  1. Who wants to talk about Robber Chih?!

Nice counter... This sets up a good debate then because elsewhere, I believe Robber Chih was portrayed in the book as someone that had the Tao. Let me see if I can find an example.
  2. Cats + Humans

Somehow, I think I'll be ignored.
  3. TaoMeow on Coffee

Yup. Takes a lot of practice...I've tried this with vegetarianism, quitting this food and that food before but I tend to relapse. The part of me that says "it's all a load of nonsense...you're fine, enjoy the food that you like" always creeps back.
  4. Perspectives on Narcissism

    Blown your cover there friend!
  5. TaoMeow on Coffee

Oh, also, so I usually like a couple of (brown/cane) sugars with my coffee. Were you suggesting that I could benefit from drinking coffee without sugar? If so then, well...I'm not sure that I can!
  6. TaoMeow on Coffee

Thanks for the info and your time Yep, I am fearful of a life without sugar - and a 24-48 hour cold-turkey stint, well, let's just say I had better not try hard drugs, otherwise I would be in for a definite harder task lol. The courage to take 48 hours away from sugar is daunting in my mind. I presume this means fruit too? Time to russle up that willpower. Why do these bits of info always come up just before Christmas? Dammit. My mental health always suffers for such commitments.
  7. TaoMeow on Coffee

PS When I am at a coffee shop (if i don't get tea - yay expensive bag and water!) I like to get hot chocolate. I'm bad. I love sugar and cream. I'm a diabetic waiting to happen (genetically) Should I be worried? :s
  8. TaoMeow on Coffee

Thanks again TaoMeow for more more nutritional advice. Coffee has always been a demon for me...but I've only experienced instant, decaf and machine coffee. Maybe I can work with this. Caffeine has always been a problem for me so I will look into the small quantities...I hope it works because I love the flavour and aroma!
  9. Perspectives on Narcissism

    Wow, really?
  10. Perspectives on Narcissism

We're all quite narcissistic, if we weren't, we wouldn't pick clothes or have a hairstyle. Just how much narcissism is probably the main concern. I'm a musician and actor...very tough to get anywhere without a social media - the lord of narcissism!
  11. Cats + Humans

A cat is a cat and a human is a human...different ball parks! I don't know what a cat needs, how many are liberated over others. Perhaps they know the answer among themselves
  12. After looking more into "intersubjectivity", it is clear that this is far different from objectivity. All three have definitions of their own. In relation to the OP, no, intersubjectivity won't necesaarily allow us to be honest with ourselves. At a funeral, people experience intersubjectivity due to shared emotion of grief. An objective observer can be detached from this.
  13. Precisely. Mathematics is a universal language that we can mesure thing. Without measurement and understanding, we won't survive as species for very long.
  14. Perhaps but I am also arguing that objectivity is not associated with egomania. Objectivity allows one to leave their own shoes and watch from various viewpoints. Being careful not to go to extremes. Like I said before, it's probably useful to not be objective when discussing with you partner/spouse who the prettiest lady in the world is.
  15. Let me stop you there. While most objective outcomes are very difficult to come by, they have to exist. Universal truths, like happiness. It could be said that saying "everyone likes to be happy" is a subjective thought or opinion. But it is universal truth, and measured too by sciences...
  16. Though I would be weary still of someone that claims to see auras. But yes, good explanation!
  17. Lol. I can't stand it when people nit-pick like this with me. I don't like hard cheese. Melted, I love. This confuses people..."it's still cheese" No. No it isn't.
  18. Then I will answer to this one. And thanks for elaboraring on specifics throughout this thread, it's helped me grasp what you are saying. Ideally, yes, and this is something I am on board with and from Taoist readings, also, a way I like to think. It's been a pleasure sharing ideas, regardless of a few differences!
  19. Possibly what Seth was describing? That, I do recognise, but I will say more on this a bit later.
  20. Interesting. Do you see objectivity as a product of the subjective? A bias in itself? It can be argued that the plea to think objectively is in fact a product of a subjective mind...
  21. Apologies for late responses, I've been away and working wifi has been hard to come by! I will add more responses gradually.
