What happened was I read this post here: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message2805978/pg1 and I thought it was interesting sounding and I just reposted without looking into it. Can you believe it! I hate when people do that....really

Maybe all that is needed is hormonal regeneration or somesuch thing... children, before they start worrying what everyone else is thinking of them, are usually in the happiest of states... I didn't end up in DNotS until my great existential depression days (still happening) thinking is bad

Ahh! Caught! I didn't read the whole thing...was in a funny mood I have read some stuff by him before though....he has interesting opinions.. Glad someone around here pays attention though

Like what if DNS is due simply to loss of that childhood energy and vitality (probably has some term that makes more sense)? Was just looking at that Wikipedia link above and it is saying how several individuals had lifelong DNS....inlcuding Mother Theresa... Maybe it more likely happens in those who think incessantly about spiritual matters? i.e. existential depression?

Hasn't ended - just keeps morphing! lol I don't know that I believe in DNS anymore - I think it always is fixable and can always come back from any kind of source, such as: allergic responses, entity possession, parasites, gut flora imbalance, nutritional imbalance, lack of exercise, overuse of drugs, and many many more. If you can do something to temporarily abate the issue, whether it be take some kind of recreational drug, or go on a vacation to a sunny place, or meet a new love and get in that honeymoon phase, then its something that can be altered if you try hard enough. Too often, people view DNS as some spiritual initiation of some sort - I think that you should continue to research if this is your belief. Where did the term originate? Hopefully someone didn't already mention...I will see what I can find EDIT: WIKIPEDIA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Night_of_the_Soul

I started thinking yesterday that instead of a 'What are you listening to?' thread, that we could have a subforum which had a number of different threads for different genres of music and any time you wanted to post a favorite song of yours, you go into the appropriate genre and that way, we could basically start forming a TDB hit list.....good idea or bad?

[Tantra] Redirecting / holding back Semen when orgasm, a seemingly difficult task?
Songtsan replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
Well, I must admit I did end up with prostatitis when I was younger (22).....but I didn't know that was a possibility at the time (was reading Mantak Chia books).... I learned to fix that issue by using self-massage of the prostate... However, another thing that is important is learning to isolate each of the different muscle groups that are involved....not only the PC and anal muscles (anal muscle contraction is for mulabhanda and the energy pump up the spine), but the muscles of the prostate itself, as well as some of the muscles that flex the penis... On the flip side of muscle contraction is muscle relaxation. This is equally as important - there is in fact a method for those with prostatitis and related conditions in which the patient is trained in special relaxation exercises for those muscles and have seen marked improvements. So the trick is in gaining identification of and isolation of the various muscle groups and then once you can identify, not only strengthen, but also relax fully... also, there is fine control of the smooth muscle of the urethra, vas deferens, etc. - usually smooth muscle is outside of most volitional control, but anything can be learned -
[Tantra] Redirecting / holding back Semen when orgasm, a seemingly difficult task?
Songtsan replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
Prostates easily become inflamed and full of stagnated fluid. The prostate contains muscle tissue, glandular tissue, and ductile tissue. If it produces supportive fluids for the semen and you just reabsorb it, you can get prostatitis or other things not good. Orgasm is a process not energy, although involving much energetics. I can't talk now though....have to go get ready for work... -
Just ordered some serrapeptase and also Nattokinase...going to try it for about 45 days and see what I notice....

[Tantra] Redirecting / holding back Semen when orgasm, a seemingly difficult task?
Songtsan replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
I have done it a few times by clenching PC muscles and not moving AT ALL, and focusing on crown or third eye chakra and breathing energy upwards. Then you experience a orgasm and the ejaculation doesn't occur. However, it seems that the fluid is still released from the epididymis and the prostate still releases fluid in preparation for ejaculation. This must then be returned or reverse ejaculated....never figured that out... So was able to keep erection and keep on going and had a nice little orgasm each time this happened, but the fluids were still essentially released. If one withdraws the semen up into the stomach, I can't see how that will be useful vs. regular ejaculation. It doesn't seem like you can go back either to the epididymis, and you wouldn't want to try to reabsorb fluid into the prostate. Where should it go? Orgasm is overrated anyways. Sex for hours without coming and keeping the libido high is not overrated. It's a worthwhile endeavor. -
100 days of practice (martial arts/qigong) challenge; prizes involved :D
Songtsan replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Daoist Discussion
I think any training on unstable surfaces is useful....now I wouldnt necesarily say something like an elliptical runner is the same as training for martial arts, but it could be...it depends on your approach. I took the arms/handles off mine and also the computer, so that I can practice escrima drills while I use it, or wear my weighted gloves and practice boxing, etc. Part of what helps become a better ninja is to constantly shake up the regimen. There is a plus to practicing the same drills as well, in that things can become unconscious and automatic, but there is also a good reason to break rhythms, separate the top and bottom parts of the body (different rhythms for arms/legs, hands/feet), so that you're not dependent on rhythmic entrainment in a fight. My ideal setup includes various balance/stability devices. The funny thing about trampolines is that people are always giving them away on craigslist in the 'free' section. If you have the space for them.... -

Its definitely cool, but yeah I don't believe that its necessary. I once used to practice it daily several times a day and could maybe hang out for 45 mins or so, but legs would always go numb at first. I have varicose veins in my legs too, so it don't make no sense to me to do for myself. But if you really want to be sure you aren't missing out, just be smart about it and progress slowly. Some people spend ten years perfecting it. Don't cripple yourself.

