french is from latin origin) that has been disguise to look like the latin words they have been before they were french (but are not either) but not always any fantasy is possible with language ! Now let's have a little amusement and see how many french world can I notice in that post ? I warn you, It's shocking ! I checked everything on https://www.etymonline.com/ but honestly it was already obvious or should I say evident ! -

Sumer: the "black-headed" vs. the "red-faced"
CloudHands replied to Taomeow's topic in General Discussion
Yep It was an example, so in french middle age the tax payed by peasants was the "dîme". Of course it applied on the crops. And grains are the stock-able crops. -
Sumer: the "black-headed" vs. the "red-faced"

The notion of stock. To have something valuable vs not to have it, specialy in needy time (winter) implies power over someone(s). Also a force to keep it safe... Cereals are not so far from money you can quantify it rather easily. Rice has been collected for a very long time as a tax by zen Buddhist. -
My grandfather died this year. 93 or 95 years old, 6 children, a fully lived life... and he wanted more. This is still enigmatic to me... but it happened. When I was maybe 5 or 6 years old, as I was curious of it he took a stapler... and to show me someone can handle pain he stapled his own hand! I got scared and I ran to my mom. But... the lesson remains today. *** There was also this time in India. I found in a guesthouse a book (The alchemist, Paulo Coelho) that I was reading and I was listening at the same time to some music. As the word mektoub popped up and intrigued me. To my surprise as I turned the page I had the pleasure to read : « Mektoub, dit finalement le Marchand. – Qu’est-ce que c’est que ça? – Il faudrait que tu sois né arabe pour comprendre. Mais la traduction doit être quelque chose comme “ c’est écrit ”. » "Maktub," the merchant said, finally. "What does that mean?" "You would have to have been born an Arab to understand," he answered. "But in your language it would be something like 'It is written.' "

When I was in the middle of my last middle school year our sport teacher was absent one day. With a bunch of buddies we reunited at a friend place. 8 AM, we each rolled a joint that we smoke helped in this task with plastic bottles (cheap yet powerful bong). This knocked us out...! On the 4 of us 3 was sick but we went to school anyway... to pass the math test Well, not... none of us passed the test. Actually 4 guys were sleeping on their tables... and when the ring bell I rose up and puked on the floor. That's one of my wired stories and maybe surprisingly, not a bad memory !

I was serious enough and I can reformulate in a way less provocative : center is not neutral, Left and Right are exclusive : you can't turn both. If someone accept something as influential as a political system rather than try to change it, one contributes to its inertia, its a tacit renewal so yes you're rather pro this system. Capitalism is destructive, short sighted, selfish but it has also some rather "good" parts. I understand why the majority is ok with it.

We live in a globalized capitalist world, if you're not against it you're ok with it.

Nice to see you back here !
