  1. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

Why? ,.... WHY? Cuz we're insane creatures and keep hoping that the next time will be different.,
  2. A movie of enlightenment

I didn't grow up with Mr. Rogers, I was more the Sheriff John generation. I didn't know much about Mr. Rogers. This movie came as a complete shock to me, really. I sat there in my seat, stunned after it was over. The movie doesn't focus much on the show at all; it focuses on a relationship he had with a reporter that was covering him as a fluff piece for his paper. Needless to say, Mr. Rogers saw how broken the man was....and Mr. Rogers woo-wayed the guy with his kind and silent presence.
  3. Dog pee

I tried it and it allowed me to see the emergency room.
  4. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

I hope that little guy gets some serious allowance for taking out the trash. That is hysterical -
  5. Is there an "easy path" in Daoism?

As I see it, the Way is simple and the path is wide. But I think there's a component of self-realization that precedes it. We can't achieve clarity until our inner life is untangled. Life gives all of us the tangles - in my particular case, it was alcoholism. In another's case, it may be marital problems or something else. Losing a job. I don't think folks who have had it easy throughout their lives are as driven to proceed to the state of enlightenment as those of us who have suffered a lot in life. That may not be true for all, but it just seems to me that many of us here on this forum have had some pretty horrendous backgrounds. Once the inner self is straightened and blockages removed from our channel, this is when it gets easy. This is when walking the path of the Dao gives its rewards. When useless judgments are released, when one has control over their thought process, when one truly understands that we are merely a part of the Whole - this is when life can be free of fear and anxiety. And love enters - love for the Whole and everybody and everything in it. This is the ideal, of course - but it can be experienced sporadically at first - and then the Practice becomes staying in the consciousness, the I Am consciousness (referred to differently within different traditions) as much as you possibly can. This I Am frame of mind is the acknowledgment of who we really are - and it's my guess that all traditions will ultimately get you there, if followed earnestly. As I observe it, I believe that all viable paths have one thing in common for attainment: the metaphysics, the unseen laws that underlie everything. And it's my belief that at a certain point, all dogma is best left to fade into the background. The confinement of dogma is not beneficial to merger with the One. Just one old lady's opinion.
  6. A movie of enlightenment

Please do! I'd love to hear how you feel about it. I went in with real low expectations because truthfully, all I wanted to do was go sit in the dark with a room full of strangers and eat popcorn. I went to see this movie because it wasn't one of the ones I really want to see with a friend. Please let me know if I was just a bit elevated.....if you catch my drift. This movie is not a two dimensional form of recreation - it's a three dimensional spiritual experience. (Unless, of course, I was overly susceptible...)

  8. The scandal of me sitting in full lotus padmasana

I just donated $.01 to you. I hope it helps. (Actually, if you could meditate up one of those remote orgasms for me like you did to that lady in the coffee shop years ago, I'd cough up a little more).
  9. The part of you that has never suffered

As we 'are God', it seems that the One is still manifesting. I think we are the terminal end of the One who wants to experience itself. We are the sensory aspect of life that gives feedback to itself. All other phenomenon are the One as well; all matter, plants, and animals. I sometimes wonder if, given our limited sensory range, there aren't multitudes of other entities living out a life on this planet. Entities we can't see, hear, or touch. Perhaps one sitting in the very chair I'm sitting in right now, unbeknownst to me. Just on a different wavelength that we're not experiencing. Maybe those are the Buddha-lands of the Sutras.
  10. The part of you that has never suffered

I met a lady the other night who asked me "Do you believe in God?" To me, that's the same question as "Do you believe in Santa?"

"Before the voice can speak in the presence of the Masters, it must have lost its power to wound. The voice that scolds, lies, abuses, complains, and wounds, can never reach the higher planes upon which dwell the advanced intelligences of the race." Yogi Ramacharaka - Light on the path
  12. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

This works with women too. I just tried it.

And nature hates a vacuum. I wouldn't be surprised if something catastrophic happened one day maybe involving utilities, that memes might be a shortcut to communication. The rising of memes in our consciousness, the words being compacted into a visual concept that is immediately recognizable and understood - it must be rising for some reason. (Although the concept regarding linear time being an illusion, all happening Now - whatever 'it' is, it's already happened but not unfolded yet) Or how useful would memes be in space travel, or communicating with other civilizations?
  14. Do What Thou Wilt

Aaah. You picked up on the reason for my edit. Thank you, my Bum-bro.
  15. manifestation

Oh yes! I forgot that I had given it to you in my advanced directive. My mind is slipping. Okay - well, when he becomes a Humvee man please return it to me. Just knock on the door and I'll answer this time.
  16. Do What Thou Wilt

LOL. Perhaps a bad choice of words. I withdraw the question because after re-reading the last several posts, I realize I'm talking about apples vs. oranges. Old lady mulligan, please
  17. manifestation

I agree. I think Zero is going to be a hoot. As to conscious and unconscious, I think interplay is the correct word. But both our conscious and subconscious selves are the result of our conditioning - both from birth, and through our genetics. And through societal evolution. People in recovery find it necessary, in order to stay substance free, to dive deeply into the depths, as you mentioned. This is done for the purpose of making life "comfortable" so that the recovering one does not need to drink or drug to be comfortable in their own skin. It's a process of filing your own buttons down by inner self discovery. I know that many spiritual traditions, even Freemasonry, utilize the same process in their upward evolution.
  18. manifestation

I'm still waiting for my Bugatti. I began the manifestation technique in 1971. Seriously.
  19. Do What Thou Wilt

So then True Will would not be present within the machinery of wu wei?
  20. The part of you that has never suffered

I don't see it as self consciousness, as we're not talking about the egoic body. It is more an awareness that you are not who you think you are, and the point of awareness seems to be a few inches behind the head; a sense of 'seeing' yourself engaged in the affairs of the world, but not really falling into the illusion. If this produces second guessing, I can't imagine what one would be second guessing about. Second guessing is a result of worrying about what others think, and when we're really in the zone, (ie. in consciousness) this just doesn't come into play. You know that everything that is happening, or what you are doing, is exactly as it should be.

  23. Quickly detecting a fool is invaluable

I think it's easiest to remember that we're all part of the whole. If we recognize foolish aspects of someone else, it's only because we have the same qualities within ourselves. If we remain firm to the Way, it can be merely a curious notice of the peccadilloes of others but not affecting our behavior. How often we get laughed at by fools when we follow this path anyways. That's how we know we're doing it right.