Simple Question: Can anyone feel their meridians?
Songtsan replied to Yasjua's topic in General Discussion
If you are of the view that myofascial meridians are the same as the meridians used in Chinese medicine, then yeah I can feel the meridians.... see sites like: http://dandjurdjevic.blogspot.com/2012/06/tcm-meridians-and-fascia-what-do-they.html I have felt them where there was a sort of seam or line which corresponded to a meridian for example, an area of two myofascial 'sheaths' interconnecting - and also another possible example is when you touch one spot on your body, like on the chest, and it refers to another area, like on the hand. Also, if you press on a trigger point, and it happens to correspond with an acupuncture point, as many of them do, and through trigger point release you experience a change of some sort (physiological, energetic), then you are feeling that acupuncture point and hence the meridian channel. -
Yeah, I use that method too....I find they both have merit. I am 38 and still have what I deem an unhealthy attraction to fetish based sexual fantasies. I have gone through periods of intense purposeful fixation on them in order to explore their root cause and arisal of the desire (it seems to be co-originated acausal or multi-causal), and simply exists because of a reifying complex - that is, the identification with an impulsive and habitually reinforced ego self, which when no longer identified with can be seen as a stream of continuously arising phenomena, no different than clouds passing by, or leaves in the wind. However, I am finding it more and more convenient to just schedule my day in terms of what will be healthiest and best (with some room for spontaneity) and focus on non-identification with objects and working on my 24/7 system of meditation, perfect posture, breathing, etc. aiming for emptiness. There is tons of spontaneity in being choosy. My system involves purposeful periods of cathartic release sessions and longer periods of value-driven choosing, i.e. structured days. Besides, its good to sublimate...I usually do Karezza/Taoist method, w/ three week intervals, but sometimes I will orgasm more frequently in a short period of time to study its effects. Also, maybe the OP doesn't have an imbalanced sexual appetite, perhaps its quality porn... Still if OP wasn't already doing it, it might be fun to sublimate while watching porn for a few weeks, and see what changes in appetite develop. Its good to note that any behavior can be fed into/encouraged/reified, so if one sees an imbalanced experience/perception that one does not like, i.e. cognitive dissonance, hate/love, etc. one take steps backwards until the imbalance is corrected. You could also turn it into a meditation. Make as practice to watch the porn and try to attain absorption on it, free of tension, full of samadhi. "Urge surfing" - ride the desire out, see how it develops, see how long you can go. Capture desire energy and sublimate it...

According to Buddhist (and other) philosophies, attachment is a number #1 cause of suffering. Attachment is both positive (meaning one has a strong desire FOR something occuring), and negative (one has a strong desire AGAINST something occuring). The cycles of desire-based (desire for/against) actions (I.e. karma "action/reaction") create dis-ease and imbalance. In Vedanta and Yoga philosophy, they call this bhoga vs. Yoga...two ends of a spectrum. Bhoga means pleasure and Yoga means union. Seeking pleasure is exactly what attachment (both forms) is about. Whether you seek a desired result (positive attachment), or desire not to have a result which you deem negative, you are essentially seeking pleasure. So desires born of attachment are Bhoga. Yoga means 'union,' 'to yoke,' and infers meeting reality where it is actually at. I'm not saying to avoid pleasure, just don't seek it outright. If you hold to a system of values based on moral/ethical standards and also based on health and well being, you can simply choose a path that is honorable, which feels 'clean' to you. Obviously your enjoyment of pornography is causing you a cognitive dissonance and is a kind of pressure release valve for you. You can still have your cake and eat it too. You run the risk however, of emotionally attaching to partners for some sense of completion, sensual/sexual or otherwise, which is not the healthiest. I am assuming when you say you turn to pornography, that you also have some sexual release (I.e. masturbation to orgasm) with it. This is a standard "guilty response" which has engendered the rise of the 'No Fap' community, and is inherently linked with cyclic pleasure/control issues as you seem to imply with your own story. The trick seems to be the middle path - I.e. neither complete denial/ascetism nor complete and utter hedonist abandonment. In your case it may simply be healthy sex without undue focus on fantasy. If you aren't partnered then give sexual sublimation a try, or if you do masturbate to completion, do it without fantasy, as in based directly only on your own physical enjoyment of the sensations. A dis-ease that many face is the requirement for fantasy sex. This often leads to a build up of the need for fetish-based sexual experiences and lack of the ability to enjoy simplicity in the sexual arena. Note frustration in yourself, usually linked to anger/discontent, and note when you use a pressure release valve to mitigate such disatisfactions. Dis-satisfaction is another good term for attachment and suffering. Desire based choosing can often be the road to Samsaric hells. Value based choosing, as long as its well thought out and tempered with wisdom, will lend itself towards satisfaction...
